Hi Allison. I wanted to give you a little insight about your water shuttle question. I am a former Carnival ACD/CD so it is from that brands perspective. Also I stopped in 2017 so things may have changed, but I think this is still true today for most/if not all lines. The ships that use the Life Boats as water shuttles have specific boats they can use for this operation. Most lifeboats are set up not for comfort (believe it or not the tender ones are usually much more comfortable), but instead are set up to fit as many people as possible in the case of the emergency. Trust me on this one. I participated in a number of drills that involved loading the lifeboats with crew members to capacity and they are not fun. The ones that are not water shuttles are harder to walk around and have to be loaded in a way to distribute the weight of the people, due to how many additional people you are getting on the boats. I was also told that they could not use more lifeboats (even if they could just take less people per boat) as you have to keep a certain percentage of the boats attached to the ship, in case an emergency occurs while in port. Hope that helps.

Hi Allison, I am not happy with the Princess Cruises promotion of double points for Cruises up until December 1. I have sacrificed a lot of time and money to be able to be an Elite member.
I have the 2026 World Tour grand voyage in my sights -- probably still out of my budget but I can dream.
I was on the HAL Grand Voyage to Australia2024. Enjoyed the Grand Rep Company performances every week, total of 15 during the voyage, all different. The Rep Co had eight singers and dancers. The voyage also had a coffee chat with different staff every week. Really enjoyed the voyage.
We were on that cruise as well. It was fantastic! HAL really does a great job on the Grand Voyages.
Princess elite cruiser here. On a recent cruise, went to the elite room for priority water shuttle. Princess staff was checking elite status before you went into the room. When we were released to go down to the shuttle about 20 people were standing outside the room and joined into the elites going down to the shuttle. Suspect some non elite have figured out the shortcut and tagging along. We could tell some got added as more people showed up than the tender capacity.! Also also probably too few tenders, er, water shuttles
We got a Move over offer on the Sapphire in February, but it was move to an inside giving up our balcony cabin and received a full refund of the cruise fare. So we got a 14 day cruise for free except for tips and WIFI.

We are on the Aug 10 Enchanted repositioning cruise. The cruise was priced quite low when we booked 2 weeks prior to final payment date. We booked a GTY cabin again and don't expect an assigned cabin until just before boarding.
Hi Allison, we are taking advantage of the promotion on our August 31st cruise the love boat. We upgraded to the Unlimited package. On our next cruise in October, we will be Elite because of the promotion. We watch you every day.
NCL also has sea day brunches. I was shocked Princess didn't.

The tender shuttle fiasco happened to us on our cruise to South America last December too….it was disaster and then Princess after not calling a number tender for about two hours, they said everyone just go down there all at once! I don’t think cruises stay long enough in ports and these things happen!!!! Frustrating!
I would love to do a grand voyage with Holland but I am still working and my husband capped cruise days to 25 max at once, lol😅

Sounds like a good reason to book another cruise with the Plus or Premier package. However many cruises it takes in this promo time to become Elite is what we should be thinking!!!

This is probably an unpopular opinion coming from a newer cruiser but I think cruising has changed a lot and Princess understands that most of their profit comes from the extras now so having a lot of Elite cruisers that cruise on the Standard package really isn’t going to increase their bottom line. So although the Elite group was loyal to them, that group is not going to make hem successful going forward.
I agree with you.
Making it easier to reach elite devalues it and a lot of loyal customers will look elsewhere
The small ports of Nanortalik and Qaqortoq in Greenland are not at all prepared to handle thousands of cruise passengers all at once. On our Caribbean Princess cruise that included Greenland two years ago, the tender situation was exactly the same as you described for the current Island Princess cruise. It took forever to get off the ship using the two tenders, and, as about HALF the passengers were elite, that was the case even for elite. In the one port, the trip was primarily just to be able to say you had been to Greenland. Most people left the tender, walked to the top of the nearby hill, and joined the LONG line to reboard a tender back. The info being circulated was that there was an agreement with the local and/or Greenland government that only 2 tenders would be used at a time... and then eventually, as it got closer to sail away time, that doubled, and 4 tenders were employed. Who knows?! At the 2nd port there was more to see, and everything seemed more organized. If going to Greenland, think REMOTE. There are not many organized excursions. The local children were precious, and gave us the lovely memories that made the inconveniences worth it.
I wonder how that meet up in Barcelona will work out with the protesters who are anti-cruiseships??

I’m not sure you actually said it but I think you alluded that if you book an excursion from someone other than the cruise line you are not entitled to getting an early tender. Is that correct?

we missed you. We worked and paid to become elite. Now this really is not fair to give double points. Its just not fair. I paid my fair dues with princess and do not appreciate this new scheme. Elite with Princess and proud to be so. But now its a non winner.
You are absolute right Eddie! I agree with you 100%. Loyalty shouldn’t be for sale because then it’s not really loyalty anymore but it was loyalty to the people who actually earned it.
Princess has no problem moving or taking perks away.
