The one crying at the Grammy awards was Jungkook, the youngest member and all round emotional and sweet guy. He is quite empathic and lives and breathes music, so he easily gets pulled in and engaged.
I think skipping early works would mean skipping some of BTS's most hip hop heavy works. While displaying samples on a "crash course" involves catchier choruses, these choruses work in tandem with rap verses. I would recommend starting with their 2013 debut features No More Dream and Bulletproof Part 2 then evaluating where your head is at rather than letting the "schoolboy" book cover be a source of prejudging the book's contents. This period generated their first three Cyphers, Hip Hop Lover, and more which literally are BTS album tracks so there is material which is in your wheelhouse. I have seen some rap oriented reactors say early BTS is their favorite period.
Actually in my opinion the School Trilogy albums are the very core foundation of Bangtan's sound and what we now hear and understand as their music today. It is a very necessary part of their springboard and journey so don't let the description fool you. The songs are absolutely great and showcase their hip-hop side out of the gate AND the lyricism is definitely there as well. Great reaction!
By school themes, BTS means criticizing a harsh school system and the concept of society determining your goals for the future. Their early albums have lots of socially conscious music that set the groundwork for BTS as a group. This is the stuff that set them apart from other groups and you can see this foundation stay with them even as they grow and experiment with other types of music. I highly recommend you watch the Rise of Bangtan series as you go through the albums because it gives cultural context for their music and journey. Each episode discusses an album except episode 1 covers intro and pre debut content and the Wings episodes goes over a couple of songs each (Wings was massive!). But these early episodes ( and their music at the time) are extremely important to understanding BTS as a whole.
For example when you get to the first album (whether you listen to the whole thing or pick some songs), you should hear their hidden track “Path” because their music really displays their thoughts at any given time.
also bts music is timeless their older music will still hit even if you've move past that part of your life it doesn't feel like only school aged kids should view such music I still listen to their old albums even today plus to see how their music influenced a generation especially in Korea is fascinating because they risked so much by making this music. you'll understand as you go but please don't skip any eras !!
From the gate BTS were singing about following your own dreams, and as a 40 year old I need to hear that. Absolutely their early work shouldn't be over looked, even if they were singing to school aged kids, the fears and anxieties from back then don't suddenly stop once you reach adulthood. I wish more new ARMYs and reactors would just go back and listen to BTS from the beginning and follow their journey.
When the Grammy interviewer was comparing BTS to the Who, it wasn't because of the whole package, but how their albums are put together and how their songs follow a connection. You can get good vibes from BTS by listening to their individual songs, but you get their message by listening to the whole album from start to finish. So just like the Who told stories in the albums, BTS did the same as well. Honestly he was comparing them to rock legends based on their art instead of just other boy bands based on their good looks and target demographic, and I felt that was the furthest thing from a diss that any interviewer in that time could have done.
As others have pointed out the comparison was a valid one. The Who were incredible in their era and their staging and performances in an age with no in ears, no backing tracks and very little in stage effects were great for the time. BTS has a different approach based on social commentary but in their own way they are magnificent. They are both story tellers.
@@Jurnalist_ - Their dance routines in their early years are incredibly tight. They moved as one. Their later dance routines shows their individuality and are more expressive, but still very much in sync, still incredible. Their choreography seems to get more and more difficult through the years.
@@Jurnalist_ I think their school trilogy era it's your era xD but I might be wrong... Full of hiphop tracks, No More Dream, We are bulletproff pt 2, Hip Hop lover, We On, Jump, Attack on Bangtan, If I ruled the world, Danger, Boy in Luv, N.O.... all tracks are fire. Like not Fire, which is another song, as it's Dope :P
22:51 it is the school trilogy that happened because it was what the members were living at the time but i would say that it is not as directly related to school as you might think, it's more about hopes and dreams, societal expectations, young love, members' thoughts about music, industry and the life at the time
The "Big 3" are the 3 big entertainment compagnies in South Korea, : JYP , SM Entertainment, YG. They dominated the Kpop industry (Idol system) since 20 years, they have not only the money, but the power and the connection with all the entertainment média, radio (payola system) , and TV show (Kpop is born with TV show, they are very important). Every Kpop group have to work hard to succeed, and Kpop industry is very compétitive, but the groups who belongs to the Big 3 have what is called "the Big 3 privileges" : large media cover, daily radio play, invitation in ALL the TV shows. It's help a lot ! So during years and years, only the Big 3 groups wins awards on Korean or Asian Award Show ... until BTS. From a business point of view, Koream culture is hierarchal and strict adherence to this hierarchy is mandatory for everyone. For a small unknown company (Bih Hit) with ragtag idols (BTS) to dare to compete with the big guns is near blasphemy; so every effort is taken to ensure this system is not disrupted. That's just how things work. BTS and Big Hit was différent since the pre début. They don't have money, they don't have connections, they don't have power. Just their talents and raw potential, their hard word, dédication to their fan base, and ... freedom. Big Hit let the boys have control over music (and it's NOT a common thing in the Kpop industry at all ) , express their opinions, allowed them to talk about