You are not paying more money and I just get a little fee, that will help me to make more videos
In this video we will share a comparison between the BOSS GT 1000 and the Line 6 HELIX LT. Actually, I hope that this video will be useful for guitarists, who maybe want to buy a new amp modeling and multi effects pedalboard in the 850-1000 price range and are unsure which one to choose. Let me say that both the pedalboards are good options, but maybe one of them has that extra feature that better suite your needs…So, the arguments we will discuss together are: the technical differences between the two pedalboards, in terms for instance of in/out, sampling frequency and so on and so forth…Then we will better listen to the sound differences, that you are already hearing in the demo song…Finally I will give you my 2 cents. BOSS and LINE 6 are using a different philosophy for modeling the amps and the sound of the two units is pretty different even using the same amp at the same setting...also the effects are pretty different in my opinion...and these differences are more obvious in the "more sound" section of this video...Let me know what's your opinion and if these sound differences are a key deciding factor for you...I hope you enjoy and please don't forget to subscribe and hit the notification bell...it would be of a great help!!!

I have had the Boss GT 1000 almost a year now. Still crazy in love with this pedal! Live it is amazing.
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion with us!
Isn't the GT1k really hard to learn...?
@@charles3200 Not really. Little awkward, but once you get the layout it's not bad at all.
@@rolandready3207 what's the feel of it? How natural does it feel picking and attack wise and all that good stuff?
@@charles3200 Actually..i think there is less "option paralysis" with the GT1000....it's so easy to create a great tone without a lot of deep diving..unless that's what you like. Most important that most overlook is going in to the "Inputs" and Outputs" and tweaking and adjusting them to sculpt the units overall tone and response...not just tweaking the amps and effects alone.
One thing that nobody mentions. I had a Helix and was happy until I went on stage at an outdoor festival. Some how a button was pressed by accident and went in to a different mode. I couldn't see the screen in the sunlight!! I was a night mare!! All my programing went out the window. So I went home, got a screen protector, sunvisor which was supposed to help. I didn''t do the trick. I got a GT1000 and haven't looked back.
Thank you so much for sharing! Interesting experience!
Dude! All I can say is that you are just a phenomenal guitar player. It doesn't matter what you play, it just sounds amazing! I purchased your IRs to use on my LT and that sounds great. Thanks for that. And I am amazed that you spend the time to respond to everyone's comments. Thanks Leo!
Hi Irshad, thank you so much! I'm super happy that you like the videos and my playing!!! Thank you also for purchasing the IRs!
I try to answer to all of your, as all your comments, suggestions, compliments, criticisms really help me a lot!
Thank you once more!
Your playing is so incredibly beautiful and impossible to replicate. This review convinced me to buy the GT1000 and I just got it today. Thank you.
Thank you so much, this is really a great compliment that makes me happy!!!
Thank you also for sharing your final decision!
I been a Boss follower for years, even now I still use GT8 pedal board in my studio recordings but listening to both of these units; for the price, sound and size the Boss still my favorite
Hi, thank you for sharing your experience and opinion with us!
I still use boss GT8 too!! It’s a great guitar pedal. How is the dinamyc of the GT1000?
Agreed!
I'm went for the GT-1000 and have no regrets after 4 months of use. The GT gives you a lot of options/possibilities in creating effect-chains with different paths. Im not sure how that compares to the Helix but it would be an important feature for me. How does that compare?
The looper function is nice but for (complex/monster of) machines like this 30 or 60 seconds is nothing. Its like building a big luxury car and then put a simple old radio cassette player in it. A separate looper pedal is needed if you are into that (but then you probably already have one).
Thank you was wondering how smooth the looper is and the recording time but yeah 60 ain’t shit 😂
WOW! This was exactly the video I needed - GT-1000, COME TO PAPA!
Thank you, really appreciated!!!
@@LeoGibsonGtr What is the cab sim selected for GT-1000? From what i can see you've selected 4x12" greenbacks for Helix and tone is exactly like pushing distortion through greenbacks. Mid focused and sparky having almost no that hi-freq sand that other speakers have. I'd say that when it comes to tone speaker is at least half of it.
The grid and presence of the Boss is far superior. This really isn't a competition. There really isn't much to compare. For me as an Audio Engineer, I find it much more easier and fun to tweak a "heavy" sound than a "thin"one. Helix just sounds too thin for me. At least in this "comparison." I am still doing my research at the moment to decide which I will buy. But to be entirely honest, with the sound comparison in this video, Boss is the clear winner.
Hi, thank you so much for sharing your findings!
