Your points about rattle cans vs airbrush, and the notion of specific highlighting areas you wish to be brighter are lessons I had to learn the hard way. I wish someone had mentioned those nuances in a video when I first started using speedpaints. I hope more painters see your video.

I almost cut this part out when i realized how long the video had become but I felt I could not. Especially information about not all zenithals being equal is surprisingly scarce.
Just as for you it took me several failed attempts to find this out so I figured that if I can help someone to cut our half a year of frustration it is worth keeping.
Thank you for confirming that it was a wise decision :)

      Thank you!
It was way more work than I expected to make a video like this and I'm happy that someone liked it :)

Hi! First of all, great chanell, helped me a lot in my mousillon project. Do you use gloss varnish first before oil washes, or you apply it straight on acryl paint?

      Thank you for the feedback!
There is no varnish at any point.
The only situation where I imagine myslef using it would be if I find it important that some specific part should be less stained than parts around it.

@@honestminis9530 Awesome! Thank you for the response. Im little afraid to start oil washes, but I can always repaint those peasants :)

@@blackeye256 I have a handful of poor little skavens that I use as labrats in case I try something completely new.
If you feel uncertain I suggest you find a true spare miniature and try on that one first.
To build some confidence it could even be a good idea to try rubbing hard enough to actually damage the acrylic color. Then you will know where the limit is :)

really nice, what would you say is required to make this more grimdark?

Thank you for your comment. I is a good question!
It took a while to answer because I had to think a bit :)
I would say texture and more variation in colors.
I think I explain more what I mean with Boxdark in the video "Dwarf treasure hunters fail to go grimdark"
Just compare it to something Dark Ages Workshop does ;)

These minis turned out really great, loved it. Some very interesting techniques that you used throughout the process. Certainly as I watched parts like the black oil bath there was a bit of faith that it was all going to turn out, and you certainly deserved that faith :-)
Do you use Discord much or considered using it much for hobby purposes? I'm on a pretty good discord belonging to Miniature Realms that has a good atmosphere where people can share their hobby, even has a section on promoting your own stuff (like your UA-cam channel). There would I think be a lot of people who would appreciate what you do over there. I'm not affiliated with the Discord other than being someone on there...just suggesting a place you might enjoy sharing your work.

It is a leap of faith but I've done it so many times now. That Newsh stuff will be a real leap if I do that :)
I check in on the 'build and paint' channel oh the Mordheim discord from time to time. I've tried some others as well but I usually fall behind of I try to follow something as I have a low social media addiction. But I'll at least have a peak at the MR channel!

@@honestminis9530 that would be cool. Certainly there isn’t any pressure or commitment particularly required to use it. I check sometimes during the day or night during my quiet times. You can see the Bretonnians I have been painting there recently, my user name there is the same as here. I’ve been doing the hobby pledge which just gives a little extra motivation. I like seeing a broad range of people’s efforts

    Really enjoyed this
I’ve learnt a lot of techniques but sometimes the simplistic methods are the best
Where can I find these models?

      Thank you!
I've also tried a lot of fancier stuff and totally agree.
The miniatures are actually just the standard Bretonnian men-at-arms combined (in general) with skeleton arms. I bought the arms as scraps on something similar to ebay but as I understand it they are actually in the Tomb Kings skeletons as well.
