- watch me fight a tigrex and also cry
for some reason... basically every time i've fought Tigrex with a SNS, I cart at least once. I dunno if it's cause I'm not very good, or because it's just not a great weapon against Tigrex. You have to take so many risks to keep your damage up, or the fight will take forever. Funnily enough, the slower, harder hitting weapons seem to do better against monsters that are fast, but have exploitable animations.
This fight, with an SNS, to me, is extremely hard. I wouldn't really recommend it, but if you do, I highly recommend bringing tranq bombs. The way SNS works, you'll probably see Tigrex limp away, and when he's gone to his cave to sleep, that is an extremely dangerous place to fight him, it's such a small area. If you can just finish the fight there with the portable shock trap and tranq bombs, that's ideal.
If you're able to, emulation is a great way to play, I highly recommend you use PPSSPP: www.ppsspp.org/

lmao, yeah if you paintball a monster while they're doing their intro roar, it'll immediately stop it. It's kinda dumb.
And at 4:18... haha...... yeah......... the hitbox was still active on his hand. Definitely a problem that should've been fixed by capcom IMO, but eh, just gotta keep it in mind lmao. Definitely made me do one of these: 🙄🙄
This is a blast from the past:). My strategy for every monster was the same, chop their feet and hope I do enough damage before the time runs out xD

@@BLITZMERG13 welp, it wasn't really that good either. He could had just outspeeded the tigrex and do continuos damage on the L E G S. Also, if it wasn't a raw SnS, also would have been a much lighter fight (Upper Battleaxe is the best for this fight).
use to play sns badly too i never thought of using shield to block at all since its kinda slow
@@fredleoplayer exactly my point. I didn't have the timing to move in and out so I can do constant damage with minimal damage on my end.

Would it be possible to defeat the tigrex when you first meet him in that village quest?
As in, could you defeat him with either default equipment or very early game equipment?
If you do, do you obtain something from him beyond just the 3-4 "carves" you get?
What about you capturing him with tranq bombs and a trap you either crafted on your own or bought?

Longer answer; I'm pretty sure you can't get *everything* you'd need to craft stuff, but you do get some materials. You get the carves and whatever break rewards in the quest finish box, but you don't get anything beyond that. Capturing him just replaces your carves with items in the reward box (different chances for different items), so, that's not really anything extra.
I've never tried farming it, but at that point it's just for bragging rights, you're much better off just waiting until you officially face him either way, it's not worth it even if you could get Tigrex gear early.
@@HeadHunter455 yeah it is needlessly hard to farm tigrex at 1 star level, so it's really only to brag about it.
Would you think this is doable with SnS? When I fix my computer I might just download an emulator and try it.
Yeah I'd imagine it's possible. Whether or not it's practical without speedrunner levels of execution, I'm not sure.
With the SnS, is it hard to cut off monster tails in this game?
Generally speaking, yes. You can technically do it on basically every monster, since you can probably topple every monster that has a cuttable tail, but you really should be changing to something like GS or LS if you want to hit something above you with cutting damage.
You need to switch weapons to have a reasonable time in this game anyways.

You can buy both Power and Armor charms from the guild hall after clearing the 4* urgent quest "Absolute Power," fighting, uh... Tigrex... uhh... lol

You can combine them with a lao shan claw after fighting Lao-Shan Lung in 6* to make Power and Armor Talons, and then buy one more power and armor charm and have both effects.

I give you challenge defeat narcaguga with long sword and you can take with you max potion, suplies items, 10 mega potion (only), shock trap (only 2), well done stake (2 only), paintball (unlimited), armor seed (5 only). Finally, you're armor set this the hermitaur or shogun ceanautors this is your choice (and your choice what a long sword you will take with himself). You need defeat narcaguga in 50 minutes. For me, sns is the best tho. But yeah, practice more because your missing some damage opportunities or something. But yeah, you did well tho. 15 minutes (based on the clock) is fast as hell, but it would be faster if you used elemental sns. But yeah, as an sns main, am proud of you :))
I'm not in any rush to practice using SNS against Tigrex in this game.
Velocidrome Bite+ is the best SNS you can get at this point in the game. Period. I didn't just pick it without thinking about what I was using.
Consider where I am in the game, the whole point of this video is showing the fight using gear that you can get as the first time you hunt it, I also take into consideration what monsters I've hunted for the guide series, and I focus on the key quests first.
I leave a lot of strategy and item usage up to anyone watching, as this is not an example of skill or a speedrun, just an example of how to fight the low rank Tigrex in "Absolute Power" without doing anything specific, just focusing on 1v1 combat. Feel free to make a speedrun video yourself if you really want to. I expect and recommend anyone watching to think more about what they're doing and bring stuff like traps and bombs if they want, and use this video as more of a fallback plan when they run out or if those things don't go very well.
should've used weapons with elemental damage, it would make this hunt so much easier and quicker. paralysis for stun, poison for passive constant damage, or sleep for bombing opportunities
edit : i recommended elemental damage/debuff because of sns has a fairly high attack speed, and most of the sns weapons have high elemental attributes as well, so sns without elemental is like eating a soup without salt..it's a huge yet missed opportunity