I too have settled on the BOSS GTK. I am a tapper, and nothing fells and responds like the BOSS. The notes just jump off the fretboard. I use all 3 CC pedals, and there are only 3 tools with that. But maybe the best part of the BOSS, are the natural overtones. That AIRD technology is the GOAT:) Also it has the lowest lag time at 2 milliseconds, which sounded odd at first, coming from a Headrush, which has a great "amp in the room" sound, but the feel is horrible for a tapper:) The Fractal is just ridiculously complicated, and you gain nothing from that. We play everything from beach, to head bangin' over the top rock, and I can do it all with 2 presets and 3 CC pedals (1 on board and 2 external).
Hi Leo, Thank you for the great comparison between the two units. I recently bought the Boss GT 1000 and I am loving it. i was thinking to return the boss gt 1000 and get the line6 helix LT because boss has a fixed set of effects block and I was unable to add more than one reverb. After hearing the two, I have decided to keep the Boss GT 1000 because it sounds more natural. I found the sound of Line6 helix LT a bit thin and lifeless. Thanks again for the video.
Thank you, really appreciated!!!
True boss is little bit better
No Vinay. I have Helix floor and I am able to replicate any damn sound on earth. Trust me. I am far more happier than the time wheni had BOSS GT100 and i was frustrated dialing any crunch to high gain sound. I used Zoom 505, G9.2tt, ME80, GT100 and finally Helix floor and now i feel i would never have to upgrade or change after Helix. It is simply mindblowing. and UI is out unexplainably intuitiive and simple. Since i have used GT100(never GT1000), i can tell you that upto GT100 clean tones are brilliant but high gain is hopeless. Whereas HELIX is like a DIAMOND. You can apparantly get anysound you imagine.
@@purplelusture you can't compare gt100 to gt1000, totally different thing
@@purplelusture . Helix is better for amp modeling but for effects and anything else boss is better.
GT100 is older the GT1000 is better.
Great review, thanks!!! I'm partial to Boss also. Strange the Helix does not support bluetooth when the Firehawk FX fully supported it. I came from Boss pedals too, I have a Helix LT but I have to say when i dusted my GT100 off, the sounds brought a smile. Considering going to a GT1000.
Hi, thank you Terry, both for the compliments and for sharing your opinion!!!!
Bluetooth is simply to outdated to be built in the helix. Its just not professional
Thanks for the video! I helped me a lot to understand the difference between the two. In my case, I've been using boss pedals since 2005 so I was sure to buy the gt-1000, but I wanted to hear about the options available as well. The weight is a key factor to me as I would use it at home but transport it from time to time, and I have a chronic pain that makes me appreciate the lighter GT-1000. The line6 sounds great. I would use it if I planned to keep it at home. I have a Korg Kronos, which sounds great, but is not easy to transport, so I don't want the same to happen with the pedalboard. Great comparison nonetheless!
Thank you Eddy, really appreciated and thank you for sharing your opinion with us!
probably a pod go?
I have just subscribed today I love the way you compare gear, I was not sure what to buy but your review leaned me toward the gt1000, thank you!
Thank you Mike, really appreciated!
Well done video! I have had the GT-1000 for quite some time now and use it primarily as a pedal board. The sounds are quite good but to my messed up ears, nothing beats the sound and feel of a tube amp, like that Mesa Boogie (MK3?) you have pictured in the video. Then again, the GT-1000 is much much kinder to my back 😉
Hi Matthew, thank you for your message and your feedback!!! I also love the sound of the tube amps...I really love them...actually the Mesa amp you see is a Caliber 50+...I have it since more than 25 years...and still rocks!!!
I got the GT 1000. Love it. I hope future updates improve some things about the UI and the workflow for building and editing your tone/chain.
But the thing sounds great. I haven't played a modeller that sounds better.
Hi thank you for sharing your opinion and experience!
Have you gigged with it? How was it sound wise and feel wise?
@@glp046 It's great. Much better than the ME-80 I used previously. Sounds great out of a PA. I typically bring it to Open Mic Nights and plug into the house PA system, that way I don't risk ground loop problems or having to troubleshoot my analog pedalboard for a 15 minute set.
And one time a guitarist came up to me was asking me how I got this great sound because he's struggling to sound that good with his tube amp. And at the time all I was using was the Fender Twin model and some spring reverb directly to a PA.
As far as this vs the Helix though, they are both great and nobody will be able to hear the difference in a live setting. So it's just a matter of which you like more.
I think the Boss Gt1000 sound more dynamic and closer to the real analog stuff I've ever tried. The screen is also more primitive, but for this reason it is easier to see in an outdoor setting than the helix screen. However the UI clearly isn't as user-friendly as the Helix. And the Helix has more effects. I think you've got everything you need on the GT1000, but Helix offers a lot more specific models. Like they have multiple flavors of the Big Muff, whereas the GT1000 has one big muff model and it just has a ton of editable parameters.
