I genuinely cannot express my rage when SuperM came out. At first I anticipated it because individually they're really good, some are even veterans in the kpop scene. And then they came out with....jopping. Taemin did not bust his ass for years to debut in another group to sing about jopping.
Korean music labels are very powerful. They have major shareholder stakes in digital media and broadcast media companies. They're just not asking for certain words to be used, they are writing the whole article and sending in for publication
Now I understand why BTS don't accept comparisons to the Beatles.. knowing there will never be another Beatles, and insisting they establish their own identity.
when bts starting singing about mental health and loving themselves, kpop stans were making fun of them and saying that they were shoving mental health down people's throat but the minute other groups started saying things like loving myself, kpop stans were all for it. kpop stans made fun of bts for making happy bubbly music but the minute their faves did it too, they were all for it. whatever bts does, kpop stans hate on it. but the minute their faves do it, they try and say their faves made an impact. just shows that whatever bts does and makes an impact, other companies want their faves to do it too so they can be the "next bts" but nobody will ever be the next bts.
For me, I think she nailed it when she said the only way to make the "Next BTS" is to stop trying to make the next BTS. As it stands, if you're trying to replicate the success of someone else by emulating them the most likely outcome is that you'll just be a sub par copy. The "Next BTS" will be nothing like BTS. Because no one is ever going to BTS better than BTS, and consumers really don't want another BTS. They're already there, why do we need a knock off? What the companies want, and what they're failing to acheive is the SUCCESS of BTS. Only way to do that is to keep it real and let artists be artists and find their OWN story/vibe/style. TL:DR- Who wants a knock off when they already have the real thing? Make something different and real with actual value and originality rather than trying to be a good imitation and thinking that's the road to success.
10:46 aside than stadium sales, merchandise, and shows they even have revenue from TinyTan and BT21 - games, animation, makeup, figurine/stuff toys, even act as an ambassadors! I joking said “ahh bts are too busy they sent their 2d character”. These characters have quite a followers, a whole storyline and especially famous among younger genz.
To me, trying to create the " next BTS" is about other labels, in Korea or the West, wanting the money BTS generates, not about creating good music. Suga is quoted as saying there will not be a " the next BTS" . But he followed this by saying ( I paraphrase) that there will be a new someone else-- not a replica.
Yes, they will make their own mark, not live in the shadow of BTS. I love that about Suga, he was saying it as an encouragement to younger artists trying to reach their own goals.
“The reason for Bangtan’s success? I don’t know either, why in the world would such a thing exist, It’s just that we all ran strenuously, It’s just that we ran no matter what others said, The answer is here, hahaha” - RUN BTS
I am so mad about "avengers of k-pop" group. I don't know a thing about most of its members, but I know some things about TAEMIN. And he is incredible good. And there are supposedly six other artists of the same level as him. And SM made them to go into the west music industry with the song about freaking Jopping? WTF?! TAEMIN went through enough of shit in his life to add this embarrassment to the list. Oh my gosh, I am MAD mad. I still can't understand why Big 3 keep pulling out so much shit. I am still not over the fact (and never will be) that SM lost 2 of his most successful idols to s*icide. What the heck, this didn't happen in one day, you should care about your artists and protect them at all costs! I am happy that BigHit provided counseling for BTS members and suing haters. Every company should do this. I only hope that HYBE won't become same sh*thole as Big 3. At least BTS still have BigHit's independence.
This is the problem with SM. They have the best vocalists in Kpop, best dancers and out of the world visuals. Their artists are really the total package. But their songs, just SUCK. Their lyrics are garbage and the sound is all noise. The last song I like from them was Psycho from RedVelvet because the lyrics just made sense. SM let out music like machines but their lyrics are rarely good.
Even though BTS is the only group I truly stand, have to admit that when I discovered TAEMIN and his solo project he became my ULT- ULTIMATE BIAS, saying he's incredible good isn't enough, I would rather say he's mesmerizing and definitely an eminent artist and performer so I agree with SuperM's project being offensive to the actual members. It's sad that all this delusional plan SM made, keep kpop fans or general audience away from going deep to artist that are worthy.
yeah it takes away from his individuality 100%. I just don't understand why they have to be a replicate of another but never their own, that's what makes someone unique. the idea of pulling idols out that have their own fame to form a group and slap on avengers onto it is SO fake.
The Super M problem is that even though each of those members were famous within their group each group's fans hated that they removed that person from their group to try to make a super group because Soo-man Lee hated that he was not the one that created BTS. In fact he tried to take ownership of BTS saying that BTS would not exist if he had not started kpop in general. He had a "news" person come and work at making a program saying he was the "creator" of the kpop system so therefor he should be the one that should be said to have "created" BTS. >.> On not submitting to Grammies and other American shows, most Korean agencies didn't submit to US market awards because they had Korea and they were big in Korea and if they were big in Korea they had MADE it. There is a song where RM talks of a frog in a well who thinks this well is his whole world and hope he dies never knowing that well was just a well. So many agencies and after them groups felt that Korea was the whole world until BTS went out and started winning in markets other than Korean markets those frogs found out they were living in a well. Living in a well not living their whole world. So now they go out and submit to things that BTS submits to only seeing BTS grow their world not actually looking at a map for possiblities. In Korea most Entertainment companies including the news programs are in bed with music agencies because each of them have music programs that need band to play in their music programs, so if they need a group they go to their favorite agency and say we need a group for tomorrow and "their" agency for a group. Jopping 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Even when people interview BTS and ask them about being the 'next Beatles' the members have all said it is an honor to be thought of when speaking of the Beatles but they honestly feel pressured from it and truly just want to be considered 'BTS' and not the next anything. I appreciate that so much. Bora is right, these people trying to force it are only hurting the people they are shoving down people's throats and the fake media play is humiliating as no one really believes it. Even with the super group, i feel really bad for those guys cause the fans for each individual member were more than likely looking out for their fav's part of the songs and the videos and the merch and not the group as a whole - they seemed to have worked really hard but were never really treated like a family or a real team by a majority of their fans, and their original groups were left working on things without them and then they had to try to be there for their original groups as they could - it just did not look healthy at all for any of them, which is really really sad - I am not a fan of the other groups but I do respect their hard work and dedication. I'm sure some of them would probably be really great "artists" if their labels would just let them.
@@Yoonji9212 rock? Then u would love Within temptation, Muse, Apocalyptica, Skillet, Poets of The Fall music, i guess. Try these bands, they are pretty good too
THERE'S NEVER GONNA BE ANOTHER BTS NOT ONLY BECAUSE THEIR INCREDIBLE REAL, GENUINE TALENT BUT BECAUSE THEY'RE THE PERFECT STORM THAT HAPPENS ONCE IN LIFE. THEIR SINERGY IS UNIQUE. THEIR PERSONALITIES ARE UNIQUE. THEY HAVE " ARMY" THE STRONGEST, UNIQUE FANDOM IN THE WORLD.💜
the love yourself message being used in all of kpop after bts's love yourself era is real af, lol and I like other groups as well, but it's so obvious that this actually happened it's kinda funny, so many songs with that theme came after LY era lmao
I think you'll enjoy "The Most Beautiful Life Goes On 2022 update" by Rice Squad, which summarizes BTS's music career. You'll see how they grew slowly and organically, in terms of sales and charts, as well as their milestones. It'll help you put albums in context when you start listening to BTS albums.
