Your videos are very helpful. The way you speak and even critique yourself sometimes makes your videos very authentic!

when do you think the earliest i can ask for these types of internships are? i’m only 14 and haven’t even started freshman year yet, but i think i’m interested in medicine and would love to gain some experience at a local doctors office or hospital. i’m sure i’m too young now but when should i be actively looking?

Great video, Kristen! When can I schedule a private Zoom call with you to strategize extracurriculars? I have a kind of not typical passion, so it has been hard to brainstorm.

Do you think your email profile picture sway their decision? Which is the best way to represent me: a picture of myself, a default picture, or even this picture of Dr. Doofenshmirtz?

A profile picture of a TV character may make you come across as unprofessional. I'd recommend a semi-professional headshot or no profile picture.

Are 4-5 extra-curriculars enough if my top activity is really major? How big would my one main activity have to be so that they understand why I wouldn't have enough time for lots of other extra-curriculars?

It depends. I recommend focusing on the *quality* of your extracurriculars rather than the quantity. You can find the College Lead 'Rate your extracurriculars' worksheet below: www.mycollegelead.com/downloads-1

Hi great video! i have a quick question so i live in the washington dc area and am interested on doing stem research. i am planning on cold emailing some professors from georgetown and gwu. hypothetically if i was accepted, would me interning w a professor from a competitive university hurt my chance at overall college admissions to selective schools? for instance if i did get a georgetown internship would a school like cornell see it as i am more interested in georgetown and not cornell? i may be jumping the gun a little here but i would appreciate any advice u may have thanks!
