    Hi, dear skincare friend, Penn! I hope you're doing great today! I couldn't agree more with your HG products of 2024 in Photozyme youth recovery and Photozyme Vit C. I use both (thanks to you) and feel they are the best of the best. I bought the Maysama face and neck LED's. I'm anxious to use them, but I haven't figured out when. I've considered when I first wake, but I don't know if all my skincare from the night before would be gone and not a hindrance. Any other time would be after cleansing. I haven’t done any videos on it but nutshell is I quit drinking alcohol (although I had a glass of wine on my husbands birthday ((which happens to also be my birthday)) and also on new years….) and I cut out sugar almost completely for quite a while. I eat a little sugar now but not a lot. I prioritize protein and fiber like it’s my job and I lift heavy weights. I use transdermal estradiol and I take micronized progesterone orally. I have topical testosterone too - I need to get better at using it.
      Of all the things….eliminating alcohol made the biggest impact. I sleep better, I eat better and I feel better to actually want to exercise.

    The retinol product you're talking about is labeled on the bottle and on the sales page: retinOL. Yes, retinol does eventually convert to retinaldehyde, but according to ther sales page, what's in the bottle is retinOL.

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE
      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  2 години тому

      No, according to their site it is a retinaldehyde at .1%
      When you look at the ingredients you will see that it has retinol and also retinal.
      They are playing on the term retinol like Kleenex.
      Here’s a quote from their site:
      Key Active: 0.1% retinal, the enzyme-calibrated form of retinol. (i.e., naturally-occuring retinaldehyde)

    Photozyme DNA Youth Recovery is definitely in my top three products and probably is my very favorite product as well. I did the same test in my brain and I thought yes if there was nothing else I could use. It would be that for sure. Also up there for me is any kind of retinaldehyde. Currently I'm kind of loving the Medik 8, but I also really like Naturium and for me retinaldahyde, actually beats tretinoin because my skin has days where it just does not like tretinoin (like today). I'm going to give a shout out to timeless because I still think their vitamin C is one of the best on the market and I also love their coenzyme serum as well as their Matrixyl serum. I hate to list this one because it's expensive and I will only buy it on sale, but I'm also really impressed with One Skin's body lotion and sunscreen. Even though the sunscreen is only SPF 30, it's my go to for the winter time. The finish is beautiful and I really feel like it is skin enhancing. As far as the body lotion, I've never used a body lotion as good as this one.

      The oneskin body lotion is my favorite thing from the brand. I am using photozyme body right now (and still Amlactin) but oneskin body is my other go-to favorite high end body treatment. I decided to be smart and choose just one (photozyme for now) instead of having both but I do admit I miss that oneskin!!
      I love the medik8 retinal too! I almost ordered it the other day but AGAIN I was like….you don’t need it right now! Trying to restrain myself lol

      I love love love the medik8 crystal retinal!! It’s one of the best retinal products on thd market. I love that they have different strengths that you can acclimate to. Just an awesome product. Let me know how it goes, and start slow….even on the low strength. Try every third night for 2 to 3 weeks then every other night for a while until you feel ok to go every night. It might take an entire bottle before that happens. But slow and steady wins the race!!

    Thank you! I would love a video on the difference between DNA enzymes, exosomes, growth factors, and OneSkin. Seems like getting rid of old cells like OneSkin serves the same goal as DNA repair but maybe not? I love my new to me Maysama mask-the lip coverage has made a world of difference. Yes- for a while I was doing fade bright then photozyme then LED but I decided that was too much and the alcohol in the fade bright wasn’t what I wanted before LED. It doesn’t bother me otherwise but I like it better after LED.
      So, it does like this in the AM when I add fade bright:
      Get up (coffee)
      Ziip if I’m going to
      Wash my face
      Photozyme youth recovery
      LED
      Mist or essence (and even a dedicated hydrating serum if I think I need it…usually thin)

    I have a question because I am really going back and forth about which device to invest in.
    I am going back and forth between the Pico toner, and the myolift mini
    The thing that has been swaying me towards the myolift, has been the relax and lengthen feature, but After some digging I found an older Jane Mann video, and it seems that the pico toner can do the same thing only and this is music to my ears, it dresses the fascia.
    I know you love all of them for different reasons, and I also know you love the zip, but after but I feel a pull to the two I just mentioned.
    Would you be willing to go into more detail about how the relax function works on the myolift mine, and how the fascia release works on the pico toner??? You could derfinitely to that topic justice and I would soooooooOOOOOOOoooo appreciate it

    Thank you, Im taking notes! What are your thoughts on prescription Azaleic Acid and Tret to treat hyperpigmentation and melasma? Is there an at-home device that will not exacerbate it? I am really wanting to invest but not at the risk of more discoloration (or fat loss).because i have 57yo Asian skin and really prone to increased hyperpigmentation. Also, do u know if the patent for SkinCeuticals VitC has expired?