@21:28 The Big 3 entertainment companies in Korea absolutely have the relationship and power with K-Media to get certain articles out in their favor. This is part of the reason, Bangtan had a hard time in the beginning, because their company did not have any of this power or influence. In fact even after they achieved astronomical success, the media still to this day downplays their achievements, it's sooooo crazy and straight-up weird. But it also shows their company takes no part in the "media play" nonsense. The group's music, reputation, and success speak for themselves, and of course, ARMY is the best advertisement/media. Those other agencies are showing they not only want to "recreate" Bangtan but also "recreate" Bangtan's engine/wings (their fandom). Great reaction, keep going! @21:44 In regards to journalistic ethics, there is a lot to be desired. Remember the video you reacted to which showed Bangtan having a press conference talking about their new album release? The journalist in the audience strategically throwing that random question about a "past plagiarism allegation" was not by accident. He was allegedly on the payroll of one of those Big 3 companies and sent to do that kind of thing so it's not just about putting out "positive media-playing" articles for their artists but also sending "darts" at Bangtan any way they can. So much under-the-table stuff!!
SuperM albums units for BB 200 were hilarious. Their units from streaming were 1-3K while sales were 100K+. But what is even more funny is the fact that their sales from korean stores were counted for BB 200, so if we will talk straightforward - their #1 was a scam Let me explain further bc it was a huge controversy back then. There is Gaon ( now Circle ) chart - an official korean music chart which counts all of shipments and sales of physical albums inside and outside of Korea ( which means that if albums were imported from Korea to US stores for fans to buy them these shipments would be reflect on Gaon chart ). SuperM claimed to sell 100K+ physical copies in US in first week of album release, but Gaon's officials said they didnt have any data related to SuperM shipments which means the albums werent manufactured in Korea. But there is even more tea: SuperM albums were sold in korean stores ( EXACTLY THE SAME AMOUNT OF ALBUMS WITH WHICH SUPERM DEBUTED ON BB 200 ). So how they ended in korean stores if they werent manufactured in Korea? SuperM and their labels had really thick faces to celebrate that fraudulent they pull out P.S. let's not start with the amount of bundles they have done ( 50-60 different kinds of bundles, even " buy now - pay later " poster from target which price was 10$ ). It was so freaking embarrasing, even koreans didnt acknowledged their #1 as something to be proud of
the only other kpop group who got #1 on bb 200 apart from them and bts are stray kids and i heard their company (jyp) did some scam with warehouses and different versions as well.
@@forg_tful. i wouldn't be surprised though. When BTS reached #1 with LY:Tear on BB 200, Fake love was #10 on hot100 without radioplay and playlisting, just by ARMYs streams and sales. The way not one of these groups could debut their songs on hot100 is very telling about their ways of getting #1 on bb 200
Suga said in an interview that they were aiming for the 15th floor and somehow they ended up on the 50th floor. That says it all. Their goal was making great music and achieving modest succes. If the goal is record breaking success instead of great music, then the group will fail.
20:21 When we say the Big3 (JYP, SM, and YG), we mean the Big3 for a reason. They have their hands in a lot of other media other than just music. They have HUGE influence in broadcast stations, newspapers, brands, and even Naver (the google of S. Korea). I remember one instance where a kpop boy group broke up and freed themselves from one of these Big3 companies, but because of the Big3 influence, some of the members were blacklisted everywhere and it took a while for them to get their footing again in the kpop industry. Also, haters like to say that Hybe/BigHit caused a monopoly in the kpop industry, but no, Hybe/Bighit broke apart the perception that the Big3 were all powerful. And showed that there were other ways than the Big3. There were quite a few articles exploring this subject from korean journalists. You just have to find the ones that weren't paid by the Big3 haha If you're talking about ethics in South Korea, you should look up chaebols and nepotism. Lots of problematic stuff there. 29:41 He created 2EN1 and kept promoting them as an "ugly group". I grew up on 2EN1 and they had GREAT music. He caused the women of 2EN1 so many issues that they're still dealing with today.
Kpop groups are selling the albums with 8 - 23 versions per one where the only difference is an album cover or photocards of members of groups and with cheap prices to make it look that they are on the same level with BTS and still getting less $$ than BTS ( like BTS made 93M$ in Japan alone just from physical sales without touring in this year and their were #1 there for it ). These guys also selling 2 - 4 versions at most and their albums are more expensive than others' ones. Like BTS made 42M$ from selling of limit edition of Proof physical album ( 150K copies at biggest ) worldwide and sold 3,5M copies of Proof beside this limit edition where the prices started from 25$ to 70$
Fellow ARMY here. I have been watching a lot of your content as of late and I am always interested in your knowledge and insight with regards to BTS...you are very objective and fair with your opinions. However--- this one was straight comedic gold. I laughed so much at your commentary... so witty and snarky in your intolerance. Your exhaustion juxtaposed with bewilderment was just SO funny and entertaining. I literally guffawed MULTIPLE times, omg 🤣 Great content.
To me the bottomline is their artistry and humane thoughts which they know how to articulate profoundly. Kpop in itself always focused on creating 'idols' that are untouchable and feeds into your fantasy. And thus the visually and auditorily, everything aids to that extravagance. BTS included that ethereal feel to their performances and worked hard on it but I can guarantee you that wasn't the reason for their success. Its the fact that their music was rawer than many artists around the world, even more fascinating since they did it in the most unexpected genres too and and no matter how many replacements show up, the legacy that the music that's so humanly personal has can never change.
FLO is amazing !! Such a good example. Another good western girl group (and HIGHLY underrated) is Boys World. Also, yes - some journalists in Korea have direct ties to certain entertainment companies and will only publish articles in the favor of that company and its artists. IDK the journalism code of ethics in Korea but in terms of that, it's really whacky.
2:45 RM interviewed Pharrell some time ago, and Pharrell said something very similar about producing and collabs, if you care about the music your position should be what’s best for the song and not how you get to shine more. It’s a really good interview if you wanna watch it (probably on your own time)
Of course who they are as people helps, but I don't think that's the main reason why they are big. I just think they make quality music that people of all ages and backgrounds can relate to and they are also incredible performers. There are a lot of music artists who I like as people, but I'm not gong to like their music for that reason alone.
@@crystalsnow1138 you are right ofcourse it's not just that, who in the world since today make music as passionate as BTS?! I mean other people make good music too but they never get my attention. And importantly they make music to make other people feel better, BTS always said there is no lie in our song
YG ent. did 2NE1 so dirty!! They were very successful and talented in different ways, but the company gave up on them completely to focus on a younger/prettier version, and I would add also a more malleable and easier to control version. The girls in 2NE1 were very passionate about music and had their own values and opinions, and their own vision for who they wanted to be (especially CL) and I think that was hard for the company, so they ditched them. They had a strong fandom as well, what a waste... But CL is still doing music which is awesome. Anyways... Joping?? what. 🤣🤣🤣
YG did not abandon them. They had a lot of scandals, CL got involved in a fraud case and had to go to Pakbom Court for importing illegal drugs. Before you say anything, do some research. because i'm a fan of 2ne1 If YG doesn't decide to disband 2ne1 and debut BP, YG will go bankrupt because of Korean fans. Can't accept what happened to 2ne1, causing them to be banned from many events.
