  • G.F. Handel (1685 - 1759)
Hamor's recitativo "With transport, Iphis, I behold thy safety", duet "All that is in Hamor / "Iphis mine" and quintet "Joys triumphant crown thy days" from Act III, Jephtha, HWV 70
    Jamie-Rose Guarrine - Soprano
    Jakub Józef Orliński - Countertenor
    Julian Wachner - Conductor
    Trinity Baroque Orchestra
The Choir of Trinity Wall Street
    When: 1:00 pm, March 22, 2017
Where: St. Paul's Chapel / NYC
    Recitativo:
With transport, Iphis, I behold thy safety,
But must forever mourn so dear a loss,
Dear, though great Jephtha were to honour me
Still with the name of son.
My faithful Hamor, may that Providence
Which gently claims or forces our submission,
Direct thee to some happier choice.
    Duet:
All that is in Hamor / Iphis mine,
    Freely I to Heav'n resign.
    Duteous to the will supreme,
    Still my Hamor I'll esteem.
    Duteous to almighty pow'r,
    Still my Iphis I'll adore.
    Quintet:
    Joys triumphant crown thy days,
    And thy name eternal praise.

His voice becomes richer, more expressive and more focused each time I hear him. An extraordinary talent.

It is indeed a privilege to be able to follow the development of probably the finest countertenor voice of his generation. An exquisite and unaffected voice with perfect control. Bravissimo .

I think that what we all owe to Cencic and particularly Jakub Orlinski is that countertenor in an "alto" timbre (if I may say so) opened us mortals to an extreme beauty of the baroque music.

Ależ poza Orlińskim są wszyscy inni świetnie śpiewajacy. Dziewczyna ma piekną barwę glosu i śpiewa znakomicie. Gratulacje dla wszystkich. Ale z Jakuba jako Polka jestem dumna

5:00 And with that last note, the Baroque era ended.
