YOU SAVED ME!!! thank you so much for uploading this video. i had filmed on hi8 tapes for one of my clients and desperately needed a way to convert the content into digital.
thank you

thank you
You are verY welcome - I am glad you are able to use this.
Awesome video! I just ordered mine. Can't wait! :)
Glad to hear. Good luck transferring videos :)
Thanks for the unboxing video! It really helped since I ordered the exactly same one.
You are very welcome. I hope it works out well for you.
@@PE4Doers Thanks!

Great video! Thank you for posting this tutorial. OBS is POG.. love that software
You are very welcome. Will you be getting one of these? I've already used mine to transfer nearly two hours of previously lost home videos to my media archive.
@@PE4Doers yes, purchased one to put my father's VHS tapes on a hard drive.

Muchas gracias por tu ayuda muy interesante e inteligente vídeo es muy claro y es explicativo,te felicito por tener como nuevos tus equipos pues tienen muchos años....de fabricados💕💕💕
Thank you so much for the very nice comment ❤
Interesting device. A quick search on Amazon has reports that this device will work on Linux ,at least Ubuntu 18.04 or newer.
I might pick one of these up to do a review on from the Linux and macOS user perspective.
Jeremy, that sounds great. If we were closer I would lend you mine. Would you like te Email of the persons I dealt with? Send me an Email and I will forward it to you. They may provide you a sample as well.
Hey David! Hope you are doing well. Here to show some support for my friend.
Thank you Da Leigh. I see you have a new one up today, so I will return the favor :)
I'm gonna use this for signalwave thanks.
WOW, that is a very specialized field. good luck :)
The S-Video capture seems to have better color saturation than composite. My biggest concern is the audio. I put on headphones for this one, and during the un-muted parts of your capture, the sound seemed to be centered in the middle, with no L-R separation. I am guessing that the audio for this device is being recognized by your computer as a "microphone", and therefore mono, despite the separate left and right audio inputs.
Thanks, I did not consider that. Did you get a chance to look at the video I just released covering their latest version of the product?
I will re-listen to both with a set of headphones.
Thanks for the video... I wonder if you have any advice: I recently purchased this device and have used similar in the past with success. However, I just cannot get an image/audio to show from the VCR/camcorder/TV Combo...I have tried connecting the UCEC converter to all three devices separately but there seems to be no output. All three devices are functional. I thought it might be an issue with the SCART lead but this doesn't seem to be the case. Any idea where I might be going wrong? Thanks
When you say SCART, can you let me know what you mean? Also, have you tried the S-Video ? You may need a cable for that however.
I just got this and hooked it up to an old, but good condition VCR and recorded it into VCL Player, but it does not have good resolution. Now, I have a 2008 Sony VCR to DVD that has an HDMI 1080p output, but the issue is that I cannot take the display & tracking menus off and so they occasionally are displayed in the recording...
Sorry to hear that. The resolution has been an issue for a number of folks. Did you try with the S-Video connection?
Great Video!!! Thx, I've just got one, but my laptop doesn't have CD/DVD drive. Where can I download the software online? does anyone knows?
I did not load the software since the device worked plug-n-play. If you want to use the editor software, then I doubt they will soon provide a way to download it, since it is license-key protected. You could send them a message to see if they have other options.
hello sir and thank you! I just got mine but I am on Mac and there is no DVD processor on new Mac, and I can't find any software that I can download for this, do you by any chance have a link to that? I can't find any infos on the net for the software! :(
I am not aware of any for specifically for the Mac. One thing - I did not load any software, since it worked right out of the box on my Windows system.
Thank you for the video. Is very helpful. The device is work ok. But the problem is that the tape is color but the capture, at some point, coming up in black and white. Is there any way that I can fix that
Are you using the RCA Connectors (Yellow, Red, White), or the S-Video connector? S-Video has much brighter colors since it uses the 'Composit Output'
@@PE4Doers Yellow, Red, White
@@educationcentrevictoria4002 Do you have the cable and connectors that will allow the S-Video to be used? That would tell you for sure if the device is bad.