I just want to point out that "illegal Drug" was Adderall and it was prescribed by her doctor.... only it was her doctor in US, and the drug was mailed to her and was confiscated through the customs. She has ADHD and I believe the issue was that whatever treatment they were trying in Korea, was NOT as effective as the Adderall is for her. Unfortunately is not an approved drug in Korea, hence why there was scandal saying she was smuggling illegal drug. And charges were never filed against her. And She is still singing. She had a come back couple years back and I believe she is suppose to have a come back soon again too. Sandra does variety shows... Not sure what Minzy does. She made a solo debut and... really didn't get far i don't think. But i would imagine she is still singing and dancing somewhere in some form.
The scandals could have been defused if YG protected 2NE1 like they do with their boy bands (who happen to have actual, serious scandals), especially with Bom and the Adderall situation, but they already had blackpink in the making, so they didn't care. They didn't straight up disband 2NE1 because contracts, but they put them in the infamous "YG cave" basically stopping all promotions and pretending they don't exist. CL sat on a pile of recorded songs (a full album, ready go) for years, with no schedule and no talk about future plans for her work. From what I remember, she was even happy when the album was leaked because she just wanted the music to be out already, with or without the company. Minzy left on her own volition and sadly she's been quite unlucky with the other smaller companies she's been with so far. I do wonder though if CL, Minzy and Bom have been been "blacklisted" from media after leaving YG because it's so strange that people who were as popular as them in the field can't even muster a featuring with another artist in Korea? Their media visibility is also next to nothing over there, and the only connections they have musically are in the US. Kudos to them for continuing to do music despite everything.
Geez 😂😂 "So much money" when you were talking about BTS's stadium tours, You make me laugh so hard, I feel you bruh.... But let me confess, it makes us so much happy to attend their concert, to feel that symbiose between them and us, and even to buy their merchs.. We want them to be so high that no one can touch them or hurt them anymore, coz their music (at least for us) is so great made with intelligence, poetry, talent and values.. They truly deserve the recognition.
completely agree. we don’t need the “next BTS’. we have OUR BTS. we also can’t have another MJ or Prince or James Brown or any of the greats replicas. that’s just not possible and even if there is a ‘twin’ somewhere that is only what he or she will be.. a ‘twin’. originality, talent and good music, that is what’s needed. copy is nothing but a copy
There was an award show I think it MAMA or MMA can't remember but a VCR started playing before their performance at first I thought it was BTS going to performance but when I saw it was another group I was shocked because it sounded and looked like a BTS VCR until I saw the gg pop up in the video. It reminded me of the Love Yourself campaign.
BTS is BTS and there's no next BTS. and as Suga said they can be next someone. BTS is really great artists and they are great human beings too. They didn't want to be like someone, they wanted to be themselves and that's what they are doing
SuperM is such a sad story. Each member individually are really good, like fire good. Voices, performances, dances. Baekhyun voice and how he control his instrument is good. Kai and Taemin sing and are best dancers. TEN, omg. Lucas and Mark rap, Tae Yong does all. I'm Army but I listen to Baekhyun, Kai, Taemin and TEN. When this group debuted I was a little excited for it and then there was jopping. The end.
21:25 Okay so between 2017 and 2018 kpop agencies used to make meetings to discuss bts successful there is articles about it so they studied their success and a lot of groups that time were promoted and still to this day as the next bts or surpassing bts it's so weird and yes those articles were from jyp and if I'm not wrong he was the first to push the idea of next bts in 2017 with his group stray kidz before even debuting I witnessed it but I'm not sure if he was the first one
If you see older fans in a new group it's because they like the music, they like the stage presence and the total package brings back a kind of nostalgia for when good music was made. Edit: The minute I saw BTS I thought The Temptations, The Ojays and etc. that my mom listened to, The Jackson 5 and the Silvers my sister listened to and The New Edition, NKOTB, etc that I listened to and BSB, B2K, Destiny's Child, Chris Brown and Usher My kids listened to.
Thank you for your reactions! It's nice hearing someone who is active in the industry share their take on it. Keep up the good work! Also, you mentioned FLO in the video, I don't know them but if I'm not mistaken Namjoon posted a song of theirs in his Insta story a few days ago (fellow ARMYs let me know if i am wrong)
1. Korean media is controlled by the big 3. It's why bts don't appear in korean articles that often. And entertainment companies pay media to write about their own groups. They also pay them to trash bts occasionally. 2. Yes, kpop is corporate. Its plastic and copies everything bts does and makes it so fake.. The love Yourself trilogy by bts was one of the most heartfelt and powerful stuff in music, but kpop took that and bastardised it. Bts touched so many hearts with the love yourself albums and kpop trashed it by copying them without substance. I am so mad about this.
What's even maddening is kpop stans claiming that the love yourself series was a marketing ploy. As someone who was with them during their path to loving themselves, reducing their journey as a mere marketing ploy not only makes me angry but also hurt. :( When it was the other companies that treated loving oneself as another "trend" that they should follow to exploit fans
29:44 He's also outright insulting 2NE1 saying Blackpink is a prettier verison of them. Heck no, 2NE1 is way~ better then Blackpink. They actually had passion for music, and you could _feel_ it. Listening to 2NE1 is a good time, but I can't with Blackpink. Just can't. Smh.
21:37 journalistic ethics? i'm sure ur not new to this but biased articles are very common. these record labels are not called "the big 3" for nothing. they have immense power in the korean media world and having favourable articles written about their groups happens all the time. u might remember in a previous boracity video where she included a journalist talking about this particular subject.
Agree! Chasing their accomplishments and trying to "beat" them, I think gives tunnel visions. Focusing on awards & accomplishments, that's not what real artists do, they focus on their art; lyrics, music, presentation, not beating someone. I agree that BTS' accomplishments are NOT K Pop's accomplishments, there is an interest in K Pop right now because of BTS, they should take this opportunity given to them by BTS to present their art; not lip sync to music or focus on being good looking. So much more could be said, but in the end I think it was pretty well said in this video.
YG disband 2NE1 before the debut of BP, one of the members of 2NE1 said that YG disband them without telling them, She realized about the disband for tv first.
Yes and CL even revealed in an interview that YG came at the time to their rehearsals when they hadn't any make-up and said in front of them they're ugly.. and in auditions they rejected anyone who is fat for them... For example I read that the first time TOP from BigBang auditionned he wasn't accepted because he was fat even if he was GD's friend, so he did a radical diet than auditionned again.... Unacceptable especially when they were supposed to represent hiphop, the culture doesn't care about your appearance, you just have to be true and authentique... I think those Big3 label subverted the culture and made it about visual and superficial more than about authenticity, and that always infuriate me.