One thing I'll say is that the CORE doesn't save you money. If you buy the core, you may find yourself needing an external expression pedal and a midi footwswitch. Due to its form factor, it's easier to incorporate with a larger pedalboard than the full size GT1000 is. But when you do that, you ultimately end up spending just as much money in the end.
Core = Better for using on a pedalboard with other pedals.
Full Size = Better for replacing your pedalboard entirely.
Since the Core doesn't really offer enough switches for you to use it as a pedalboard replacement on its own, you really spend the same amount of money with either option.
Dear Leo, thank you! You really do a great work with your videos and I really enjoy watching them. I just wanted to know if you plan to do a comparison video between the Boss GT-1000 and the Fractal FM3. Best regards.
Thank you Erik, really appreciated!!!!
Yes, I will do a video comparison FM3 vs GT 1000...even because I'm also curious...:) . Nevertheless I kindly ask you to be patient, as I have many requests and a lot of videos in the pipeline.
Thank you once more!!!
Top tier comparison videos. Great work man
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like the video!!
Many thanks Leo. After years of being blinded by all the extra tech., I've come back to the fundamental issue that sound quality is absolutely key. I probably have no more than a dozen sounds (which I may wish to alter a little) so I'd like a fairly broad range of sound options but they must sound how my ear wants them to sound. I too may be a little biased since I have owned a Boss GT-5 and GT-8 over the years but listening to the sound clips, the Helix has the edge on the clean arpeggios but once there is any 'drive' added to the sound in the solos etc, the Boss thickens the sound where the LT is a little thin for my own taste.
I'd quite like the LT's screen but when it comes down to it, I'd find the GT1000 much more to my style taste (I like a bit of drive in most of my patches). Very interesting video though Leo. Thankyou.
You are welcome Nick, I'm happy to have been of some help and thank you so much for sharing your opinions and your findings!
There was only 1 preset that I liked more on the Helix. To me the BOSS GT1000 sounds much better. Was surprised the how different it actually sounds.
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion!
Very helpful! Thanks! I'm now leaning towards the GT1000 also. I'm a longtime Boss GT FX player... I think I've had 4 different models over the yrs! Should've bought stock in the company.
Thank you, I'm happy that you find the video helpful!!!
Thank you also for sharing your findings!
i like the sound from BOSS GT 1000 better i have a blackstar amp do i need to change that for the bedst result ? by the way you are fantastic on guitar
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you like my playing!
Well, these modellers give you more options, more portability, etc....but I would say that you absolutely need to sell your amps.
Thank you!
Excellent video and lovely playing! It is so nice to finally hear demos from a musician actually playing the gear instead of noodling or rambling.
For me it would be difficult to decide. For example right now Boss released the GT-1000 core which would be smaller than both these units but with the sound and signal path options of the GT-1000 minus the switching. As you I am very comfortable with the Boss effects. I hear something interesting going on in the upper range of the GT-1000, almost like more air, a very natural attack vs the more masked quality of the Line 6. On other hand the Boss sounds kind of fizzy for my taste and the line 6 sounds warmer which I prefer. I do know that I have run into this situation with other Boss gear and I have been able to dial out the fizz. I just wish their base sound started closer to the ball park because without giving it a try it is hard form me to discern if I would be able to tame it. The upside I see about the new GT 1000 unit is that one could do everything that you can with the bigger unit minus the switching capabilities wether as with the smaller Line 6 units one always has to deal with the lower processing situation and how it limits what you can have in the chain.
Hi Isaac, thank you very much, your compliments really means a lot to me!
Thank you also for sharing your opinion! My only concern with the GT 1000 core is the price...in my opinion it is too high and close to the bigger GT 1000...maybe I will do a review about the GT 1000 core as soon as I will be able to get one!
Thank you!
Leo Gibson That is a great observation about the price, I agree.
For me it comes down to feel. I am a tapper, and nothing feels like the GTK, especially with the overtones. The AIRD Tech is unmatched, IMO.
Phenomenal playing! GT1000 sounds so much better to my ears, but as I bought one I am biased. It always sounded less digital to me. More organic.
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you appreciate the playing!
Thank you also for sharing your findings!
What's most important for me (and should be for anyone who cares about their tone and sounding good) is the sounds and feel of the unit. I have owned pretty much every modelling/profiler and most sound great but the Boss just has a feel to it that I wasn't getting from the other units...the closest was the Kemper. I mean really...how many amps and effects do you really need? What I love about the Boss is it's stripped down format with only the essentials. Create your sound...tweak it and that's it!! And let's talk about the "feel" of the unit. I did a direct side-by-side with a few other units and the Boss and it's true what they say about the A.I.R.D tech. The feel under the hands and the response of your attack is quite noticeable. I feel that the GT1000 has a richer sound to it and once you learn how to adjust the ins and outs a fiddle around with the EQ-ing and cabs and mics...it's all gravy from there!!