issues that many in SK society wouldn't, like mental health, school pressure, disparity in societal classes and so on. This mindset, added to the lack of fund and connections, made them an anomaly in the Kpop Industry. Their authenticity and their passion attracted fans , not only in Korea but worldwide. They begin to grow... so the Big 3, who at first, look down on BTS, tried to buy them, fail and so tried to block BTS from broadcasts and TV promotions. BTS being creative, went around the establishment and develop their own shows, their own media platform ( Weverse) and used youtube to subvert the industry. Which made people in the industry mad so they tried to sabotage them through made up scandals and accusations, with the active help of their own groups fandoms. BTS went through a lot of hardships, and Army fandom too, (that's why the bond between Army and BTS is so strong) but they succeed way more than anybody can predicted. But they still don't get the media coverage they diserved in their own country, because even if their Compagny Hybe (formely Big Hit) is one of he richest now, the Big 3 still have the power... Sorry, I'm way too long, but the underdog story of BTS is something to know and study, really :) I recommanded you to watch the docu série The Rise of Bangtan, I'm sure you will enjoy it and find it very interesting. Aneesa (the creator) has been working on this series for over 4 years. She is taking viewer on a journey step-by-step from BTS' perspective not looking back on their days but living through them (with them). She edits their content to allow BTS to speak their thoughts, through their experiences at the time because BTS has been documenting themselves since BEFORE their debut, so there is A LOT of material to edit down to tell their story! She also gives an overview of the KPop history for those who are not familiar with the industry. She uses clips from different video clips of other idols/ journalists interviews to try to give a broader perspective of the industry. Very well done and fascinating.
if you ever truly want to dive into bts' discography fully i would recommend doing it chronologically, their work grows with them and they often build on past songs or reference themes or lyrics from previous albums
It’s kinda like how in his last Suga reaction for What do you think, there were references to like 4 other songs lol. BTS’ music builds on itself. Referencing past lines and ideas and expanding or changing these concepts over time.
It's insane how much BTS have achieved year after year, it's hard to find a really good documentary on them because once that video gets posted BTS have already achieved so much more. They work so hard, as you heard in the rapline albums so far, they are still striving as if their lives depend on it. BTS never stop and ARMY will be here beside them until the end.
it was a big surprise because they were going to do a different song and other music came on, and yeah, imagine being Korean and the world is centered around English, and there they were in Europe and a whole stadium were singing to them in their language 😭😭
Haven't seen a lot of people react to this of late, but it's actually a good crash course as they said, though outdated now. Just so you know, even though the eras are compartmentalized according to phases of life so far, they somehow manage to hit a chord in people at different stages of life.. It's one of the reasons why they got the attention of such a wide demographic. I think with their introspective nature, they really capture some potent universal experiences in a way that makes you see life newly. So the school era too has absolute gems like Tomorrow, Spine Breaker, the Cypher pt 2, We are Bulletproof pt 2 (which is the dance practice with the hat trick) etc.. Their honesty and unwillingness to go with rotten systems right from the start is why know the kind of people they are. They still believe in fighting the good fight. I actually think you will really like a lot of their old tracks coz you'll see what really makes BTS different. They were small and didn't have power backing them, but they still spoke their minds regardless of whose feathers they were ruffling. They spoke against the systems that oppress the youth. Lots of sociopolitical critiques that are incredibly astute considering how young they were. And those points they made still stand true for a lot of the world today. The Big 3 Korean companies were SM, YG and JYP. Until BTS started winning, all awards used to routinely go to the artists of those 3 companies. BTS were mocked for being from a poor company and shunned for daring to dream. We say BTS' rise was tough and they fought against all odds coz there were so many attempts by the industry and fans of other artists to defame them and crush their chances. The same people now try to claim credit for BTS or copy them shamelessly while refusing to acknowledge their achievements. It's pretty frustrating to be honest.. The one dancing with the coat rack is V. That was his solo song Singularity and he is absolutely bewitching performing it. And when you spoke about the one who was so elated watching the Grammys performances, that was Jungkook.. They truly enjoy music and performance sooo damn much. They are such a breath of fresh air in all these award shows honestly. They really know how to have fun in a sea full of stuffy people who refuse to react to other performers😁
If you're not interested in exploring all the eras, *I'd recommend starting with their 3-CD anthology album, "Proof (2022)", which is like a summary of their musical career.* The *first CD* contains the lead single of each of their albums (18 songs, plus a new song). In the *second CD,* each member chooses one of their *solo songs and a unit song* (the most common unit being rappers-only or singers-only, but it can be any combination of the members). (Suga chose Cypher pt. 3 for his unit song.) (14 songs, plus a new song). The third CD is only available in CD form, containing demos and unreleased songs (except a new song, available online). This way, you'll know how their sound has evolved over the years, without having to explore the whole albums. Maybe, as you listen to each song on CD 1, we can tell you what other songs in that particular album are standout tracks. For example, Suga's "First Love" in the album "Wings" is one of my favorites from him, about his love of piano/music. But there are several amazing tracks from that album.