21:28 mate! They don't just pay journalists to use certain words, they can write the entire article for them and pay for it to be released. Media play is HUGE in korea, and even though HYBE outsells the big 3, the big 3 are still predominant in the industry with years worth of connections, blackmail, and power to their names. They can kick you from the industry if they want to.
Would you ever consider listening to BTS entire discography? From A-Z I mean? It's a great way to see how they've just continued to grow as artists and individuals. The journey'll be quite long ofc, but the slower to properly see the growth the more rewarding I feel.
EDIT: This is AnimeHeartss btw... changed my look just an FYI ;) This is why I haven't been able to fall in love with another KPOP group as much as I love BTS. BUT there are a few I like: Stray Kids and TXT (4th Gen boy groups). I am starting to really like New Jeans and Lesserafim as well (4th Gen girl groups). The thing about TXT, New Jeans, and Lesserafim is they are actually groups UNDER BigHit (now Hybe), so OBVIOUSLY they are not trying to become the next BTS as they all love and respect BTS as their seniors in the company. They are younger than them and speak about them as role models, but even more than that, they learned from BTS and focus on their own music and originality. Being under Hybe is great too, because obviously they know how to make good music. Stray Kids is an outlier and guilty of a lot of the things she talked about here, BUT that doesn't take away from their music. They are by far the best KPOP group in 4th Gen (Tho TXT is closing the gap FAST), and I'd just be a hater if I didn't recognize that. BTS, on the other hand, is 3rd Gen; along with BLACKPINK, who are the best girl group in 3rd Gen, but I personally do not favor them at all. Rundown of the popular KPOP groups if you are interested in delving in further: (BG = Boy group. GG = Girl Group) (2nd Gen) BIGBANG (BG) GIRLS GENERATION (GG) [I would be lying if I said there weren't more, but these were the only two that really broke into the western music market before BTS. These bands are no longer together though.] (3rd Gen) BTS (Obviously) BLACKPINK (GG) EXO (BG) TWICE (GG) SEVENTEEN (BG) [Western market hits who still make music to this day. A tiny lil background: these groups were in constant competition with BTS and their companies did underhanded things to outshine them. SO, for future reference, ARMY typically hates these groups a lot. A lot of the plagiarism claims, attacks from fandoms when BTS won awards, and horrible insults and "cancel attempts" came from fans of these groups. Basically, what I'm saying is there is bad blood here lol. I personally don't care about any of that, they aren't my faves because I like music with a message that's written by the artists themselves. These groups do not have that. 4th Gen is when KPOP groups really started writing their own lyrics and not just following trends. They still have some bops I fuck with tho!] (4th Gen) Stray Kids (BG) TXT (HYBE BG) ITZY (GG) ATEEZ (BG) (G)I-DLE (GG) (this group contains the best female rapper in KPOP HANDS DOWN IDC WHAT NO ONE SAYS YOU CAN FIGHT ME ON IT) [Again, there are SO MANY MORE, because after BTS so many other KPOP groups became popular. TBH I only mentioned the ones who are the MOST famous AND have good music.] Honorable Mentions because I like them and they are popular in 4th Gen but not as popular in the West as the ones above: ENHYPHEN (BG) LE SSERAFIM (GG) New Jeans (They actually just broke a KPOP GG record, so I think their popularity is about to shoot up this year.) [All Hybe groups, and tbh, I look to Hybe for good KPOP nowadays lol] Now, if you'd like me to send you like... the Top 1-3 songs from any of these groups so you can dabble your toe in a bit just let me know and I'll shoot you an email :) And yes. It is VERY popular for KPOP groups to copy others. Even before BTS. If a group had a song or album that got popular globally even a little, they would mimic it for years. That's honestly how KPOP started tbh. I think that's why BTS was so unliked in Korea when they debuted, because everything about them was just different and they didn't like that. Little did they know, them being different is what made them who they are today lol. Yet, they still haven't learned this.
Are those locs that I spy?👀 Send the email it would be a lot easier to keep track of the suggestions as these comments go in the ether once I respond. I know very little about k pop so I have a lot to learn culturally and musically despite already having a musical bag myself. I’ll keep a look out for your email with the suggestions.
17:48 i just came her to say that a sht ton of armys LOOOOVEEE FLO, some weeks ago namjoon uploaded a screenshot on his instagram of him listening to FLO and we lost it 😭. their music is just so good and they are amazingly talented, i hope we can get a collab hehe 😅
3:00 Actually in kpop 7-8 members is the most common and there are groups with WAY more members. Like: -the group "SEVENTEEN" that has 13 members - the group "NCT" that has 23+ members and could possibly have more For example 40:43 You're so right about it being that it's something that's not around any longer. I'm a black girl from Compton and I grew up on old school music like the coasters, the platters, temptations, the marveolettes, Frankie lymon and the teenagers, new edition, Jackson 5, boys2men, the four seasons, Isley brothers, Billie holiday, Rosetta tharpe ECT and I also grew up on alot of different foreign music in the 90s and Early 2000s. My brother used to listen to Yoon mirae (she a biracial Korean idol/rapper/singer whose married to TIGER JK a Korean rapping legend) and so I was introduced to Korean music at an early age. I knew of groups and artists and loved it because it reminded me of Motown groups and 80s hip hop and r&b groups with a twist. with all the artistry, the showmanship and the dancing. But BTS did it on another level. They elevated that artistry, hardwork and showmanship of kpop with the fact that they also wrote their own music and had a love and respect to the music that came before them in both kpop and western music and they pay homage. They have respect for music in general. There are other artists new and old I've been introduced to because some of BTS goes live to play music that they listen to and like 🤷🏾♀️ of course BTS arnt the only kpop groups that writes there own music ( SEOTAEGI and the boys, BIGBANG and newer groups like ATEEZ and STRAYKIDS being some examples) but like I said before BTS in my opinion did it on a whole different scale. And that's not a bad thing for the other groups. In my opinion a good artists can take an idea that's been done before and turn it into something new that still pays homage and respect to where it came from yet it feels completely there own.
I think 7-8 is now more normal. However when BTS debut I remember videos and people in Korea talking about how their are so many members…although I could be wrong and just be something they wanted to say to hate on them…
@@amberpearce710 I mean, it's a mix of both I would say. 1st and 2nd Gen kpop has a more common 4-5 members but the most popular groups from 2nd and 3rd gen like super junior,SHINee and girls generation have pretty big groups member numbers 🤷🏾♀️ so the faces and popular groups of kpop tended to have alot more members but the average were closer to 5 members from what I remember
@@amberpearce710 you are definitely correct about it being WAY more common now than in the past, that's for sure. either way, It's still really fun for new kpop fans to see big groups
@@flovonnejohnson707 personally if the groups has more then 7-8 it kind of deters me to listen to them. Granted I am open to listen to music but I will unfortunately be that person but sometimes their literally is too many people for a group (in my opinion). It was hard enough learn every BTS member (and I am still learning about them) and to keep up with 7 members and I can’t imagine doing that with a groups with tons of members. Doesn’t mean I won’t be willing listen to their music but it does hold be back or deter me…(in my opinion). I hate to be that person but I am just beinging honest.
