- A Hike from Todmorden, over the hills, and down into Wardle to Watergrove Reservoir. Formerly a village of houses and Mills. the 1930s saw the reservoir replace the village.
Next to the water is Old Tom's Wood, which houses a number of the ruined farmhouses that once stood here.
But.....who was Old Tom?
Just watched your video. That is my neck of the woods walked round they a few times.
Cool. Thanks 😊. It's a beautiful spot there
Hi Matt and Tom, the first ruin to came to under the tree was the old Moorcock Inn ( I'm saying nothing🤦) apparently it was a busy little area round there in the past, several mines nearby so busy with coal miners and drovers etc.

Ah, fantastic....I'd heard there was a pub uo there so I hadn't realised that was it. Thank you....now....these mines.....all now sealed and lost to time I guess? Thanks for watching
@@matparks08 I havnt investigated the mines but they are just on top of the hill near Coolem cottages, there are some large engine bed stones and associated remains of structures, Clive from Rossendale collierys will know more.
Did you come over to the res from where you filmed The Famous Whitworth Doctors? There is a good route just up from The Red Lion in that video.
Hiya, no, we came to it from Todmorden. Over the hill and dropped down to Wardle. Thanks for watching 😊
@@matparks08 Holy moly that is a VERY long walk!