NO, don't skip the School Trilogy! Don't try to prejudge anything, it's worth going through it all believe me otherwise you miss a lot. So hope you change your mind, it doesn't mean that they were childish or anything like that, in fact they were doing things no other group dared to do. As a fact, S. Korea at this time had the highest suicide rate in the world from 10-20 yr olds (not counting older) so their message had impact on lives. They came out swinging, so NEVER prejudge anything BTS do, especially musically 'cause you'll get it wrong, believe me. Take that as a learning point from here on out. And yes, in Wembley the staff and fans arrange to surprise BTS in this iconic moment. If you want to see more amazing fan moments you should see the Brazilian fan chants. Amazing! No V was the one with the coat rack, and it was JK at the Grammy's getting so emotional. The later Intro videos will update you on them all, although some of the older videos are good and worth watching don't base all the info on the group on them as the later videos will bring you up to date. XCeleste's, Asian Theory, Taylor Mari and Rise of Bangtan (when it's reuploaded to YT) will be your go to guides. I might have missed some but these are the main agreed ones that are good.
20:32 guess you don't need to watch the dance choreography with the hat trick, since it's in this era 🤣🤣 ... but don't underestimate the era by its overall theme. So many songs that til this day has so much meaning beyond adolescents. Alas, I always will be stating RM's lyrics "do you, do you, do you, do f you want" And I appreciate the honesty too!! 🖤🥀
Awe no. Their earlier works is phenomenal and should not be missed. School theme or not, lyrics are still poetry and messages are still there. I’m 48 yrs old and especially love their early albums and sounds. You have to stay open and remain open.
the first era was good ..got real bops and yes ARMY learned Korean lyrics ..and you havent listen Brazil ARMY is crazy i am 43 years old and am from Puerto Rico and i learned Korean thank you for your honest reactions
The school theme was about supporting teenagers NOT to just do school, but to follow their dreams! South Korea has a strict school system that breaks lots of kids. The school songs were about rebelling against the system! Dabble in each Era. Guess what. When I came aboard I knew nothing. I picked everything randomly. Do what you want. Do you. That's what BTS would say to you. There is no right or wrong way to do it. Lots of Army are very opinionated. But only because they LOVE BTS and don't want you to miss anything. Yes. The staff set it up for fans to sing to them!
11:44 according to ifpi bts was the global recording artist of the year in 2020 and 2021, they're the only artists ever to top the chart two years in the row
21:51 bts has the top seven best selling albums ever in south korea, the number one map of the soul: 7 has sold 5 million copies as of this year, their last album proof that came out in june this year sold 2 million copies on the first day alone
7:41 this video of their dorm is from 2013, they lived in that apartment and slept in the same room until like late 2014 or early 2015 because on an album that came out in 2015 there is a song moving on that partly talks about them moving to another apartment
you will like their school trilogy, as a lot of their hiphop heavy work is during their early years. Songs like Hip Hop Lover, Born Singer, Cyphers were from this era. Don't be put off by the description, there's many hiphop and RnB style songs sprinkled into every era, but especially during their early years. Dark and Wild is a great classic BTS album, the title song Danger has Jam by Michael Jackson vibes. Danger also has a very cool dance practice vid, lots of MJ style moves. Hip Hop Lover and Cypher 3 are also on the Dark and Wild album.
I think it would be a shame to skip the school trilogy tbh, and dark & wild, some of BTS's greatest gems are there, and the topics don't all revolve around school hahahahaha they discuss various topics, for example: there's a song talking about the different provinces in Korea in which the members talk in different accents representative of said province (they're all from different cities, but some cities are in the same province, most of BTS are from Gyeongsangdo - Jimin, Jungkook, V and Suga, Jimin and JK from Busan and V and Suga from Daegu -, but there's also Gyeonggido - RM and Jin, from Ilsan and Gwacheon - and Jeollado - J-Hope, from Gwangju), and they "fight" to see which one is the "best one" and it's just a genius, amazing really fun song. Also, extremely difficult to understand without the help of a Korean person, so you'd have to do the "Explained by a Korean" video after, or go to doolset, but doolset has a wayyy longer explanation (it's better imo). It's also their most hip-hop heavy era so you'd miss on that too 😔
I see I will be doing myself and then a disservice if I were to do that. I’ll be sure to go through each era proper. I look forward to that song with the different accents and regions.
@@Jurnalist_ It's the Satoori rap (satoori is the name for regional dialect in Korean)...I've seen Koreans react to it and they get so excited and proud to be represented. For context, there's about 52 million people in S.Korean and 25 million of them live in Seoul...so everywhere else is considered the "provinces" and those in Seoul can be snobbish about accents and regional differences.
even though you said you probably won’t get into their early years of music, i really recommend listening to the songs on their early albums because some of their best work is on there!