28:15 Not gonna lie when SM said they will make a super group with the most talented/popular members of their groups I was excited. Because kpop groups usually collab at the end of the year festivals and it is fun to see their different styles together on stage. I personally am not a fan of any of the groups and their songs, because they just aren't my style and they don't even have a message to try to connect to; BUT again: this was a super group, one member has been an idol literally a decade by that point so my hopes were high since this were experienced people in their 20s not young children debuting for the first time. But damn Jopping was so bad, I checked out the whole album because my best friend is a huge fan of one of the members, and we were both so confused why SM gave them such bad songs and basically none creative freedom. Which... idk if this is still happening but SM was (or maybe currently is? Idk I dont really follow what SM and their groups do) creating a kpop group based in Hollywood. I remember them holding auditions and everything. Oh and they did the same with their girl idols this year. And again: one of the members has been an idol for over a decade.. and SM still gave (because lets be honest of course the girls werent involved in the creative process) bad songs. And even bad promo, because a lot of people don't even know that they exist (by people i mean kpop fans that KNOW these idols, but have no idea they are releasing songs as a group right now, i only realized because i checked out the complilation of new songs and recognised their faces hahaha)
There's one song that came out just today of this group, i listened because I was curious, and I think that's one of the worst song I've ever heard in my life, kpop and outside kpop combined. I can't believe they managed to do something worse than sticker by nct127. The producer must be trolling at this point. I know music is subjective but COME ON!. If someone told me to create the most UNLISTENABLE song to ever exist, no cohesiveness, bad production, nonesensical lyrics, ear hurting song, iwould do just that. And I'm not hyperbolizing.
@@-amel-9896 oh yeah I saw their song on my recomnded today and that it came out a day ago. I didn't click on it, so idk how it sounds. BUT again: NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT. Like i know I am friends on twitter with people who like the members in the group, but no one ever talks or hypes this 'super girl group'. I never see any clips of their music video, or just any clips in general. Like if it wasn't for the UA-cam algorithm I would have no idea about their comeback..
No one or no kpop group will ever be like BTS. They might get no.1 on billboard, they might have a great song, they might be popular and globally strong, they might win lots of awards. BUT they will not ever bring in korea economic growth to 4.9 billion every year. Like BTS. has Or have a speech at the U.N., or be given specail presidentail pass port. Like Suga says there will not be the next BTS ever !
Fun fact : all of those big 3 ceo were once a huge star as singers in their days. Lee suman(SM) was one of the top3 singers in 80s. Yang, hyeonseok(YG) was member from Seo, teaji n boys. Park, jinyeong(JYP) was big in 90s as well. I think they still want their old glorious days n cannt step back.(sorry. Not sure about their name in English spelling)
and yes, the big 3 idol agencies in south korea, sm, jyp and yg, have had a stranglehold on the kind of articles published in and around the idol industry for a long time. id argue that stranglehold is still very much present because despite how huge bts are worldwide, even to the point of being household names, a lot of the korean general public are a little clueless about them still, beyond their name. crazy the amount of power that the big 3 and broadcasting companies have on korean media. the way bts's achievements are framed in some of those articles that are pushed out is really weird. it's really not a crazy conspiracy and actually well known that some music journalists there are bought out by those companies. mediaplay, view farming, you name it. anything to create a false narrative about the popularity of their artists. some of the inflated numbers don't match their selling power, for example blackpink can barely sell out arenas in the US despite having popularity that apparently rivals bts on paper. i quite like some of blackpink's music, but their numbers sometimes just don't add up. it's odd. not trying to be a hater. blackpink are really huge in south east asia, but not quite as much globally, despite what their marketing would have you think
Really love boracity magazine and you channel to not be scare to stand on what you believe , some issues to resolve can’t wait to be in you patreons.. thank you 💜
what made me mad about SuperM or so called "Avengers of K-pop" among other things is the absolute DISRESPECT SM Entertainment had to put Taemin there. That man debuted in SHINee in 2008 and in 2014 as a solo artist, made a name for himself in Korea and they put him in this stupid group with people who started doing this like a couple of years ago?? To sing about.. jopping?? Like just let the man make bops and hit sick moves like he's been doing unlike some of your other artists..
21:42 Oh yes... SM, YG, and JYP each have pull with different arms of the South Korean media machine so they can absolutely control the narrative. That's why the rise of BTS is so impressive, because not only were they up against better funded groups as far as resources for training and music production, but it was the groups from those three companies that were getting all the media attention. Even still, BTS's achievements are grossly under reported in South Korea.
29:43 how is he not in trouble!? Many things… 1. The company is part of the Big3 and control most things in Korea 2. Korean beauty standards (+with kpop) 3. Hierarchy 4. Maybe because he pays peoples bills… 5. Company fans (their are literal “kpop” fans that are fans/stans of companies. Granted some might just be the only like groups from the company…but…)
The amount of talent that is wasting in SuperM is crazy. When you listen to Taemin and Kai solo album some of the best songs in pop however you put them in superm and it’s blah. I think they need to let them write their own music
I definitely recommend watching "The Most Beautiful Life Goes On 2022 update" by Rice Squad,. It contains a lot of information about BTS, from how and where they started to each individual members as artist!! I love your reactions 😊🙏🏼💜
Media can use the term the next bts without a group or company telling them to use it though. And its sad because some of these groups look up to bts and actually have their own sound their own path and are not trying to be the next bts. But the media makes it hard for these groups.
first, to avoid misunderstandings, the sound you made fun of another K-pop group in the video, they are not lyrics written by the idols, they are made by the company, and they do it because they are afraid and do not have the habit of talking about more human and more "necessary" things in music, because it can cause confusion and they want such a group to be that way, they usually don't let their idol be more of an artist and let him be more of a role model. And they force them to sing in lip sync, they don't let them show their talents, as much as everyone knows how to dance, they don't really care about music, and these groups, even though they're not so good for music, most of them still do success, why most of these K-pop groups are associated with Big 3, SM, YG and JYP. These companies are more likely to make a group famous at any cost. That's why I think Big Hit Music is the best company, because in addition to letting BTS be more free artists compared to other companies, they also have another group, TXT, who are considered to be BTS' children. Even Namjoon, who is a very good composer, helped with their songs, and they are even young, they debuted in 2019, and their music, even though they are not all composed by them, being by company composers, are not bad, besides having help from the BTS members, especially Namjoon. At Big Hit they don't hire these types of amateur producers
Did RM help with more than one TXT song? RM has done songs multiple artists under BigHit, but his focus is mostly on BTS or his solo stuff. Him writing for TXT was a special request by Bang Sihyuk because everyone else was stuck on the lyrics for that song.
@@jessicapierce3027 RM recently help Soobin from TxT (not sure what/if it’s involve music), Soobin said he admired him even more from that session and it’s really help to streamline his thoughts. Suga also said younger artist reached out to him for advised.
