Fantastic cruise! We so enjoyed your cruise family. Gigi's was so good we went twice! The veal "pockets" were super delicious. They had an Italian name. Not to be missed. The Irish band at O'Malleys were great and food was very good. 360 experience was expensive, but I would do again in a heartbeat! Sunny in the Juneau Dining Room was the best waiter I have ever had anywhere. Ketchikan Dining Room was great for breakfast because few people knew where it was. Great full service breakfast. Its on deck 6, but you have to go up to 7, then down to 6 to get to it. Check it out. I could go on. Again a fantastic cruise. Thank you Allison and Gordon!!!!
We were on the ship the week before you and we noticed how loud the music was in the Piazza no matter the time of day. We have not experienced that on any other Princess ship but unfortunately, I forgot to put that in my survey! It was so loud that we avoided the Piazza when possible. What we noticed was that the Reserve Class dining area was never crowded & we couldn't figure out where all those people were eating. It definitely made for a very relaxed and pleasant dining experience all week. I highly encourage anyone thinking about booking a cabin to take advantage of that dining perk! We too had a wonderful week on the Discovery with an amazing crew!
We never ate in the buffet. We ate breakfast and lunch in the main dining room and never had to wait for a table, and service was excellent. The Catch by Rudi was excellent; we ate there twice. What made the cruise even better was that I finally got to meet Allison and Gordon, who are every bit as wonderful as they seem to be.
Thanks so much for this. Our very first cruise ever is in late Sept and on Discovery. You and Gordon have been so helpful, answering our newbie questions!
Keep Take 5! It's such a chill space for music and drinks. We've also started using a casual dining venue the first night... staying out of the first night's craziness of the MDR. We're on the Sky this Christmas and looking forward to seeing some crew friends from previous sailings. And we love the International Café for off hours food!
I'm heading out on a Mexican Rivera cruise in November. I have come to find out (after final payment) that they have closed Churchill's cigar lounge and are converting it to a video arcade. I'm super disappointed since I enjoy my guy time with a nice cigar while cruising. Seems like bait and switch since I have already paid. Thanks Princess 😢
Nice review. I just subscribed to your channel. My family and I were on the Discovery Princess voyage round trip Seattle, departed August 3rd. I wonder if this is the cruise you were on? We brought the sunshine with us! Not one drop of rain the entire time. Outstanding cruise, specialty restaurants, staff and service. We really had a great time.
Thanks for your insights on cruising. We are going on Majestic in September 1st. to Alaska. I think it is the same itinerary as you guys had on the Discovery. They do have some different specialty dining.
Hope the duo at O'Malley's is as good as what we experienced. It was when O'Malley's was brand new and they wooed two entertainers from Disney World who were fantastic. They drew huge crowds when ever they performed, you couldn't find room to pass by if you wanted to. We ended up there everynight and even attended their 'spoons' playing classes.
I just booked the 29 day Seattle - Singapore sailing on the Discovery Princess in 2025. If the buffet is a real mess and the MDR is too crowded, I am thinking that maybe it would be better to cancel and head over to the HAL Westerdam ...
SUNNY! Sunny, the waiter in the Juneau Dining Room, and his assistant were the best ever and absolutely made Dinner the highlight of every day, along with our wonderful Let's Go Family Members! We feel like we made friends for life. Thanks to Allison and Gordon for everything! We have booked more of their group cruises and can't wait! Dear, Sweet Allison is exactly like she appears on video. So kind and caring! ❤❤❤
I just noticed that Princess shortened the time you have to use your Future Cruise Deposits. I purchased 2 FCD Jan 2024 and March 2024 and my use (book by) Jan 2026 and March 2026. Two weeks ago I checked on my FCD's again and without any warnings Princess decided to shorten the use by ( book by) to only one year after purchasing to Jan 2025 an March2025.
Don't forget the 4th class of Princess ship with the Coral and Island Princess. They are the smallest. I've sailed on the Coral Princess and she is one of my favorite.
Your video is very timely. Just today I put down a deposit on Discovery Princess for a 7-Day Mexican Riviera cruise the first week of February, 2025. We are going to opt for traditional dining. I've only been on this class of ship once before for a short 3-day cruise on the Royal Princess last fall. I recall the music in the Piazza as being way too loud. I hope they tone it down on the Discovery.
We also noticed how loud the music was in the piazza on our recent Royal Princess cruise. Never noticed it before on prior cruises (Enchanted and Crown this year). I made note of it in our after cruise survey. We had a hard time having a conversation in any of the bars around the piazza when there was music.
So if we don't want to pay extra for specialty dining and hate the buffet, what do you suggest? Other than not going to Alaska or any other hugely popular itinerary? Luckily our next Princess cruise is to Antarctica and because of the price point, hopefully they won't be above 100%. We had zero issues eating during our British Isles cruise anytime.😅
If we take the princess shuttle to the port, do they check out bags at the airport or do we still need to que with them? We are departing on August 30th on the Discovery princess.
If you’re “waiting around for a long time”, “there were no tables available”, “it was really packed”….These are services you paid for but can’t use or are discouraged from using due to the wait. Sounds like they oversold the ship. Smashing in 4100 guests at max double occupancy of 3600? No thanks, sounds miserable. I have no desire to eat at random hours because I’m VACATIONING with a greedy company that oversells the cruise. Too many other options.

Loved the Ruby for Alaska in 2016 and the Discovery this year Solar Eclipse cruise
You talk about all these restaurants but what is included in our package and which restaurants are an extra charged, this would be so helpful!

Is the train in Skagway open all the way up into Canada? I so want to do all the fun things they have planned for us, Allison? Thanks for your videos!
Yes it is! Listen again to the first part of the video: ua-cam.com/video/8SdYZkapA0Q/v-deo.htmlsi=aidSQ8CPnwcoWefY&t=55

When you have dining reservations, do you go to the front of the line to check in? Thank you
There are two separate lines: those with reservations and those without reservations. Thus, you don't go to the front of the respective line.

You are going to find that on MOST of the larger ships in Alaska. That was certainly the case on Celebrity Solstice.
I think Princess should go back to assigned dining. It seems to me that is what most of the passengers want.
They have in one of the main dining rooms on each ship starting in mid September!
@@LetsGoTravelTips yay!
The offer the 5:30p and 7:30pm traditional time dining confirmed on the app you can request the same times, same dining, same table and wait staff.
We prefer anytime dining
@janicewilkinson2783 my wife and I prefer any time dining.