10:57 the big three are the three main entrainment companies (sm, yg and jyp) in korea who used to dominate the market, the award shows, media, everything because of money, history, connections etc probably still dominating the media to this day
they are still dominating bcs BTS doesn't get the media coverage that they should be getting. i thought armys were exaggerating but i saw so many korean ppl surprised that ppl from all around the world traveled to korea just to see bts for the busan concert.. they were like "are bts that popular?" saying that about bts as a korean in 2022 is mad to me idk 😭
yes, they are still dominating. Even if Hybe is now richer than the Big 3, the compagny don't have the same power and connection on media et TV shows. BTS don't get the media coverage they deserved for their achievments, because they succeed outside the system (and against him to speak frankly)
16:04 bts vocalists jin, jimin, v and jungkook did a song called bad decisions with benny blanco this year, with halsey bts have a song called boy with luv and suga a song called suga's interlude that suga produced
I think BTS became even more massive during 2020 because of their good heart and their good intentions. They started the year with a whole plan of a world tour and when pandemic cut them short, they embarked on a whole series of activities and projects to keep ARMY (and themselves) afloat. That included showing us behind the scene bits of the whole process of creating an album about their feelings during those trying times (it became the beautiful "BE"). And that process ended up getting Dynamite on their hands, and the rest is history
also the 'seat-filler' you talked about is Jungkook, a lot of people get junkook and v mixed up so it's okay lol you'll get it eventually, I'm sure i mixed them up too in the beginning of my journey
at 17:34 : I think you misunderstodd what the journalist said. It's true that most of the american interviewers, specially between 2016 and 2019, were lazy, ignorants, and just ask always the same stupid questions to BTS. But this one compared them to the Who, not because of their music, but because, as the Who, they have a fictional storyline that run through some of their albums, MV, notes, mobile game and books ! It's called the "BU", aka Bangtan Universe. This fictional storyline is one of the thing that attracted international audience in BTS's music, but this interviewer is the only one who talk about the BU !!! The other journalists or Tv host never had interest for BTS's music and story, they just want to talk about good look, girls, crazy fans or american artists they want to collaborate with !

ooof watching this with u made me emotional all over again esp that Jin is already in military training and who knows which member next that will go waaaah... I manifest for 2 yrs to pass by quick so it will be 2025 already hahah... no seriously I take that back this is a significant transition period for each member to grow artistically and shine on their own uniqueness and brilliance before converging as one on 2025 and rule the music world again and shine even brighter 💜🙏🏼 thank u for ur interest on bts music and artistry
The school trilogy is full of amazing songs in my opinion (I probably listen more to those albums than most besides HYYH), but remember to just discover according to what you are interested in. I don’t think there’s any correct order to discover their music, just have fun and enjoy!
LOL when you were saying V has your favorite personality in BTS you were looking at Jungkook, it was him who's happy just to be here :) and the one doing the dance with a hand and a coat rack was actually V thank you for your reaction! also school trilogy doesn't only have songs about school so i wouldn't write that era off the list completely. but i understand wanting to hear love yourself series first, actually hearing that they have a storyline in their album like that is what really made me curious about them. the rest is history, now im in my fifth year of being a fan 😁 the video is a little bit outdated tho, they have since released Map of the soul 7, BE, Proof albums and 3 english singles (Dynamite, Butter, Permission to dance)
The hat trick dance was from one of their School Trilogy albums. In order to understand BTS and ARMY and their rise to success. You should really start from the beginning.
It's the Maknae, Jung Kook who is crying at the Grammy's and I think he is taken by the song they are singing which is a beautiful song. Also, if you look closely, you can see that his raw emotion makes RM choke up a little too. They are so tuned into each other's emotions.
Oh wow I'm glad you did this one! It does a good job of explaining the discography! Could make my email make more sense to you I guess. Like I picked the best songs of each album, and recommend if you really liked the vibes of those songs to check out others from their album. HYYH, LY, MOTS album series are telling a story from their Bangtan Universe (which you don't have to get into if not interested) so a lot of the songs are interconnected with each member having their own storyline (though they all come together as 7 friends). It's some beautiful work! It even has a K-drama now lol
BTS (with support from their agency Big Hit Entertainment) partnered with UNICEF for their Love Myself Campaign, and they were invited to speak about it at the 2018 United Nations meeting. You should react to that speech that RM gave, and you will understand more about why they were there. They really do stand up for youth and the underdogs of the world. And ARMY's were a part of the equation, because they in turn support the cause and help to raise money for it, and it tranlates as real world change. That wasn't their goal to start out, but it just grew into that.
Many of us know the Korean words. I know all the Japanese released songs/albums in Japanese and the rest in Korean. You learn easily if you listen to their songs on the regular.