Genuinely speaking if Stray Kids weren't under JYP I think they are genuine artists, I saw their show and I liked their passion for music. Specially BangChan, Han and ChangBin and ofc other 5 too Besides BTS, In overall KPop, I found only them as genuine artists
In SK, the Big 3 (sm, yg and jyp) have power with the media companies (tv networks) and some journalists and news agencies. It's why BTS had a lot of trouble trying to be seen on tv, in SK kpop music shows are HUGE, because Bang PD angered people IMO. He made Big Hit because he thought the way the agencies ran wasn't beneficial and he thought he could do music with more kindness to the artists. He was a hit songwriter but here he is insulting the systems that most of the agencies ran on. So all the approaches the group used to be visible because they weren't getting many tv appearances helped people to see them and relate to them. In the video about their hardships, you saw the clip about the journo asking about plagiarism. Come to find out that writer was behind most of the articles favoring YG and his artists. He was his stooge. In the video where you saw the two men talking about the differences in articles BTS gets over the articles others got for smaller achievements showed the bias. ARMY spoke to Koreans when they travelled to Busan for the free concert BTS did as ambassadors for Busan's bid for the world expo and many had no idea about how big globally BTS became. They said they never saw many articles about them. Side note: actually two of the heads of the Big 3 had/have music careers. YG was a member of the group that backed the father of kpop Seo Taiji. He was a "boy" in the group Seo Taiji and Boys. JYP has a singing career that he still is active in.
Lee Soo Man was in a group in the early '70s to late 70s before going to the states to study computers I think so not Kpop as we see it in beginning or now
Stray kids being self producing i respect a lot and if you were to ask Bang Chan if they're the next bts he'd obviously be uncomfortable, stray kids are stray kids in the same way bts are not "the Beatles of 21st century". The media are the ones playing this game, not other kpop groups
Here we are, 4 months after your your reaction, and the 'next BTS' emerged to be....BTS. 😅 Between JHope's Lollapalooza ticket sales, RM's amazing collabs Jimin smashing records for his Face album and Suga killin' it and selling out on tour, they're the next BTS. Can't wait to see what V and Jungkook bring! It'll be amazing.
No one can ever make a new bts. Bts will always be bts no one can replicate them at all. I hate that people are saying oh this group is the next bts it's insulting.
21:35 others have said this but yes…SM, YG, and JYP (also known as the Big3) told a TON of power in pretty much everything in korea when it comes to digital/broadcasts/things like night shows/ etc. of the media, not 100% sure on this but even dramas (because they can get their members to be actors easier-but I could be wrong), etc… Edit: these days people like to put Hybe in it so it being the Big4 but from my knowledge even as big as they are don’t still don’t hold as much power as the Big3…(at least in Korea)
Boracity research is off the charts and this is one of my favorites. I enjoyed this reaction and laughed out loud so many times to your reaction; your facial expressions crack me up!!! (Joppin!!! 🙄🙄🤣🤣) Thanks for posting! (PS: You should check out Boracity's video on BTS vs Boybands.....)
superm is still such a waste to me. they are really really good individually. one of the members, taemin, is a veteran artist in kpop and probably considered the best dancer in the industry. his role model in michael jackson and his music is really good. kai and ten are also such good dancers, they also have amazing vocalists and they’re all good friends. but their music was just noise and high notes with a hard choreo. the lyrics were nonsense too.
No one forced any of these guys, they went for superm willingly. This their decision and their shame. They really believed that they can get BTS results
I disagree for Taemin as the best dancer in the industry. Nope. We can have preferrences but technically he isn't. I'll go to someone who is more diverse and versatility and taemin is good when he doing choreograph dance but free styling? Nope. That is what sm and majority of kpop downside. They aiming for flawless performance in expense for artistic freedom to the point they looks like sterile and robotic. Jimin is far better than him. He is a student of modern contemporary while he could do hiphop too but still Jhope is far better than him on hiphop dance genre. He is the same level w/ JK. And JK is a perfectionist.
@@rivarosemontefalco5070 that’s why i said “considered”. my fav dancer is jhope but i acknowledge that all the well-known choreographers in the kpop industry give the best dancer title to taemin, most professional dancers analysis do too.
@@piedpluto which doesn't proved anything bec that's what they doing on the vocalist ranking. The tier list thing. We already in the video commentary talking about mediaplaying and we both already know how big 3 companies have still a tight hold on korean media. The fact you got your comment that the professional dancer w/in "kpop" said taemin is "considered" the best is from the same korean journalist or media already tell alot. Once again making a fact out of korean based journalist aren't credible. So Taemin isn't the best may it be "considered" or not.
The power of the big 3 kpop companies IS their connections to media. The way BTS is downplayed and sabotaged by media in South Korea is widely known. And yes, the companies tell the media what to write and say
Dear Lord. That song Jopping --- I felt embarrassed on behalf of all the members when it came out after aaaaaalll the hype. A lot of us wanted them to be good. But at least they looked like they were trying to have fun with it... I guess 🤷♀️
The girl version of super M, got the beat, made an even worse song than jopping, i didn't think it could be possible. BoA is 35 year old singing "STEP BACK STEP BACK SILLY GIRL" unironically i can't believe this
"Somebody's getting fired!" "You spent my money on that!" Those two lines basically sums up what should be the result in these labels failed attempts.💜💜
lmao why people are so mad at the "avangers of kpop" phrase, isn't it obvious it just means like people coming from diffrent groups to form one team... People were joking about "avangers" since produce series, it's not that serious
I don't hate SuperM. They didn't have a choice. Taemin and Kai for example were already good friends when they trained even as they were stuck to different projects/groups - that was when? about 2 decades? a little less? ago. They have a lot in common. And I think at least one of not all other members of the group are friends. They probably do get along. They are also good dancer and singers (no idea if they have good rappers). The problem is that the song was terrible and I'm pretty certain not one of them had anything to do with the creation process other than showing up for recording. That is *not* their fault. Lee Soo Man is a micromanager. I think it has something to do with how Idol music came into existence. Lee Soo Man is part of that. But one of his first signings was caught with drugs - which is a big "no-no" and send that man to prison. The result was probably even more micromanging and the more time went the more he did it. It was not unsuccessfull but also dehumanizing and exploitive. And he pretty got away with it. Till some members of TVXQ sued at least - which lead to better rules/laws also for the artists. Unfortunately SM Ent. has had a strong hold on the entertainment industry and those members had no chance to appear on any show after despite being superstars before. The individual versions of an album? is actually pretty normal for Idol Music. Part of the CD package - when you don't buy the bare bones - are usually a photobook and collectible photocards (randomly added naturally). Since I never bought an individual Album I'm not entirely sure what it is exactly added - but it would not surprise me if the photoalbum was only of that member and I know the photocard(s) at least is(are). (Neither IVE nor TXT even want to be "The next BTS" - IVE at that point was maybe 1 year old - rookies - and TxT are actually nicknamed "BTS's babies" as they debuted under the exact same label. TxT admires them and the BTS members dote on them a little - maybe not as much anymore because now TxT are all adults but still) And yes - as others have mentioned - the Big3 have quiet a bit of power over the media attached to the entertainment industry that goes even farther than "if you don't do that we will not sent our artists to your programs". Idol music has "concepts" for entire albums and MVs - there was at least a time where there was nothing real about that. Concepts are not bad per se but they need to be filled with meaning and a lot of artists - or at least their labels - just don't - a big reason being that the labels let others write the music for them and they have no input. Bang Si-Hyuk once - about the time TxT was created - said that he rather wanted a childish concept that is authentic than a well thought out one/a big idea that is not. That is how the music for his artists is created and you even can notice it with the new rookie groups debuting under HYBE. The creation process is so important. In Korea feminism is unfortunately seen as "men hating" and female entertainers/athlets go before the press to tell them they are not feminist. Konfuzius created a strict rank system of who is in charge. Women only enter the equetation once: less than men. The rest is about men. Sadly the "conservative" politicians are again in charge and that means step backs for womens rights. If you feel this men in charge are iffy? it is because they are. One actually sabotaged one of his girl groups so they wouldn't become too successfull - because he "loved" one of the members. He is actually proud of that and married her. He thinks it is "romantic" 😑 (These people in charge? do actually know about music/sang themselves as singers/dancers and do write music; Lee Soo-Man was still very involved in the creation of "Jopping" - interesting enough a British documentary about K-pop - one of the better ones actually - has filmed some of the creation process of that song - Lee actually believed that the song could be on the charts ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) Thank you for watching! You nice! Keep going! 💜

I genuinely cannot express my rage when SuperM came out. At first I anticipated it because individually they're really good, some are even veterans in the kpop scene. And then they came out with....jopping.