Hey, I am having trouble. My black and yellow cable between my Sony Hi8 cam and this UCEC av red and yellow seem to be good. However the program is only recording visual from Cam. My computers mic is the only one that this program wants. Have tried changing it in programs settings but only wants my comps mic. Does this happen often? Thanks
What program are you using to capture the video?
Thanks for the tutorial. I'm having an issue with the video where the color going in an out, also at the beginning of the video it blinks nonstop
So sorry to hear that. Are you able to try it with more than one camera or VCR? I have already heard twice that some people have received bad UCEC units and they were able to get them replaced.
Have also had a problem with the picture. I sometimes get a black & white image with green & magenta lines appearing. Strangely, it doesn't happen on every tape so had assumed that it could have been the tape as they are between 20 & 30 years old but have managed to play them on my TV without any issues at all. Will try & contact the manufacturer .
@@benrec6 Are you suing the RCA (Yellow Red, White) connectors?
@@PE4Doers hi, have been using them cables yes
Hi, I bought this device for converting my Sony camcorder digital 8 tapes to my computer but I am not getting anything after connecting this device as per your video and it's booklet. Please advise if this is for only VHS tapes or works with digital 8 tapes also? Thanks.
Which cabling are you using to connect? Also, unfortunately, I have heard of at least two cases where folks received a defective product.
@@PE4Doers thanks for your prompt reply. Camera av outlet is pin type with RCA at other end. But my question is, can I convert digital8 tapes also with this device or this is for VHS tapes only?
@@AdnanKhan-ky3jp The only limiting factor is which output connects are provided by the play. The signals are analog, so there generally is not a conversion issue. The only problem is the resolution and fidelity of the signals themselves.
Can this cable also record videos off of your computer onto a blank vcr tape ?
That might be a challenge unless your VCR accepts USB input. I would strongly suggest that you create a digital copy on your PC, then use software to create a DVD from that recording.
i got this same model but it connects but i hear the audio and screen is all black im using a hi8 canera a CCD-TRV128 model do you know what im doing wrong
Sorry, I did not test all the different cameras on it. I do know if the resolution of the input device is too high, there will likely be video problems.
How do I save the video files to the cloud? Will all programs run the files in the future?
I do not believe this tool has a linkage to the cloud, however if you have a cloud service you can move them from your PC to your cloud using Windows.
HELP! I purchased the UCEC video converter to convert my VHS home videos to digital. When I play the VHS cassettes on my VCR the colour is fine, but when I play/record in OBS studio the video goes from colour to black and white and I get those horizontal rainbow lines. Any suggestions on how to fix it?
Sabrina, are you using the RCA connectors or the S-Video. There is a 'huge' difference in quality between the two. Color tends to severely suffer due to the increase frequencies being passed through the cable.
@@PE4Doers Thank you for your quick response!! I am using the RCCA connectors, I see that the UCEC does have one end with the S-Video connector but my VCR does only has RCA and UHF connectors. What would be my best option in this case?
@@Binarowco Yea, that tends to cause signal loss, especially in the colors :( I have a 'really old' VHS player that appears to only be B&W when I do the transfer.
Hello. I need some help again. I have not transferred some old VHS tapes using this converter for awhile. As I went to edit one of the recordings in iMovie, all of a sudden about half way through, there is no sound recorded. I have tried recording a couple of other VHS tapes and none of them have any sound on the recording, which I am finding very odd. I am wondering if I don't have my settings correct on the UCEC USB video converter. I have the source as Audio Input Capture, the Device is set to AV to USB2.0 and the Mic/Aux Audio to Av to USB2.0. The Video Capture device is set to AV to USB2.0. The Audio Output says device not connected or not available. Could you please send me instructions on what all the settings should be to capture the sound on the recording. Thank you!