14:36 rm is the only one fluent in english but they all speak english on some level and are working on improving it, they all also speak japanese on some level
7:55 its magic trick. It looks like Jk catch that hat from Jimin but it just eyes illusion. Same act like card trick in Butter during grammy 2022. That we are bulletproof pt 2 dance practice
Early eras are great I still listen to alot of tracks of these albums they are not the typical school themes it didn't lack the boy crush songs but mostly it had strong message and hiphop in it
It's insane going to a Kpop concert and hearing the entire venue screaming the entire Korean lyrics to the entire set list. My favorite part is to watch the venue staff looking around like...WTF is happening?? 🤣
You HAVE to include the school trilogy!! BTS cyphers are part of that era, along with WE ON and TOMORROW, two of my favs! They were trying to speak to their peers and those sentiments still apply to young people today. Try the lyric video for WE ON. It shows how much potential they had, even at aged 18/19 which was how old RM/SUGA/JHOPE were when they were writing lyrics for this.💜
bighit entertainment only has about 7 employés a part from the members themselves so they were so small. and actually nearly went bankrupted at one time before BTS became big
thank you for the effort but as others said the Taylor guide would be best. I used to love this video and would've recommended it in 2019/2020 but so much has happened and changed since then it's insane to look back on this video. it was good for the years it was made but yeah Taylor's is most up to date and even some of her information changed as she made hers may 2022 hers is most accurate. so you can imagine older guides from years ago.
The Big 3 in Korea and JYP, SM, YG, controlled every aspect of the Korean Entertainment Industry. BTS was so talented, BTS was a thorn in their shoe. HAT TRICK is in the Video (We are Bulletproof2) Since you are a rapper, I would like to suggest 3 videos. UGH, from the Yet To Come Concert in Busan. BTS (방탄소년단) OUTRO: TEAR Live Performance - Eng Sub and CYPHER 3, Yet to Come, Live in Concert from Busan. Please!
I'm just smiling so BIG I would just want to tag every great moment to you, who's doing what.. (Just say it and I'll freaking do it like, Tae having the red colored hair (ARMY can deliver you DATES from where until his next hair color! And Suga losing it, crying in the award ceremony in the red jacket, J-hope and Jimin dancing, and RM being the leader who he is by his darn soul..) But when you learn them, and watch his again, you'll know them everyone of them 💜 And you will be smiling as wide as I am .. 💜
:) so when we got to 19:50 on here, I was wondering what your take would be now, after your comment regarding how BTS sales would compare to The Beatles, and what they had to do in order to have 6 number one songs on BB in a year. Also, regarding their dancing, it has been tight from the beginning. I just feel the whole unit is more mature in their dancing now. Watch the early work, and dance practices and you will see. Enjoy your continued BTS journey.
I need further research as I was not only speaking to bundles but the lack of connective technology that they were able to utilize to reach more people in a faster time frame to make and then surpass anyone from an older era. Or the way it’s purported is as if Drake hadn’t done these feats with bundles and streams being in the equation vs artist who couldn’t even fathom the means in which we can galvanize fans in modern times. I just have an issue with the lack of care to the history and shoulders we all stand on when we make these new records. It’s not an issue really but it is something I take issue with be it anyone who says they have done something vs an artist of an older generation. But I will be watching BTS vs videos to get better understanding to see how comparable the journey is in my opinion.
I definitely advise againskipping early BTS. It sounds like its all immature schoolboy stuff but they actually touch on many societal issues esp regarding the education system. Their early discography is just as socially conscious as their recent stuff. Their lyricism is so important and it’s important to note that all 7 member’s participate in all the albums whether its songwriting/composing/producing.
Just because it’s not your era you shouldn’t prejudge what you’ll be missing. To miss any part of their eras you will not understand them. This is their journey. If you truly interested in learning from them you will follow their journey as you would want others to do if it was you.
I started to sing the songs but was mumbling the words. I didn’t want to sound like I’m messing up the language so I thought I would look it up. There are some really easy UA-cam videos and surprisingly after 20-30 min I had enough basics to differentiate consonant and vowel sounds. Best and easy investment made in this BTS and kpop journey. It’s worth it.
No worries about the video length. It's totally cool to release the reaction to Taylor's video in multiple different parts if that works better for you!
Homeboy crying at the Grammys (about 16min in) was Jungkook, the youngest member. V was the dude just before practicing English, and the dude just after using his own hand to do that performance with the coat hanger.
Hi Jurnalist. I think you would be missing out on the essence of BTS and their growth if you skip the school trilogy albums. You have to see how they were from the beginning with their music and how they evolved to where they are now and how they are fluid with the music genres they do. They have bangers in their earlier music. Actually, I like all of their music. I just like some songs more than others and their B sides are phenomenal! I hope you decide to check it out, even if you do it on your own and not as a reaction. 💜💜
South Korea is one country that is way ahead of the USA. From their fashions to Hi-Tech. SK has better WIFI, transportation, and a better healthcare system.