Hi, thank you so much for sharing your experience and opinion!
Leo, great video!! Thanks.. I also have a GT but the main differences are that I used to be a Line6 & Boss guy.. also I use a LES Paul, a Godin nylon & 5string bass...
Totally agree with you but I’ve had my GT a year now, love it but missed some of the effects line6 bring to the table (certain reverbs, delays & synth) so I now run HX effects in 5 cable method into my GT - now I’m like a kid in a sweet shop!!! You should try it 😉👍🏽
Hi thank you so much! GTK+HX effect...this is actually a very good suggestion!!!
Leo Gibson you’re gonna love it
That sound like an overkill
I just got the GT 1000 and love it. Very interesting to hear you're comparison
Hi Charles, thank you for sharing and for the interest in my comparisons!
I’m trying to decide between these two units. Is the boss GT 1000 difficult to run?
@@MrJaydeep777 no it's super easy. Believe me I'm usually intimidated by this stuff and I absolutely love it.
@@MrJaydeep777 Hi, it's not so easy. But the tablet app or the pc app are very easy.
Completely agree, I had a Helix LT and it was often a problem to fit it in stage, later I got the Pod Go but it was too limited and now I use a Boss GX-100 which is even smaller. I do womder though if the GT-1000 sounds better than the GX-100

What I find mind boggling about these 2 pedals is that the helix sounds phenomenal when practicing solo, and the gt1000 just sounds so much better mixed.

An excellent comparison video thank you. I have come up through the GT-6/GT-100 route and so may be biased too but I did think on your video the Boss shaded it on tone.

Thanks for the great demo! Fantastic guitar playing from both of you!
Hi Richies, thank you so much, I'm really happy that you enjoy the music!!!!
The Boss gt 1000 sounds nice and warm, the Helix lt sounds more digital.
Hi, thank you for sharing your findings!!!
Ciao Daniele, grazie mille, i tuo complimenti mi fanno veramente piacere! Si, secondo me la GT 1000 è un pò meno user friendly della Helix, anche solo per lo schermo, molto più grande ed a colori quello della Helix, che quindi facilita utilizzo.
Grazie ancora
Great shootout video! Clean tone is similar but sounds slightly better on GT-1000 - a little fuller, though perhaps it could be matched on Helix by adding more bass EQ. Distortion is very different between them. With GT-1000 it's brighter, has more bite and a nice mid-tone. Helix is more smooth and mellow. My initial impression is that I prefer the Helix distortion, but there are things to like about both. I appreciate that you mentioned having a bit of personal bias, as that's important when making a recommendation. Very helpful, thanks!
You are welcome, and thank you for sharing your findings and insights...interesting points!
It looks like Helix has the features and GT1000 has the sound
Nice summary! Thank you for your message!
@@LeoGibsonGtr Ciao Leo, which one for which use case?
Really? I was thinking I liked the sound of the GT1000 until the Helix came in and then I was like wow, that's the sound! What are we hearing differently? I'd really like to figure that out. I usually lean towards Boss, have a GT100 now and looking to possibly upgrade, thus me hitting this page. I hear the Helix as thicker and more in your face and the GT1000 as thinner but with greater clarity. Like the Helix is more amp-like and the GT1000 sounds like it's coming from the board.
@@SvenMayhem Sold my Helix for the Boss, zero regrets. The boss amp sims and fx run circles around the Helix.
@@thecastermaster1 Thanks for the info, guess I’ll chalk it up to UA-cam audio or my speakers. I have to admit I’ve never bought a Boss product I regretted.
Nice guitar playing! Thx for the video.
You are welcome and I'm really happy that you like the playing!!!
Thanks for this comparison video. Very good job!
Thank you Matheus, really appreciated!
Just what the doctor ordered.. :-) I was just thinking if the Boss GT-1000 may be an option for me. I still use my old GT-pro which sounds great used with tube power amp and cab as i do, the speaker emulation is not good though and i also wanted a pedal for gigs so that i can use just the pedal instead of having to bring a whole rig.
I love Boss in general and the quality of their gear, but im definately unsure about the GT-1000. The clean was much better on the Boss and in general the sound of the Boss seemed more "High definition" and the Helix more grainy,. I also just use pretty much one sound for distorted and one for clean, so i also dont need a lot of amps, its just important that it is ones that i like. I agree about the Helix being to big and bulky/heavy, which is not great if you have to carry it and a couple of guitars to a gig, if you go by car it may be ok.
Great video and playing as always !
Thank you Stefan, really appreciated!!!
Really good comparison! Thank you!
You are welcome Tom, I'm happy you like the video!!
Good to see you showing the GT 1000 some love Nita Strauss plays one straight into the PA I have katana thinking of getting this or helix to run into the Flat response power amp Jack
Hi Matthew, thank you for sharing!
