  • NVIDIA Picasso is a cloud service for building generative AI-powered visual applications. Enterprises, software creators, and service providers can run inference on their models, train NVIDIA Edify foundation models on proprietary data, or start from pretrained models to generate image, video, and 3D content from text prompts. Picasso service is fully optimized for GPUs and streamlines training, optimization, and inference on NVIDIA DGX Cloud.

      well... ChatGPT can do the reading... Text to Video AI is picking up now and if we base ourselves on the rate of progress of other AI technologies, these text to video tools should have quality as good as Midjourney 5 within like idk... 3-4 months. Then it's just a matter of paying to get access to that AI but to generate whole hour and a half movies instead of 10 seconds clips. Maybe another 3 months of progress for that. My guess is that we will have what you said before the end of the year. Which is insane

It's not the practical skill that is valuable, what you needed to know 20 years ago is not what you need to know now. What is important is having an eye for detail, a working vocabulary of style, the ability to imagine something vividly before it exists. I'm sure there are people using AI to make art that had no prior interest, but I suspect most of the people using this tech have done it the hard way.

    Did you miss anything in your video? Preparing a3d model in Blender is time consuming because precision or better still, accuracy is a good selling point. The trouble with text to 3d, is that, as is expressed in an old aphorism: "a picture is worth a thousand words". You would have to write a thousand words in your Picasso, in order to accurately describe exactly what you want to see, in your 3d sculpture. This is especially true if you are an engineer or an architect. This is the whole reason why design has become so valuable to humans. Design can express more deliberately and concisely, exactly what we are aiming for than, words! Try describing an alien planet landscape to someone, over the phone. I think the whole thing is a fallacy committed by a bunch of poorly educated young puppies. Oh, I am sure that it will bring some fruit but, why are you making it out to be a world changing panacea?

    • @AlexanderLipaev
      @AlexanderLipaev Рік тому +4

      Being a 3D artist myself, while contemplating the amount of time I spent learning skills that soon will be absolete, I disagree with your point. I think it all comes down to the fact that this whole process will be iterative, meaning you will probably start with basic shapes of your model, just like when you model by hand. Only after guiding AI and getting the right overall form you will get to finer details, hence allowing you to get exactly what you want. Add to that tools like Inpaint, and you're all set. Another thing that is an issue right now is topology, but given the insane rate of progress we see now, I don't think that is for long. Of course, we are not there yet, but give it another 2-3 years and I'm sure the shifts this will cause will be unbelieveable.

    • @PedroRodrigues-fh1ku
      @PedroRodrigues-fh1ku Рік тому +16

      @@AlexanderLipaev is it really "exactly what you wanted"? the AI generated results can't read your mind, you just pick what is close enough to what you imagined, sometimes you even lie to yourself just to acomodate the generated results, and you would think that you are directing the AI but in reality the AI is directing you, and this direction is based on the AI programmers bias of what is good art/3d/photos because they were the ones who first trained the AI tool. In reality we are running towards a future where everything will be generic, derivative, low quality and less creative because AI tools are cheaper and can produce more and faster so companies will prefer using this to feed the hyperconsumerism world, we can already see that happening in entertainment industry and social media algorithms even without AI. Now imagine a time where everything will be decided by big companies biased algorithms using AI, the death of creativity, human skills and singularity/uniqueness. People will depend so much on chatbots that they will forget how to do proper research, fake news and deepfakes are already a problem that will only escalate. The meager attempts to avoid this and regulates thoses companies are being scorned of as anti tech advancement and ludites, people are so mesmerized by the sic-fi aspect of it that they are neglecting the negative consequences of those techs, trusting big companies and bilionaires (whose sole interest are money and power) to self regulate. Midjourney as an example, was created as a byproduct of the searching for an AI powerful enough to solve the world's problems and bring on a utopia, they did that by steping on artists, stealing their work. Now can you tell me which utopia will beneffit the bilionaires financing those projects? Do we really need biased AIs trying to create utopia? I think we should tread carefully, support people who are asking for regulation, and also ask for ethical and careful release of those tools, what we are seeing nowadays is a suicidal run without any concern for harm.

A computer cannot understand this idea of purpose because it presupposes motivation and consciousness, neither of which a machine possesses. Real artists pursue some purpose, such as awareness, another feature missing in the machine's arsenal.

      @@catallaxy exactly, I can`t understand how people do not see this and keeps comparing artists being inspired by other artists and AI using data to generate derivatives. They are not the same. Until there`s a trully concious machine, Ai can not be CREATIVE, creativity demands conciousness, it`s the human element that no algorithm can replace. Those AI are just good enough to mimic it, and people are not asking WHY do we need that, and for the real purpose they were actually invented (hint: it was not for the benefit of artists or general users). This tool just seems to try to solve something that was not a problem in the first place, and creates a bunch of other problems and harm with its use. No one asked for a "generate art" button

      It's true, especially since photorealism isn't actually a more difficult level to achieve. The result is sometimes undistinguishable from a real picture.
      I think we're entering an era where the source of the evidence will have much more weight. It doesn't matter that you have an audio recording of someone saying something if anyone can clone this person's voice and generate the audio file. So now, courts will have to check where the file comes from. That said, i'm pretty sure they already have to do this.