@Jurnalist, i’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to view this one you when you went live but I am here to talk about three school trilogies of BTS‘s first three albums and why it is important for you to listen and watch the MVs ! now please hear me out these three albums are very important because then the beginning BTS were very heavily into hip-hop in 2014 they went to Los Angeles and were mentored by several popular hip-hop artist Warren G and Coolio (RIP) The name of the reality television show in LA was called “American hustle life“ In the beginning the CEO Bang PD wanted the boys to be very hip-hop orientated. different from the other K-pop idol groups that were present in 2013 so he sent them to the United States to get some true information where hip-hop comes from not just learning the techniques and the cadence and the flow of rapping, two of the rappers RM and Suga of BTS were underground rappers way before they were even in BTS. So their knowledge was pretty well developed but the other five members were not so much with hip-hop at all. J-hope who was also very hip-hop orientated in his dancing that he was in a group called “neuron” and it was a hip-hop Street dancing group that did many different shows and they won many awards even at the international level and he did this when he was very young 12/13 years old he was recognized for his talents, j-Hope learned how to rap while he was a trainee he got some help from Suga and RM from BTS! J-Hope developed his own flow and cadence! Getting back to the three school trilogy albums those three albums talked about the school system now there is A lot difficult school system all over the world, But this is not only about boy/girl angst love songs! BTS are up in your face addressing school system and the government for how they put so much pressure on students that the highest suicide rate are between the ages of 13 and 19 years of age in South Korea that’s no joke you can look it up! It is the highest work wide! This is what happens in South Korea if you are a student and if you want to be a trainee in the idol music industry this is your day from the time that you get up in the morning at 6 AM or even earlier you go to school then from there at three or 4 o’clock in the afternoon you learn how to rap ,dancing, sing, English lessons and then you continue to do more schoolwork and studying until 10 o’clock and sometimes 11 o’clock at night then you go home and you do it all over again! That’s how they push the young people not only if you don’t want to be an idol it’s still difficult because they want their students in South Korea to be at the top level so they push 12 hour days of school onto these students. Some parts of the school system are so corrupt in South Korea that if you want to get your child in to the best school first of all you have to be one of the elitist, pay bribes! now you say that this might be the same thing that it’s in the United States not as harsh and not is driven as it is in South Korea! These kids that are going to school they are so pushed and pressured that they are even considering of taking their own lives now that is what really disturbs me the most about the school system in South Korea !that they have no mental health for the kids not like they do here when there’s tragedies and things that happen in South Korea they just started doing it more some mental health just in the last couple of years! BTS every album is relevant to their discography !so your western opinion without even listening to them or reading the lyrics or doing the research is just very disappointing because you’re not giving it a chance there discography starting with these three albums !BTS early albums are going to peak your interest and I guarantee you you’re gonna like a lot of the songs once you read and do some real intensive listening!💜 Please give it a chance🙏🏼
Thank you for all of these great points and details. I’ve written the show down to to try and react to it as well. I have backtracked the statement of skipping any music. I see I will lose out on things I need to really understand the group properly how the army does.
Taylors guide is very entertaining as she shows the characters strength and weaknesses interests and how they function together. As they manage stress and grueling work loads, death threats with humour goofyness and downright sillyness it is guaranteed to make you smile unless you are so dry you should be mummified.
I like how he said " It looks like a military procession!" Well, it kinda is... Edit: Please don't mention Grammy around these parts. We are still salty about how they did our guys for the last few years. It was disgusting how the Grammys used them for ratings.
First time they went to the Grammy's they were like kids in a candy store. You see Jungkook there crying and the boys all singing along with every performance. But by this last year they realized how tainted this system really is. Because BTS has a story arc that is really 3 different arcs in one once you start looking into the music and the arc you are compelled to continue to buy the next album that is the continuation of the story you are listening to in the next album. Plus they had 4 different themes of the same album in cover and photocard compilation so everyone bought multiples of each to make sure to get a complete series. In each era of their music hip hop played a huge part of their catalog. In fact they were very hip hop centric until they got to the "Youth" era, also known as the Most Beautiful Moment or HWYH. After that point they began to do more "kpop" type music even though within that "kpop" the genres covered are very different pop, rock EDM, R&B, and of course more hip hop.
That's not V you are talking about. That's Jungkook, the youngest member. The one you said looks good with red hair was V. LOL! Thanks for reacting to this video.
I know u said u wont skip their school trilogy but I'm just sayin that even the first 3 cyphers and their song hip hop phile that u reacted to from their school trilogy albums when they were still new and I don't recommend anyone to skip their "young era" cuz its must to see 🔥🔥🔥
I will not be skipping any era. I have retracted this statement.
And you'll be glad you didn't ;)
Yess glad you will do that. Its all part of the Journey 👌💜
Great !!!
Please, don't skip... The so called School era is full of hidden gems!
Good decision.
I have seen some rap oriented reactors say early BTS is their favorite period.
yeah, and he wants to see the song where they Jimin threw the baseball hat to JK :)
Taylor's guide is the most up to date guide on everything. Can't wait for it.
