    The good thing about Mexico is when you travel, you always come across someone who is very knowledgeable. The thing is he is learning from you as much as you are learning from him.

    as a geologist, around 17:47 you can see some great opalescent layers. Mines in Australia have produced some very valuable gemstones from stratigraphic layers such as these. If they have depth to the opalensent mineralization, opal gemstones could be produced from them.

    4:36 "Te estoy pirateando" means that she's "pirating" or "faking" your products, which means they are not original.
    Usamos mucho el verbo "piratear" para referirnos a cuando alguien le roba una idea y/o producto a otra, la señora vende ropa Tommy pirata, por ende le "pirateó" el producto a Tommy.
    De hecho, hace unos 15 años hubo una serie de comerciales anti-piratería los cuales pasaban en el cine, recuerdo mucho uno donde los niños decían "tenemos un papá pirata ;(" xD

    • @SabbaticalTommy
      @SabbaticalTommy  3 роки тому +31

      It can be frustrating but don't give up! I used a few free resources I found online, and then took a series of classes with a teacher. I'm still learning actually.
      Here's a full course with audio examples:
      tlahtolli.coerll.utexas.edu/
      And here's a grammar guide:
      www.vcn.bc.ca/prisons/grahuas.pdf
      Both are for the Nahuatl of la Huasteca, the region in this video and the variant that I learned. Mah cualli ohtli

    Really nice. You have an entertaining way on how you create these videos. Always explain a little bit, give some local impressions and just some raw honest footage without any big edittings.
    Also you are a very chillded guy.
    Your Channel will catch a lot more attention, but every start is rough.
    So keep grinding :) (I know you don't really care 2much anyway)
    Oh and one question, how did you actually learn spanish so well? By just travelling or at school, by some app...........?

    I've just come across your videos and I enjoy them. Can I ask how you learned to speak Spanish, for latin america? I always wanted to be fluent but I am like a novice-intermediate, where I can ask for basic things or know words and point to help with comprehension. I don't have a hispanic community to practice with.

    It seems like the state isn't really present in that area and the people basically self-manage it. It's an obvious demonstration of how unnecessary the state is, unless it's stealing from those communities to benefit rich people and creating problems that they have to deal with.