Taemin did not bust his ass for years to debut in another group to sing about jopping.
The award shows were really BTS vs Members of BTS in multiple categories 😂
That’s a strong group to be from.
Korean music labels are very powerful. They have major shareholder stakes in digital media and broadcast media companies. They're just not asking for certain words to be used, they are writing the whole article and sending in for publication
Omg your face with the "jumping" and "popping" thing especially in Ellen show 🤣🤣🤣🤣
😭😭😭it was dead the instant I saw it.
I also remember a line that he said
"The purpose is more important than the goal"
“The reason for Bangtan’s success? I don’t know either, why in the world would such a thing exist, It’s just that we all ran strenuously, It’s just that we ran no matter what others said, The answer is here, hahaha”

He had a "news" person come and work at making a program saying he was the "creator" of the kpop system so therefor he should be the one that should be said to have "created" BTS. >.>
On not submitting to Grammies and other American shows, most Korean agencies didn't submit to US market awards because they had Korea and they were big in Korea and if they were big in Korea they had MADE it.
And they announced they are bringing them back again this year. I honestly feel bad for them.

Yes, that is highly recommended as well.
But what is even more funny is the fact that their sales from korean stores were counted for BB 200, so if we will talk straightforward - their #1 was a scam
Let me explain further bc it was a huge controversy back then. SuperM and their labels had really thick faces to celebrate that fraudulent they pull out
P.S. let's not start with the amount of bundles they have done ( 50-60 different kinds of bundles, even " buy now - pay later " poster from target which price was 10$ ). It was so freaking embarrasing, even koreans didnt acknowledged their #1 as something to be proud of
Bundling at it's highest level 😅😅😅😅
the only other kpop group who got #1 on bb 200 apart from them and bts are stray kids and i heard their company (jyp) did some scam with warehouses and different versions as well.
@@hopeworld0824 it's not even bundling, it's straight scam when they found a way to count korean stores sales to BB 200
@@forg_tful. Blackpink got a number 1 too on the bb 200 chart with Born Pink.
You just have to find the ones that weren't paid by the Big3 haha
If you're talking about ethics in South Korea, you should look up chaebols and nepotism. Lots of problematic stuff there.
29:41 He created 2EN1 and kept promoting them as an "ugly group". I grew up on 2EN1 and they had GREAT music. He caused the women of 2EN1 so many issues that they're still dealing with today.
Flo is incredible ‼ i truly admire their talent.
Cold group.
Like BTS made 42M$ from selling of limit edition of Proof physical album ( 150K copies at biggest ) worldwide and sold 3,5M copies of Proof beside this limit edition where the prices started from 25$ to 70$
BTS is BTS, me is me, you is you, that's the fact that u can't change.💜😘
bts is the best at being bts, end of the story
Fellow ARMY here. I have been watching a lot of your content as of late and I am always interested in your knowledge and insight with regards to BTS...you are very objective and fair with your opinions.
However--- this one was straight comedic gold. I laughed so much at your commentary... so witty and snarky in your intolerance. Your exhaustion juxtaposed with bewilderment was just SO funny and entertaining. I literally guffawed MULTIPLE times, omg 🤣
Great content.
💜Ty.
RM post their music on instg today :) I'll for sure check them out.
i love Boys World! i need to check out Flo, I've been hearing about them lately, even before Namjoon posted a story, i guess it's a sign
FLO is literally one of my top artists right now aside from BTS theyre so good💜
FLOOO yes, RM recently reccomended their music, they are so good, i'm happy you mentionned them here
2:45 RM interviewed Pharrell some time ago, and Pharrell said something very similar about producing and collabs, if you care about the music your position should be what’s best for the song and not how you get to shine more. It’s a really good interview if you wanna watch it (probably on your own time)
17:55
Lol RM just shared he was listening to them a few days ago
He has a good ear
BTS attitude is the reason why they are big now and no one can copy that never
Of course who they are as people helps, but I don't think that's the main reason why they are big.
Anyways... Joping?? what. 🤣🤣🤣
I'm still mad about it, too. 2NE1 easily makes my top 5 girl groups. Hell, pretty sure they're in my top 3. 😮💨
@@Lapunzel7 you're right, I saw Bom did a small comeback and Minzy had been with a couple of companies but it hasn't worked out yet :)
Boracity is ARMY's inside voice outside... with receipts
completely agree. we don’t need the “next BTS’. we have OUR BTS. we also can’t have another MJ or Prince or James Brown or any of the greats replicas. that’s just not possible and even if there is a ‘twin’ somewhere that is only what he or she will be.. a ‘twin’. originality, talent and good music, that is what’s needed. copy is nothing but a copy
This girl is spitting facts 🔥🔥
The end.
apparently, they are going to have a comeback so guess Soo-man has not given up
It's sadder because I like them all 🥲 As a fan witnessing that is pure agony .
SM idols are amazing but their company brings them down. They could be so much more
Tbh Mark verse save that song
Calling Kpop plastic is kinda harsh. I called it more like a "manufactured and industrial notion system" 😂
@@rivarosemontefalco5070 yes yes... I was just repeating what jurnalist said at one point in the video.
Namjoon actually posted a flo song on his story the other day
He knows the vibes.
Just can't. Smh.
thx for watching… always proud of our BTS,.. and proud to be ARMY #ApoBANGpo 😉
EDIT: This is AnimeHeartss btw... changed my look just an FYI ;)
This is why I haven't been able to fall in love with another KPOP group as much as I love BTS.
GG = Girl Group)
(2nd Gen)
BIGBANG (BG)
GIRLS GENERATION (GG)
[I would be lying if I said there weren't more, but these were the only two that really broke into the western music market before BTS. These bands are no longer together though.]
