Twyford East and Sonning Cutting On 8th December 1988
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Twyford East (Ruscombe) and Sonning Cutting near Reading taken on 8th December 1988. HST's dominated most trains to the West and from the West. Newbury and Oxfords were mostly still in the hands of the popular class 50's (Hoovers) and cross country's were mainly 47 hauled. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material. - Авто та транспорт
Love this one. It reminds me of staying at my aunt's house in Waltham St Lawrence and going spotting at Chalkpit Bridge, inthe early 1980s. A flask of coffee, some sandwiches, and a Kodak Instamatic. Loads of numbers and tones. Happy memories 😊
Which bridge was that? I grew up in nearby Cox Green......
@@markcf83 My aunt called it The Chalks. Not really a road bridge. Hard to remember back 40 odd years....

So many memories in this one. I started my railway carreer at Twyford in 1987 and I regularly walked all of these lines from Twyford through to the Reading end of sonning cutting, I also came within about 4 seconds of losing my life to an HST at Twyford, a very nasty near miss caused by someone elses negligance, it was like that on the railway in those days!! My late father also commutted from Reading to Paddington back then too.

Excellent footage as per usual nice with no Meccano and spaghetti hanging up, plenty of Trams and Class 50's most enjoyable. I notice the DMU driver at 14.41 hiding in the corner expecting a brick or something to be thrown I'm guessing?
I couldn't have said it better ! 😅

Sobering thought , this video was filmed 4 days before the Clapham rail crash which in turn lead to in part the demise of the slam door stock
Yes that had not escaped me and my heart and thoughts still and will always go out to the 32 victims and all who were effected by the tragedy....You're most welcome Peter....Many thanks for your comment and for watching...best wishes...Mark
