I REALLY appreciate you calling out Z-pack for their bullshit . More people need to , if your gonna spend that damn much on their gear it should come with what the rest come with .
I disagree. Z-packs is an ultralight company. Many of their customers don’t want all the bells and whistles and therefore don’t want to pay for them. Personally, I want hip-belt pockets, shoulder-strap storage, etc., and I’m willing to pay for it in terms of both cash and weight. But that’s not for everyone, so why not let us choose à la carte? Sure, they could include all that and jack the price up $99, but then some people would whine about paying for stuff they don’t want. In the end, the price is worth it to you or it’s not. If it’s not, move on - a dozen other pack manufacturers will gladly take your money.
@@HighCentered I agree with what you said , I checked them out and realized I liked other brands that had better value , but see z-packs, charge more for their stripped down packs than others do for the full package . I'm all for being able to pick out exactly what you want for your pack , I just don't agree with their insane prices.
I think it'd be great if Zpacks gave a bundle discount if you ordered 2 or more accessories. Like 20% off the hipbelts if you ordered two, or if you ordered a hipbelt and a shoulder pocket.
Anker is the best. I have the older version of the C1000 as my main power source in my van where I live full-time, but will be getting the Nitecore carbon fiber battery now that I am switching over to USB-C only. It is much lighter and smaller and only has USB-C which is awesome
I think I’ve watched this video randomly on different days probably over 10x. New to backpacking and starting to purchase my gear. Thanks for this informative and highly entertaining video!!
Thank you for including car campers in the world of outdoorsy adventurers. By the way, you have lovely manicured fingernails. I'm jealous. :) I always learn something very helpful when I watch your videos.
I really appreciate and enjoy your videos and honesty especially saying we don't need to buy the hyperlite waterproof bags. And I normally dont comment but saw a video (backcountry exposure) reviewing the Kilos Gear sleeping pad and thought Id see if you have any experience with that pad? It would be a budget pad. The UL is only around $100.

Dan. I feel your pain! Left my Ozard Trail spoon in Linville Gorge. Thought I could just go to Wallymart for a replacement. That was 2 1/2 years ago and they STILL haven't brought them back. I even did a video on my channel asking people to pressure them to start selling again. Since I hate those titanium mini-shovels, I made my own starting with an Etsy CNC file. It's beautiful, ultralight and I can actually eat soup with it. Do you like the Nemo chair more than REI Flexlite and Helinox Chair Zero? Nemo is a lot heavier. Just got a Nitecore NU25. Love it because it has a brighter red light than the Black Diamond. Glad you are still making gear videos, etc. Cheers.
When you give the price for the Garmin in reach did it include the subscription charges if there are any? Also do you know how and from where your sponsor sources the lithium for their batteries from?
RE: water bottles. A study was done and it was shown that the majority of the microplastics that got in the bottle are from the unscrewing/screwing on of the cap. The study indicated it's better to use a sports cap in place of the original cap.
Whats your thoughts on the Zpacks Back Panel in Lycra that they have changed to from the more solid and supportive older type Dan ? I absolutely love my zPacks, i have the 70 and 60 but i find that the newer lycra back panel offers zero resistance apart from the outer edges that frame the Lycra panel. I am totally baffled why they would change something that worked so fantastically well to something that simply doesnt work at all.🤔I have to keep swopping my old panel about between packs now because they have stopped doing that older type.
You are 6’2” with the same build that I have. I bought the XL tall Ventus this morning. Should I have gotten regular length. What size Ventus do you wear? Thanks
Partial answer: 6’2” 220. The tall was perfect, the XL is fitted. Ordered the 2XL tall to compare. Not sure if I want it loose or fitted just yet but it seems warm regardless