If you have a boss katana, boss gtc1000 matches better because of the similarities in tones boss has in my opinion.
I have the helix and I've made it sound just like the boss gt1000 in this video. It sounds like you have more experience dialing in the boss. Great video though.
About to buy the gt1000 now, thank you for the video. How would you run it? I'm thinking 8 in studio monitors.
Hi Brandon, thank you, your appreciation of the video is very important for me! I would use it in 3 way: for recording, via USB, for just playing at home vis studio monitors, for gigging via FRFR speakers.
Thank you for your question!
@@LeoGibsonGtr is it okay to use with normal speakers such as logitech 2+1 getting the sound out from the phone out in the pedal board. btw thnx for the detailed comparison. I have also listened the sounds carefully and think that Boss has better sounds.
I totally agree the Gt1000 is my pick
Hi, thank you for sharing!!!
I have had both units. The size difference and weight is HUGE. Both units are pro sounding you just need to get to grips with but it makes a massive difference IMHO
Yes, the size difference is important. Thank you for pointing it out!
Gt-1000 has polyphonic sounds and instant switching.
Those are the two most important features to me.
I sold my Helix and got the gt-1000 and haven't looked back.
The Helix does has a great interface though.
Hi Adam, thank you for sharing your opinion!!!
Great video! Ideal to get a direct comparison like that in the opening 3 minuets! Thanks 👍
Hi Paul, thank you! Thank you also for your suggestion!
Great comparison, very helpful. I was very surprised to find the boss tone much better to my ears and I definitely like the smaller footprint. I have the Boss GT-1 I bought as a practice pedal I could take anywhere because it's small, cheap and can run on batteries, but I was surprised by how good it sounded and added it to my gigging rig. I have used boss pedals before without liking them that much but this new line sounds great. I also have a Variax guitar though and was curious if a Helix would be an upgrade along with syncing to the variax but after hearing this I don't think it would be worth it. I did try a Helix in a store for a bit and found the sound good but a little lacking in a way I couldn't quite put my finger on. But it is exactly what I am hearing again here so this comparison really helped clarify my hands on impression. Maybe with some more tweaking of the sounds the Helix sound could possibly sound better than the Boss because it seems to have a little more color in it but it sounds a bit weak vs the Boss which is definitely clearer and more punchy. Wonderful guitar playing by the way.
Thank you Micheal, both for the appreciation of the video (which is very important for me) and for sharing your experience!!!
Same for me. Playing live, Boss' stuff always felt better. Line 6 counterparts always seem to emulate amps' sound better in 2D, or when you listen to the playback, but Boss' stuff always seem to be more fulfilling while playing, especially with a band. I'm not sure why Line 6 products are always more hyped.
I much preferred the sound of the Helix, it sounded rawer and less polished than the Boss. It would be very interesting to watch a video that compared the sound of the real amps, such as a Plexi, to the emulations in the Boss and Helix.
Thank you Patrick, for sharing your opinion with us!
Gracias Leo.
You are welcome, I'm happy to have been of some help!
Grazie ancora!!!
Thank you for the best comparison vdo.
I have a question can GT1000 streaming songs from the phone to return input? because I don't see it has an aux in like Line6
Hi, it does not have an aux in as you are writing. Honestly I don't know if what you say it is possible...it should work properly programming the GT 1000, I mean preperly routing the signal for instance avoiding that the return goes through the cab sim, etc... but I'm not sure...
Thank you for your question!
Hey Leo. Nice video. Thanks. Could you compare the sound of the reverbs of which unit? I think is one of the most important effects that really needs to be beautiful, like the strymon Big Sky. Congrats.
You are more than welcome Samuel! You are right, the effects are another interest aspects to check...My only concerns is that it is quite difficult (in my opinion) to evaluate and compare...I will think about it...Thank you once more for your message and suggestions!