What program did you use on your PC to capture the video? I found in OBS I had to enable the sound specifically within the 'Properties' to get sound transferred.
@@PE4Doers Firstly I have a Mac. When I checked the Properties for the Audio Input Capture, the Mic/Aux Audio to AV and the Video Capture device, they all say AV to USB2.0. Does the Audio Output not have to be connected? I just can't figure out why I have no sound this time. I did not change any of the settings since I last used it.
@@tinaash712 Unfortunately I am not that familiar with audio on the Mac. Did it work on your previous computer?
I bought the same unit in March 2021 and it worked really well for the project that it was acquried. I have since moved the same (isolated) computer into a more convenient spot in the house to do some more VHS conversions but when i fired up the computer the various supplied software programs didn't function. One, which I suspect is holding up the traffic, is looking for the product code which apparently was on the sleeve of the CD rom that was supplied with the unit. Of course that has been tossed some months ago. The software and product registration had been completed when I bought the unit. I have been trying now going into my second week to contact UCEC support department. Leaving messages doesn't interest them. Do you have a contact e-mail or phone number that might help? I wanted to get this project done by Christmas but I'm guessing that is not going to happen. I'd rather not have to buy the unit again even though UCEC seems anxious to have me purchase the products from them that I purposely left in my On-line Cart with them. Thanks for your time. I love your attention to detail BTW.
I will reach out to my contact at UCEC and ask them to take a look at you issues. Please Email me through my business contact in the 'About' tab.
@@PE4Doers I got the code by whining to Amazon and the code arrived in a day or 2. My problem now is that all the converted videos are 10 second out of sync. Any thoughts?
@@MindenMoose That can happen in the lower-end equipment. Do you have a video editor (there are a couple of Free ones out there), which would allow you to re-synch the audio.
@@PE4Doers Thanks for the response. Are you talking about the PC I am using? I have photoshop Premier but I have noticed that the sync issue is not consistent. I can re-sync the audio off the top but the sync goes out again after a few minutes.I got a response from yelpdeal@qq.com who suggested I fudge the audio using the application that came with the device. Of course none of the things they suggested I change were accessible on the honestech application that was supplied. I might try moving the device to my main computer and see if your suggestion helps. Thanks very much again.
@@MindenMoose Yes, I was referring to the PC editor. I may be out of ideas for you, since I just tested mine again and it seems to work fine with everything synced. Have you tried giving the company a call on that yet?
I wish someone made a video capture card that requires no software program download. If the converter converts to digital. One should be able to go straight into Iphoto or Imovie as I do for my modern DSLR recordings.
I see your point and agree. This device fills a gap that was created in computer technology more than 25 years ago. I guess they really didn't expect computer systems to be that involved with video at first.
So I just ordered this and the reviews say it only copy’s over video in blacks and white with horizontal lines. Did you see that with your device?
Not at all. As you can see in my samples in this video it definitely does color. Using only the RCA connectors (rather than the S-Video) it does show some washed-out colors, but that is true of many of my old VHS tapes due to the loss in resolution.
@@PE4Doers okay, so the old VHS tapes that my grandfather used to film with, they play perfect on the TV. But when using this device, I can see that the tape goes black and white with red horizontal lines. Do you know what that could be from? I can't find answers anywhere.
@@BigBalledKangaroo Are you using the RCA connectors"
@@PE4Doers yes I am.
@@kaitlynnborruso35 The resolution with those cables tends to be quite low, and with some devices the current output is low as well. That could appear nearly B&W. One of my old camera looks that way when I connect it to a TV or through a device like this.
Does that VHS player have an S-Video connector (about 3/16" in dia with 9-pins). If so, the quality from that tends to be MUCH better.