(3rd Gen)
BTS (Obviously)
BLACKPINK (GG)
EXO (BG)
TWICE (GG)
SEVENTEEN (BG)
[Western market hits who still make music to this day. They still have some bops I fuck with tho!]
(4th Gen)
Stray Kids (BG)
TXT (HYBE BG)
ITZY (GG)
ATEEZ (BG)
(G)I-DLE (GG) (this group contains the best female rapper in KPOP HANDS DOWN IDC WHAT NO ONE SAYS YOU CAN FIGHT ME ON IT)
[Again, there are SO MANY MORE, because after BTS so many other KPOP groups became popular. TBH I only mentioned the ones who are the MOST famous AND have good music.]
Honorable Mentions because I like them and they are popular in 4th Gen but not as popular in the West as the ones above:
ENHYPHEN (BG)
LE SSERAFIM (GG)
New Jeans (They actually just broke a KPOP GG record, so I think their popularity is about to shoot up this year.)
[All Hybe groups, and tbh, I look to Hybe for good KPOP nowadays lol]
Now, if you'd like me to send you like... the Top 1-3 songs from any of these groups so you can dabble your toe in a bit just let me know and I'll shoot you an email :)
And yes.
Are those locs that I spy?👀
Send the email it would be a lot easier to keep track of the suggestions as these comments go in the ether once I respond.
I know very little about k pop so I have a lot to learn culturally and musically despite already having a musical bag myself.
I’ll keep a look out for your email with the suggestions.

Actually in kpop 7-8 members is the most common and there are groups with WAY more members. Like:
-the group "SEVENTEEN" that has 13 members
- the group "NCT" that has 23+ members and could possibly have more
For example

You're so right about it being that it's something that's not around any longer.
@@flovonnejohnson707 idk this is just my memory from watching older videos…
I think it also might be because it was based on Hollywood it could be how those people interpreted BTS and/kpop….just a thought to think about…
There's one song that came out just today of this group, i listened because I was curious, and I think that's one of the worst song I've ever heard in my life, kpop and outside kpop combined.
31:38 Yes! and that is exactly how Bang Shi Yuk is! And that's why we can Bang Si Yuk (Bang PD) the Father of BTS
Yea that makes a lot more sense why they have that need to be known or seen.
and yes, the big 3 idol agencies in south korea, sm, jyp and yg, have had a stranglehold on the kind of articles published in and around the idol industry for a long time. id argue that stranglehold is still very much present because despite how huge bts are worldwide, even to the point of being household names, a lot of the korean general public are a little clueless about them still, beyond their name. crazy the amount of power that the big 3 and broadcasting companies have on korean media. the way bts's achievements are framed in some of those articles that are pushed out is really weird. it's really not a crazy conspiracy and actually well known that some music journalists there are bought out by those companies. mediaplay, view farming, you name it. anything to create a false narrative about the popularity of their artists. some of the inflated numbers don't match their selling power, for example blackpink can barely sell out arenas in the US despite having popularity that apparently rivals bts on paper. i quite like some of blackpink's music, but their numbers sometimes just don't add up. it's odd. not trying to be a hater. blackpink are really huge in south east asia, but not quite as much globally, despite what their marketing would have you think
Many things…
1. The company is part of the Big3 and control most things in Korea
2. Korean beauty standards (+with kpop)
3. Hierarchy
4. Maybe because he pays peoples bills…
@@izzatys7037 joon "helped" soobin with some leadership questions he had-not the music.
And yet BTS we’re accused of plagiarism for exactly these things. Outfits, hair colours and concepts
Its not kpop its bts pop💜
Genuinely speaking if Stray Kids weren't under JYP
I think they are genuine artists, I saw their show and I liked their passion for music. Specially BangChan, Han and ChangBin and ofc other 5 too
Besides BTS, In overall KPop, I found only them as genuine artists
Today Namjoon Posted a FLO song in his story...
True, people in Busan actually said “so, you are here for BTS??” like they truly perplex people actually show up. It’s insane.
No one can be the next bts😌😌 there will never be next bts
No one can ever make a new bts. Bts will always be bts no one can replicate them at all. I hate that people are saying oh this group is the next bts it's insulting.
21:35 others have said this but yes…SM, YG, and JYP (also known as the Big3) told a TON of power in pretty much everything in korea when it comes to digital/broadcasts/things like night shows/ etc. of the media, not 100% sure on this but even dramas (because they can get their members to be actors easier-but I could be wrong), etc…
Edit: these days people like to put Hybe in it so it being the Big4 but from my knowledge even as big as they are don’t still don’t hold as much power as the Big3…(at least in Korea)
The next BTS is BTS.
Flo is really good !!
29:48 Oh friend, casual mysoginy is the LEAST of YG' s problems. The man is a scoundrel
superm is still such a waste to me. they are really really good individually. one of the members, taemin, is a veteran artist in kpop and probably considered the best dancer in the industry. his role model in michael jackson and his music is really good. kai and ten are also such good dancers, they also have amazing vocalists and they’re all good friends. but their music was just noise and high notes with a hard choreo. the lyrics were nonsense too.
No one forced any of these guys, they went for superm willingly. This their decision and their shame. They really believed that they can get BTS results
@@museofwind9004yeah you’re right about that
I disagree for Taemin as the best dancer in the industry.
And yes, the companies tell the media what to write and say
if you make a group out of 7 most popular idols, that's bts lol avengers were doomed to fail
Dear Lord. That song Jopping --- I felt embarrassed on behalf of all the members when it came out after aaaaaalll the hype. A lot of us wanted them to be good. But at least they looked like they were trying to have fun with it... I guess 🤷♀️
They looked miserable. They didn’t seem to be a team to me more of an assembly of highly talented people.
The girl version of super M, got the beat, made an even worse song than jopping, i didn't think it could be possible. BoA is 35 year old singing "STEP BACK STEP BACK SILLY GIRL" unironically i can't believe this
@@-amel-9896it’s literally a misogynistic song
"Somebody's getting fired!" "You spent my money on that!" Those two lines basically sums up what should be the result in these labels failed attempts.💜💜
Fired with a capital F. 😂😂
@@Jurnalist_ 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Rest in peace, Aaliyah. Gone way too soon. 😞
lmao why people are so mad at the "avangers of kpop" phrase, isn't it obvious it just means like people coming from diffrent groups to form one team...
TxT admires them and the BTS members dote on them a little - maybe not as much anymore because now TxT are all adults but still)
And yes - as others have mentioned - the Big3 have quiet a bit of power over the media attached to the entertainment industry that goes even farther than "if you don't do that we will not sent our artists to your programs".
He thinks it is "romantic" 😑
(These people in charge? do actually know about music/sang themselves as singers/dancers and do write music; Lee Soo-Man was still very involved in the creation of "Jopping" - interesting enough a British documentary about K-pop - one of the better ones actually - has filmed some of the creation process of that song - Lee actually believed that the song could be on the charts ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
Thank you for watching! You nice! Keep going! 💜
When I saw the part where the group had the virtual alter egos, I immediately thought of Beyoncé’s 2008 double album I Am… and Sasha Fierce. 😂