Hi Leo, I realized I didn't watched this review before, the Gt 1000 doesn't necessarily sound like the real Marshall but has that saturation and detail on the high end that the Line 6 always miss (Helix sound seems nice but a little muddy sometimes). Considering the Pod Go didn't arrived to my country yet and that I really need to buy a pedalboard right now I think i'd better pay some extra cash for the Gt1000 ($1000 in my country). GT is way cheaper than the Helix LT ($1400) and at least in this video it clearly sounded better, more organic... It would be nice to know how do you compare the Boss with the great sounding Fractal FM3? Thanks for your guidance in all this journey on the pedalboard domain jajjaj your reviews were just what i needed and the demo songs always precise and amazing. Grazie mille! :'D
Hi, thank you Alvaro!!! Many of you are asking for a comparison GT1000 vs FM3...I need time to do it...😊
@@LeoGibsonGtr Oh, that would be perfect :'D, the new detailed format of the reviews would be precise in this case considering that the AIRD technology has that alleged impact on the dynamics and "feel" (in which realm the Fm3 looks like still remains to be the king jaj). Also, one representative effect for the reverb, delay, and od on each unit could be a nice addition to the table considering the legendary boss effects sounds and the Fractal professional usage in that regard (lots of bands with the Axe-Fx III only for the effects...) :'D. It's always difficult to avoid being biased but you are an awesome player (at least better and more creative than what I see in other popular guitarists-gear oriented channels). You have lots of experience and own lots of amps and effects (your top of the line Focal monitors also tells something about your listening "manners", audiophile detected? xD jaja) so don´t be too afraid of giving us more of your direct, honest and "subjective" opinion, I think many of us come here for that and will find it reliable as a connoisseur appreciation. But, of course always having first in hand our own ears for the tone decision. Have a great day, Leo! :'D. I sincerely wish you triple -and more- the number of subs in this 2020 because your channel deserves it! Sorry for the long text, again jaj. Un abrazo desde Perú!
Fun fact, I got a helix LT not to long after it came out. I bought it new from Sweetwater...total cost to my door: 820 USD. Prices have really went up
I got both I use the GT1000 more on studio recordings and live gigs.🤘
Hi, thank you for sharing your experience with us!
Why exactly do you you use the 1000 more? What made you choose it over the helix
Dear Leo, thanks for that great of a comparison and your great intro song and artistic solos, woow!., the sounds could only convince me in one occassion with the Helix, the Boss was sounding better for me on most of the samples you provided, but that is me. Now changing parameter with a tablet (hope also android) is way better then fiddling into the menue..anyway most true is one need basically 4 different sounds ( amps) and a effectbank like dist on, rev on off, delay on off, maybe a mod on off..and a solo boost on and off..the cost is more than reasonable that is not the point...would it be possible to get that “scenario essentials“ not even with a smaller unit by maintaining the same ( nearly) quality of tone...( my gt 001 cannot, since i can only control 1 effect at a time by using a assigned Ev 5 pedal)
In this case one would have a fully fledged pedal board but various amps and cabs..so you can practically play over amp, pa, active monitors or right into Pcs...cost is not main focus its practicallity, size, ease of use and..clear sound is a major key??
Thanks for sharing your modelling series Leo!
Hi thank you for your comment and your support! Well, if you want something smaller and lighter with good quality, in my opinion the GE 250 is a good option. Otherwise you can couple the IRIDIUM with some effects, or for instance with the Nux Cerberus...even-thought I'm not sure you are gonna get the same quality and flexibility of the GT 1000, which in my opinion is a good compromise between quality, flexibility, price and portability. Thank you once more for your appreciation in my music: it is really important for me!!!
@@LeoGibsonGtr you almost pursuaded me..if i listen more to your soft and explosive jazz rock music with the Gt 1000 i am done :-)
Thank you, really appreciated!
Leo thank you for your comparisons, I love them. Could you compare Boss with real Marshall, but not with everything on 12, but try to dial the same sound? Or does this video exists?
Hi, thank you so much, you appreciation is really important for me! I did some comparisons in these videos:
ua-cam.com/video/OG5ek9jWWZE/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/K67ie3geirI/v-deo.html
Please let me now if these videos are what you were searching for.
Thank you!!!
I own so many line 6 and Boss multi efx before, and i can say Boss always wins to me, because its so practical to use, they say helix is better than boss and Headrush, but now i watch this comparison, im decided what i need to get❤❤❤❤ thank you for the video comparison❤❤❤
You are welcome and thank you so much for sharing your experience and your findings!!!
I just got a helix, mega easy to use.... Little harder to dial in... But its a big change going to modelling from a Marshall stack
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion and experience! Yes, I do agree...a very "drastic" change!
Thank you
Between these two, the Boss has the great RV500 reverb sounds in it right? In that case, that is another plus. Because the reverbs on the Helix are not the best. I own a Stomp but I use an external reverb pedal with it. Also, fwiw, I prefer the ribbon mic with the stock cabs in the Helix.
Thank you for the comparisons, fair and unbiased👍
Thank you really appreciated! Yes, it should have the RV500, not 100% sure, but it is what I read when the RV was released. If someone has better info, please drop us a message!
@@LeoGibsonGtr It has MOST of the RV-500 features. No simultaneous reverbs or delay algorithms though. You get one reverb block and 4 simple delay blocks and one "master" delay. Only the master delay can have algorithms like tape/reverse/shimmer/etc.
Yes it has not only rv500 but also dd500 and md500 in it 🙂😎😉
Awesome review and guitar playing.
Thank you, when you like my playing...I'm happy!!! 😊
VERY NICE demo !!!!