Hello. I am using the UCEC All-in-One device to convert some family movies from my JVC camcorder. I have hooked the camera up using the S-video cable and I have the following settings: Device is AV to USB2.0 and Mic/Aux Audio is AV to USB2.0. I have a MacBook Pro and am using Quick Time Player, and I can get the picture to record but there is no sound. Is there some other setting somewhere, either on the camera or in Quick Time Player that I don't have set right? I previously converted a number of family movies from VHS tapes into Quick Time Player with these settings and did not have any issues getting the sound. These are the same settings I used when I was doing that. Can anyone help me as to what the problem might be?
Do you have all three cables connected? the Yellow, Red and White. Also, I've always found that the S-Video cable works best for both picture quality and sound. Does your VHS player support S-Video? You may have to buy that cable however, since I don't believe one is included with the UCEC device.
I don't have the 3 cables connected to the camera as there is no place to connect them to. I have the S-Video cable connected to the camera using another cable and the settings in Quick Time Player as I said above. I do have to use another cable that has both ends male to connect into the All-in-One device and then into the camera where the S-video connection is female. Could it be an issue with that cable that the sound is not coming through?@@PE4Doers
Does it works on Vmix for church streaming ?
That I'm not sure about because I never used Vmix. As long as input from a USB video source is supported however, I believe it will likely work.
What is the maximum video resolution of this device?
It appeared to be 720P. Which is really the maximum that any of the input devices could be (i.e the S-Video).
Is there a link to download Imaging Edge Webcam?? I have a Mac and it doesn't work please someone helpp :(
I will see if I can find one.
Can someone please share the drivers or the disk software for me, so that the UCEC USB Video Converter / Adapter works? I appreciate your help
For Windows 10 I did not need any Drivers. That CD/DVD that comes with it is for editing software which I chose not to use since other FreeWare I trust is much better.
I have been fighting hard with this UCEC capture video: I hardly install de software cause I have no CD drive. Never works with that app so I tried OBS, it worked with no audio. I tough maybe with Wirecast again no audio. I have been trying with all the possible settings so I gave to the conclusion that the UCEC device is defective.
I did not try using the included software since I have so many others that I know well. For the Audio, did you check the little box in the OBS Device Properties labeled 'Use custom audio device'?
I thought I had the same problem with audio but read the instruction booklet carefully, OBS audio settings on pg 14, 15
What is OBS? Does this device let you edit your old VHS tapes? I was hoping to transfer my old family VHS tapes and digital movie tapes to flash drives on my MacBook PRO, but then do some editing. Will this allow me to do that?
OBS is the Free Open Broadcasting Software used for Live Streaming (mostly), which I also use for screen captures and USB device comparisons. Converting the old VHS tapes to a pure digital format is exactly what this device is geared toward.
The unit does come with a CD that has a free version of editing software, which I chose not to install on my computer workstation. There are a number of Free editing packages out there (such DaVinci Resolve) that I am more trusting toward, so I would load one of those before a no-name utility. Just my over-caution in modern times. It should work fine with you Mac Book since it outputs through a standard USB.
Will it work with my DTH? I can't use my elgato via hdmi cz it has hdcp thing...
So can i use this dnd record dth from my pc?
I'm not sure. Does it have the stereo/video output cables - Red/White/Yellow? If not, maybe there is a cable you get to make the conversion.
Or even better if you can get S-Video out of it (that round cable with four pins in it)
@@PE4Doers Yes it has the RCA output
Yes. Red, White, Yellow.
@@spicygaming8779 Then it should probably work
@@PE4Doers Thank's :)
What do I have wrong in my audio settings that the sound from my vhs tapes don't come through and all I have is my voice from the laptop mic?
How are you connected between the PC and the VHS player? S-Video or the Red/White/Yellow connectors?
@@PE4Doers Currently with the red/white/yellow connectors, but getting a S video cable today.
@@tinaash712 OK, those are the RCA cables. I have found that some cameras and VHS players are particular which cables you use for certain resolutions. For example, I have a VHS/DVD player that will only output to the S-Video cable when I am plying a DVD. But also consider you have one of the defective units I have heard about on this device. You can give them a call (or Email) - I have heard they will replace it.