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE
      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  13 годин тому +1

      I LOVE azelaic acid!! For me the script (20% for me) was a little drying. I actually like OTC azelaic acid as much if not better. Anfisa is excellent, Azid from Theramid is also really good.
      Tretinoin is fantastic for treating melasma BUT I would start with a very low dose personally. Inflammation can exacerbate melasma and tret is potent and can inadvertently cause some inflammation while we acclimate to the strong vitamin.
      Companies like agency and Musely can prescribe a low dose combined with a prescription pigment inhibitor to really knock out melasma/hyperpigmentation.
      Of course a derm can prescribe that too (triluma is name brand and honestly is probably the best of the best for faster results).
      At-home devices and melasma can be tricky. You are in a grey area (likely a Fitzpatrick 4) for LED. You could likely benefit from NIR light but the very tiny amount of heat may trigger your melasma. Heat is not your friend in general so stay away from RF. You could microneedle- I’d stick with cosmetic (shallow) and use pigment inhibitor for slip (arbutin based is great).
      Phew! Sorry for the book!

    Using a red light mask turned out to be the worst skincare decision I ever made. It bought sunspots to the surface that had never been there before. Now, I have to get expensive laser treatments to undo the damage.

      I’m so sorry to hear that- did you have melasma before and which LED did you use? I ask because I want to keep track of these reports to try and help others. Pigmentation is such a tricky, finicky skin issue. Red light has helped improve mine so much but I cannot overlook the people like you who have said this to me. Such a bummer, so sorry to hear!!

      @@PENNSMITHSKINCARE No, I’ve never had melasma. I have an Omnilux mask. I have closeup pictures of my face, before I started using the mask, in which I have no sun spots, so there is no doubt the red light mask caused them. Thank you, Pen for acknowledging and talking about this issue. No other skincare UA-camrs will touch this topic.

    you said the photozyme vitamin C is NOT a water based product, but the first ingredient is WATER. please explain.

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE
      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  13 годин тому

      Sorry, I should clarify. It has oil in it, it is not oil free, solely water based.
      When I think of water based I think of something that is not lipid soluble, that is oil free.
      I probably should have explained that differently.
      I’m comparing it in my mind to l-ascorbic acid serums that are water based (like skinceuticals, timeless, Dr brenner etc).
      Does that make sense?

      This was all things I found or started using in 2024 EXCEPT the last product, which I explained 🙂🙂🙂

    Am I delusional to notice using copper peptide makes my hyperpigmentation worse? Copper is a co-factor of tyrosinase. I have ethnic/ tan skin.

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE
      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  5 годин тому

      You are not delusional … it’s not common but it happens. Ugh I’m sorry that’s your experience!! I’ve only heard this a few times but I have heard other people say this.
      The good news is there are lots of peptides on the market these days- yes, I love copper peptides, but I love so many others that do great things. I’d skip them and look at other peptide complexes instead ♥️♥️

    ok wait u just casually threw in that you use “ P50” then DNA followed by red light. I had no clue we could use a product like P50 before red light. Is that so the DNA absorbs deeper? So much to learn from Penn Skin School.
    Hugs

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE
      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  4 години тому

      Ok so to clarify. I use p50 and then I wait a bit, I let it do its thing (marinate as I call it) then the youth recovery - then I wait maybe 30 seconds then LED.
      I definitely don’t do the P50 right before DNA repair OR right before LED. Does that make sense? 🤩♥️

    Great video Penny! LOVE learning about all of this! My best find of 2024 was a recommendation from you and it is so basic but sooo effective....it is the Soothe and Recovery moisturizer from Drmtlgy! It has replaced any other moisturizer for me and it seems like such a simple product but it works so well even after retinal and under makeup. I don't know how it can be so multi use but my mature/dryish skin LOVES it! Thank you for introducing me to it!

    just got the DNA repair serum from your eye mask video, so excited to work with it!
    It would be fantastic to get a video on your Retin Rotation (hope I'm saying that correctly). I have been using tretinoin on a high dose, 5 nights a week, for awhile, and just started to wonder if this is great?! Then I heard you today, so I'm really wondering now 🫣

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE
      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  4 години тому

      Oh you’re great if your skin is handling it well? Do you feel dry? Red? Irritated? If not then you are doing amazingly well with tret that often.
      The goal is vitamin a nightly. I recommend that happen however it can … even if some nights have to be a gentle retinol. But if you can tolerate tret often, that’s fantastic!