Thank you, really appreciated!
Just gonna buy both
Hi, thank you for let us know! If you want, please share with us your opinion about how they sound!
Came for the demo, stayed for AMAZING playing. Thank you
Thank you so much!!! it is really important for me that you enjoyed the music!!!
Nice review Leo. thank you
You are more than welcome!!! Thank you!
Excelent review!
In my oppinion, GT 1000 wins all the way!
Cheers from Portugal 🍺🤘
Hi, thank you for sharing your opinion with us!
I'm liking the presence and tone of the BOSS. I also like that it's smaller. I think the only thing going for Helix for me is that I've been a loyal Line6 customer and I know I'll be able to come up with some tones pretty quickly and it will still be in good shape after a few years. I will say that support for the Firehawk FX is waning lately.
Hi, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for you Excellent comparison......
I have the Helix LT which is very good.....it’s strengths being its great screen and ease of use.....however the expression pedal is not really up to the job....and it’s so big and heavy(reasons why I don’t gig with it).
Boss are on the right track with their smaller footprint, good sounds and legendary build quality......but in this era of iPads and similar.......Boss’s screen is poor.
Hi Steve, thank you, really appreciated! I agree with you, the screen of the GT is really poor...
Yeah, the screen is poor for this kind of product, but speaking of Ipads, you can edit the GT-1000 with an Ipad/iphone (and also Android) via bluetooth and that you cant with and Helix. As usual there are advantages and disadvantages with pretty much any piece of gear, you just have to find the unit that suits you the best.
I haven't seen any other 32 bit/96kHz processor for $1000 or less so it appears to be the best bang for the buck? I had a GT1 for 3 years and thought it was awesome for the price point but now looking to upgrade and right now the GT 1000 seems to be "the one".
Good point...a 32 bit interface is a great option! Thank you for sharing!!!
@@LeoGibsonGtr there's a noticeable sound difference between 24 bit and 32 bit. the flagship Helix is also 32 bit and it sounds great but for $1699 it should :)
Stellar comparo, as usual ✌️👍🏻
Thank you, appreciated!
I've got the GT1000. Believe me tones are awesome, clean ,metal ,rock and I've actually found that the original irs are sometimes better than the purchased irs !!!! Either way it's brilliant, I use 2 separate rigs on every patch and of course the boss effects included are cool as ....
Hi John, thank you for sharing your experience and your findings!
Hey what's man, I have a question, where do you found the originals IRS ???
@@kilianruvalcaba6904 I've actually changed my mind , I'm now using an OwnHammer Ir (evh mk3) exclusively .....
Hello Leo, I do LOVE your GT-1000 plexi tone at 11:54 in your video.
I replicated your amp settings but my tone is very different. Would you please share speaker and DS1 settings ?
Thanks a lot !
Hi, in this tone the DS 1 is switched off. One special thing to notice is that I've recorded two tracks and then I've panned one hard right and one hard left. The speaker is "ORIGINAL", the Mic is "DYN57" with distance "SHORT" and position "5 cm". I've recorded the tracks using the XLR OUT of the GT into my Apollo interface. Hope this help, thank you for your question.
Nice review i bought the gt 1000 as as it was available in india but as most of my foot pedals are boss but I think I will buy the line 6 helix as it has more effects than boss
Hi, thank you, I'm happy that you like the video!!! Thank yo also for sharing your findings!!!
Which one is more fits for home direct recording ?Gt1000 or Helix or Kemper……
Hi, the Kemper cannot serve as an audio interface, so if you don't have one, you should exclude it. As regards the GT 1000 and Line 6 I would say that both are good options for recording at home...just get the one you like the most or the smallest one (GT 1000) if space is an issue.
Thank you for your message!
@@LeoGibsonGtr Thank you very much, because of the covid, we should do recording on our own...BTW,you mean use GT1000 instead of the normal interface like Focusrite is ok?
Yes, it is possible.
Thank you!
I also like Boss sound, It sound fat and clear. Regarding features - Artist has own trademark of tones, they don't switch sounds to another artist trademaks.
Hi Roger, thank you for sharing your opinion with us!
What a beautiful player this guy is
Thank you so much!!! I'm really happy that you like the playing!!!
I watch this to affirm if it sounded like my sy1000.
Yup still need a high cut but well all modeler need em tbh.
Hi, thank you for sharing it with us...pretty interesting!
I have both and appreciate both. But the Helix gets it in almost every category. I do enjoy the GT1000 and think he does have areas that are better. But as far as amp tones and overall the Helix is a tough one to beat
Thank you for sharing!
sei veramente molto, molto bravo sia a suonare che a dimostrare i prodotti per me sei il number one
Grazie Domenico, è veramente un bellissimo complimento, che mi fa molto piacere!!!
omg, your guitar playing style is unique. :)
Thank you, this is a great compliment! really appreciated!!