Yessss, we´re here for it.
For example when you get to the first album (whether you listen to the whole thing or pick some songs), you should hear their hidden track “Path” because their music really displays their thoughts at any given time.
unfortunately TRoB is no longer available... she removed the series from YT...
also bts music is timeless their older music will still hit even if you've move past that part of your life it doesn't feel like only school aged kids should view such music I still listen to their old albums even today plus to see how their music influenced a generation especially in Korea is fascinating because they risked so much by making this music. you'll understand as you go but please don't skip any eras !!
Same!👌🏻
Yes i agree. I didn't find it offensive or paternalistic.
As others have pointed out the comparison was a valid one. The Who were incredible in their era and their staging and performances in an age with no in ears, no backing tracks and very little in stage effects were great for the time. BTS has a different approach based on social commentary but in their own way they are magnificent. They are both story tellers.
9:54 this is the dance practice for we are bulletproof pt.2, a song from their first album 2 cool 4 skool
I may need to retract my statement about that era not being a fit for me. If that dance routine is that cold.
Very well done and fascinating.
unfortunately TRoB is no longer available... she removed the series from YT...
@@Ivana-3737 Seriously? I wonder what happened.

@@Ivana-3737 what?? When did this happen?
@@Ivana-3737 oh, sh... ! Why did she do that ? It's so informative for everybody, to understand what was the "BTS first chapter" !
if you ever truly want to dive into bts' discography fully i would recommend doing it chronologically, their work grows with them and they often build on past songs or reference themes or lyrics from previous albums
😭😭😭😭
Good comment.
19:53 the next album after MOTS: Persona got even massive. In 2020, their album MOTS:7 sold 2.65m in 6hours, and gain 3.37m sales in its first week!!
Thank you for your time and the information you shared with me. 💜
@@Jurnalist_ the pleasure is mine because you are reacting sincerely and giving your honest opinion
God it is insane how much has changed in like 2-3 years.
The dance routine at 7:53 you were asking for was from the first song they released when they debuted which is No More Dream!!!
That's We Are Bulletproof Pt.2 😅😅😅
They do lots of "Tricks" on stage. Magic!
even though you said you probably won’t get into their early years of music, i really recommend listening to the songs on their early albums because some of their best work is on there!
The video you liked with the flips and hat exchange was from then. Their first song "No More Dreams" was good, so was "The War of the Hormones".
~16:00 that is Jungkook getting super in his feels over music. Love him so much. They're all so endearing.
I SCREAMED when you went “that’s ignorant” 😂😂😂😂
the choreo where the hat was thrown is in We Are Bulletproof pt.2
also the 'seat-filler' you talked about is Jungkook, a lot of people get junkook and v mixed up so it's okay lol you'll get it eventually, I'm sure i mixed them up too in the beginning of my journey
all bts MVs are gold.they are talented from the beginnig.even old school themed albums.cypher series are all from them.
at 17:34 : I think you misunderstodd what the journalist said.
5:21 they have spoken at un three times, two of them in person, and they also spoke at the white house this year
Also they have a connecting storyline that runs through their albums
Very nice reaction, appreciate the detailed feedback you give, thank you💜💜💜

The school trilogy is full of amazing songs in my opinion (I probably listen more to those albums than most besides HYYH), but remember to just discover according to what you are interested in. I don’t think there’s any correct order to discover their music, just have fun and enjoy!
that song with the hat trick choreography is called we are bulletproof
LOL when you were saying V has your favorite personality in BTS you were looking at Jungkook, it was him who's happy just to be here :)
and the one doing the dance with a hand and a coat rack was actually V
thank you for your reaction!
also school trilogy doesn't only have songs about school so i wouldn't write that era off the list completely. but i understand wanting to hear love yourself series first, actually hearing that they have a storyline in their album like that is what really made me curious about them. the rest is history, now im in my fifth year of being a fan 😁
the video is a little bit outdated tho, they have since released Map of the soul 7, BE, Proof albums and 3 english singles (Dynamite, Butter, Permission to dance)
The guy with the coat rack was V, Song: Singularity. And the guy rocking that Red hair is also V.
V is cold plus that hair color😮💨
The hat trick dance was from one of their School Trilogy albums. In order to understand BTS and ARMY and their rise to success. You should really start from the beginning.
It's the Maknae, Jung Kook who is crying at the Grammy's and I think he is taken by the song they are singing which is a beautiful song. Also, if you look closely, you can see that his raw emotion makes RM choke up a little too. They are so tuned into each other's emotions.
Thank you for sharing bts
Thank you for the lazy music journalism comment. Spot on.
2:04 Tae looks good in every hair color idk how
Awww... 16:00, that's our baby Jungkookie.
They cried because they were surprised. The were not included in the sets of song in the concert. They were touched by it.
Many of us know the Korean words. I know all the Japanese released songs/albums in Japanese and the rest in Korean. You learn easily if you listen to their songs on the regular.
