    ▶ The ACEBEAM Pokelit AA High CRI Flashlight at Amazon: amzn.to/44rCD7U
    ▶ Todd's Shop: www.amazon.com/shop/todderbert
    Features I like about the Nichia Tool:
    Runs on All Types of AA Batteries.
    Simple to Use Controls.
    Protected Tail Switch.
    Optional Magnetic Base.
    Smooth Beam Pattern with Wonderful Color Rendition.
    One and a Half Lumen Low Mode for One Hundred and Fifty Hours(NiMH).
    IP68 Waterproof.
    Hidden Strobe Mode.
    Illuminated Tail Switch when using a 14500 Battery.
    Tail Stands.
    Eighteen Lumen Low Mode for Fourteen and a Half Hours(NiMH).
    Mode Memory.
    Lightweight.
    Compact Size.
    Decent Price.
    It's a Lumintop.
    Features that Could be Added or Improved On:
    Ability to Turn of the Illuminated Tail Switch LED.
    Momentary Tail Operation from the Off Position.
    Overall, I recommend this as a Great EDC AA Backup Flashlight. The Nichia version looks Incredible, and is worth the few extra bucks. The ACEBEAM is a good value option, because it comes with a Rechargeable 14500 Battery, and Costs Less. For Carry, I will be using the Lumintop Tool over my newly acquired ACEBEAM :)

    I've been using this Nichia version as my EDC for 6 months now and it has been great. Recently I got myself a cool white version (to give as a gift). I tested the CW side by side with the Nichia, both using Eneloops, and was surprised that the CW version was floodier and the Nichia has a noticably tighter hot spot. For a light this size and modest lumens, I appreciate the extra throw in the Nichia version.

    I just got this flashlight delivered today, Friday August 11th 2023 from Amazon. I also paid $21.99 as well and it's worth every penny.

    Nice review - thanks! I have this and the Pokelit AA. I agree with your assessment. The Pokelit works and feels great with the nice Nichia beam and is a great value coming with the 14500 battery for about the same price as the Tool AA. I do like the tail standing ability of the Tool as well as the included diffuser. I end up using both lights quite often.

    Value for money! Great for edc. I use the magnetic tail end as it makes the total length shorter.

    I love the Tool AA. I liked it so much when I got my first one in hand, I immediately ordered a second one.
    The only gripe I really have is the lanyard will break down at the skinny portion. It is literally fish line underneath the fabric jacket. It will work just fine and last about 4.5 years before it breaks, but it will break. Just wanted to put that out there.

    I just got this one last month and now prefer it over the CW version for daily carry. This is my first High CRI light. I have to say this Nichia version make everything look nice and visible with more dimension and clarity, then a Low CRI CW version with higher lumens, which by comparison looks a bit hazy. My thoughts are that the Nichia w/high CRI compensate well for the lower lumen output, yet still looks nice and bright.

      I just got mine, and love it! I’ve been using cool white flashlights for years now, and this is my first neutral white light. It’s so much easier on the eyes, and the colors are more natural. It’s now my favorite light.

      @@MasterKoala777 , I agree, especially for reading. Before I got my Kindle Paperwhite w/cool - warm light scaling, I would strain my eyes reading my old Kindle Touch with a CW flashlight. At the time I had no idea about other tints and CRI options. I definitely favor neutral/warm lights indoors, but that's not a strict rule. Some CW lights like from Olight are generally slightly warmer (in my experience) than 6500K even if that's what they list the CCT (Color Correlating Temperature) as, which I appreciate. So a quality CW is nice for any task especially outdoors. I don't mind carrying one of my Olights in CW when I go out such as my i3T Plus, i5T, or S1 Baton Mini. All of those have shown to be a little warmer then my Tool AA 2.0 in cw, Jetbeam Jet -1 MK, and Fenix E12 v2...

      @@omicron9012 I have been using an Olight S2A Baton for almost 7 years now. Plus a couple of i3e. You're right, they are a bit warmer than other, almost bluish tint, lights. But the Tool AA Nichia is still noticeably more pleasant. The S2A now flickers on high/turbo modes, and sometimes even on medium. That's why I bought the Tool AA.

    Good review. I would have ordered this one except for the parasitic drain with the 14500. I’m glad you mentioned that…

    You can disable the blue leds but its irreversible. I also have the nichia version. For my taste its a bit to warm. Looks like 4000k. I prefere 5000k but its rare. Most lights are ccol white or at 4000k in a warmer version. Actually the acebeam is ratetd with 5000k but I dont like the lumen setting.

    I picked the silverfox. Now im thinking if this was a better option. Whats your opinion about this compared to silverfox?

    • @todderbert
      @todderbert  9 місяців тому

      The Nichia LED has nice color rendition, and the tail switch is handy. Depends on how you want to carry your AA light. The fox is good tethered, and has a mag base already, though the Tool has a mag base kit as well. The build of the fox seems a bit stronger, might last longer over time.

    • @MasterKoala777
      @MasterKoala777 7 місяців тому

      I just got both the Silver Fox and the Tool AA Nichia version. My favorite is the Tool AA for both the beam pattern and color rendition. The Silver Fox is nice as a work light and emergency lamp because it is super floody. It’s also useful for walking around outdoors where you might encounter snakes or other threats. It illuminates a huge area, in exchange for having very little throw.

    • @Djinsoul

      @@MasterKoala777 yep, the flood on silverfox is insane. I think I'll buy the AA then once it's on discount.

    My only concern is that blue led in the tail switch that will drain the battery in time.

      @todderbert  5 місяців тому +3

      Lumintop mentions a month run time. Good thing you can just run standard NiMH batteries and not worry about the blue tail switch turning on.

      not the copper one. I only have a brass Olight i3T. Olight loves to use alternative metals, such as Carbon Fiber, Titanium, Copper, Damascus Steel, ect.