Go with the GT 1000 I have owned Most Line 6 stuff But a new era is coming and Roland is the way to go ,,,Get Your GT 1000 Now !
Hi, thank you for sharing your experience!
I thought I wanted a Helix until I heard the Boss, pulled trigger on the Boss. It just sounds better imo!
Hi Joe, thank you for sharing your findings and your final decision!
very nice review 🙏
Thank you, really appreciated!!!
Sir ,I found Helix sound better ,crux is which to buy within.one lakh rs ,if you would advice
Great sound. I'm new to gt 1000 can I have these distortion presets
Hi, I'm still not in the preset market...I will think about it...Thank you!
In our country most of guitarist brings their combo to gig,do you have any advice for build pedals or just buy a multi fx?
Hi, well it depends. Actually there are great modeling pedalboards and multi effect units that in a small format provide you with a lot of options. Another possibility is to build you own pedalboard. Here you can check out a video of my last pedalboard: ua-cam.com/video/NxYznsrzSdM/v-deo.html
This pedalboard actyally really sounds great in my opinion and it's pretty portable and light! Thank you for your message!
@@LeoGibsonGtr Thank you very much ,im look for an affordable setup for home and gig a long time, always struggle with amps, pedals, combo, multi fx...
Crunch and distortion seem far better with the boss... At least, I prefer the boss ;-)
Thank you for sharing your opinion!
Boss Gt1000 is more authentic sounding and also can be tweaked to sound darker. His tone was a bit on the ice pick/super bright side, but I'd EQ it to be a bit darker, but man the tone is sick!!! The helix is nice too, but it sounds far too processed. It's an awesome unit, but you have to REALLY tweak it to get it sounding "right". Great units for sure!
Thank you Jeremy for sharing your opinion with us!!!
Thanks for the comparison.
You are more than welcome! Thank you for your message!
Which one should i go for it from both of them ...pl let me know bro ... Nice video bro .
Hi thank you for the appreciation of the video! Sorry but I don't understand your question, can you please explain it once more? thank you for your message
@@LeoGibsonGtr i m thinking to buy boss gt 1000 or line 6 helix lt ...so which one should i go for ? I want to give direct sound to my pa system without any amp.
@@AshishGershom Hi, with both the units you can go direct in the PA without the need of an amp. For my use cases, I prefer the GT 1000, but this could be a biased opinion as I'm much more used to BOSS effects. I would suggest you to watch the comparison chart of the video, where I compare the technical differences of the two units, to verify if there is a key deciding feature for you. Another options is to download the Helix Native plug in from the line 6 web site, so you can check out the sounds by yourself (there is a trial version available). Thank you and I hope I could have been of help.
Both sound awesome, but that’s due to your playing which is top notch, so I’d imagine anyone will be happy with either the Boss or the line 6 they do sound different but who’s to say which is better ?
Thank you, really appreciated!
I tried to replicate your settings into my GT1000, but something went wrong. I'm not able to get the same sound. It will be really appreciated if you can export and share the setting, so we can easily import it into our GT1000. Are you using any IR? Your recording is made directly from GT1000 to PC? Thanks.
Hi Luca, if I remember it well, in this video I was not using IRs but just the internal cab. Which is the sound you are searching for? the clean tone with the fender or the distorted one with the Marshall? Thank you for your message!
@@LeoGibsonGtr Hi Leo, I'm a very frustrated GT 1000 user. I try and try to get a good crunch/distorted sound, but when it seems good in the headphone, it is ugly into the PA. I'd like to use GT1000 without any real cabinet, no FTFT cabinet, just an ear monitor. I'm looking for some preset usable for live performance. I have also tried some IR but they don't change so much the final result. Sometimes I found better the GT1000 simulation. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks! PS: I'm using a Fender Stratocaster...
@@lucamoreschi4593 It's either your headphone is not flat, or the PA is terrible. Mind that the output setting places a big influence to the sound
I much preferred the Boss, the Helix sounded like it needs a mic pre. But like you, I've grown up with Roland/Boss so maybe I'm biased. I wish the Boss had more loops & inputs.
Thank you for sharing your opinion with us!
Is It hard to compare when 2 different guitar’s pickup and different players?
Hi, I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. Could you please clarify?
Both of these unit update frequently, when will you compare them with latest firmware update?
Hi, I will think about it, thank you for letting me know!
Thank for your advise

The Helix sounded darker compared to the Boss gt 1000.
I felt the boss sounded more digital vs helix which sounded warmer
@@erikteh9625 you're right
@@gabe1141 . He's wrong.
I've used multi-effects pedals for over 30 years and I have an HX stomp and I can't get a lot of usable tones out of it.