"BTS Billboard Awards 2019 all moments"....shows all the big stars clamoring to meet them
Trust us, the school trilogy has some really good songs
14:36 rm is the only one fluent in english but they all speak english on some level and are working on improving it, they all also speak japanese on some level
I subscribed. We live watching new people discover BTS! No V did the coat rack dance. Watch Bulletproof Pt. 2 to watch that trick.
7:55 its magic trick. It looks like Jk catch that hat from Jimin but it just eyes illusion. Same act like card trick in Butter during grammy 2022. That we are bulletproof pt 2 dance practice
19:14 it's v for his song singularity
Thank you💜💜
Early eras are great I still listen to alot of tracks of these albums they are not the typical school themes it didn't lack the boy crush songs but mostly it had strong message and hiphop in it
You should watch their Run BTS dance practice and On Kinetic Manifesto to watch some really good choreography
It's insane going to a Kpop concert and hearing the entire venue screaming the entire Korean lyrics to the entire set list. My favorite part is to watch the venue staff looking around like...WTF is happening?? 🤣
can't wait til you react to "Home" such a good song with cool lyrics :)
You HAVE to include the school trilogy!! BTS cyphers are part of that era, along with WE ON and TOMORROW, two of my favs! They were trying to speak to their peers and those sentiments still apply to young people today.
Try the lyric video for WE ON. It shows how much potential they had, even at aged 18/19 which was how old RM/SUGA/JHOPE were when they were writing lyrics for this.💜
No don't skip first ers was rap and hip hop........."BTS Come back Home Live 4th Muster"
bighit entertainment only has about 7 employés a part from the members themselves so they were so small. and actually nearly went bankrupted at one time before BTS became big
For clarification, they *HAD that many employees. Bighit is now a huge amd succesful company thanks to bts
Loving your reactions."BTS American Hustle Life" cover the show logo though
thank you for the effort but as others said the Taylor guide would be best.
Please!
SK so-called BIG THREE
YG-BIGBANG, BLACK PINK
SM-EXO, SHINEE, SUPER JUNIOR
JYPE-GOT7, TWICE
Don’t skip early eras because if you want to understand BTS and Army you need to go from beginning.
RM is the most fluent in English. The rest are learning and speak better English than I speak Korean
That hate move is in song call " We are bullet prove pr2 "ti's ther first song a group 💜💜💜
I will see it when we go into first era BTS.
@@Jurnalist_ good luck 👍💜
I'm just smiling so BIG
I would just want to tag every great moment to you, who's doing what.. (Just say it and I'll freaking do it like, Tae having the red colored hair (ARMY can deliver you DATES from where until his next hair color! And Suga losing it, crying in the award ceremony in the red jacket, J-hope and Jimin dancing, and RM being the leader who he is by his darn soul..)
But when you learn them, and watch his again, you'll know them everyone of them 💜
And you will be smiling as wide as I am .. 💜
We will journey through these moments together
24:06 rm produced the song playing, it's called young forever
Just because it’s not your era you shouldn’t prejudge what you’ll be missing. To miss any part of their eras you will not understand them. This is their journey. If you truly interested in learning from them you will follow their journey as you would want others to do if it was you.
Hard facts. I will not be skipping
I lovee💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
@Jurnalist, i’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to view this one you when you went live but I am here to talk about three school trilogies of BTS‘s first three albums and why it is important for you to listen and watch the MVs ! now please hear me out these three albums are very important because then the beginning BTS were very heavily into hip-hop in 2014 they went to Los Angeles and were mentored by several popular hip-hop artist Warren G and Coolio (RIP) The name of the reality television show in LA was called “American hustle life“
In the beginning the CEO Bang PD wanted the boys to be very hip-hop orientated. different from the other K-pop idol groups that were present in 2013 so he sent them to the United States to get some true information where hip-hop comes from not just learning the techniques and the cadence and the flow of rapping, two of the rappers RM and Suga of BTS were underground rappers way before they were even in BTS.
BTS every album is relevant to their discography !so your western opinion without even listening to them or reading the lyrics or doing the research is just very disappointing because you’re not giving it a chance there discography starting with these three albums !BTS early albums are going to peak your interest and I guarantee you you’re gonna like a lot of the songs once you read and do some real intensive listening!💜
Please give it a chance🙏🏼
15:30 mark is Jungkook, not V, but you are right that he is just completely elated and enamored by the whole thing.
No problem at all. Mandatory viewing if I’m ever to get my head around these boys and their musical impact.
Thank you for the clarification and viewing the video.
I know u said u wont skip their school trilogy but I'm just sayin that even the first 3 cyphers and their song hip hop phile that u reacted to from their school trilogy albums when they were still new and I don't recommend anyone to skip their "young era" cuz its must to see 🔥🔥🔥
This I did not know. I’m glad you all checked me on that so I didn’t make the mistake of missing that era.
