Its going to sound great! I just recently built an EDF foamboard plane, similar style to this one and it has become my most enjoyable plane/wing to fly
Zohd kopilot system would probably fit in there nicely, you’d have return to home and stability modes would make it a nice cruiser, and with the fpv module it would be a great long distance flyer. It also looks very nice too.
I don't think it would make a good long distance flier, depending on what your definition of "long distance" is. EDF's are highly inefficient, they just SUCK down the power, an you can't really do a Li-Ion batt pack in them because they suck up so much juice.
id love to test that with the crazy aggressive birds over my house sometimes. i wonder if its impervious to all the hawks and blue Jays because the prop is hidden..
Flew mine for the first time today. 5 flights. My first ever flying wing. 2200 4s zippy compact and cog at bang on 65mm. Throws exactly as manual with 2mm up from neutral on elevons. Surprisingly easy hand launches at 70 percent throttle. 50 percent expo made flying controllable and glides in smoothly for landing. Only flew on two thirds throttle cause I scare easily. Was very pleasantly surprised for my first flying wing as I expected a much worse outcome. Hope this helps. Andy in uk.
Hi Andy, thanks for that. Actually really helpful as we are playing with this model for a flight setup video at the moment. I've also found that there isn't enough of a tube behind the EDF so you loose some of the power. If you add just a 1" extension it can add about 10% more thrust making it a lot more efficient. Happy flying!
Can’t wait for your first flight! ZOHD maybe has every category covered. But they do miss a capable „normal“ plane with „t-tail“ flaps and all that goodness.
Yes, they've done some truly cutting edge aircraft, leading the way with producing easy to assemble models. But I agree, they would be on to a winner if they put those techniques into what we would describe as a "normal" plane.
i feel the one down side is if the motor burns up there is nothing else that can be used atleast on the alpha strike you can switch motors to what ever you want i have been into speed here lately i dont fly far just fast
I've had my eyes on this plane and it's sister for a few months now lol. Such a cool looking plane. I'm going to wait until I can fly a little better until I buy one.
As an efficiency/endurance chaser, EDFs are the worst choice. BUT this one looks really gorgeous! For the field... But, I'm almost never at the field... Damn it ^^
Nope. See my video on why vendors need better manuals to see some of the attempts at flying /launching.. Not up to ZOHDs historically high standards of design... Happy flying
Maybe a stabilizing RX for a more novice type pilot...Like ME~!... haha...I still had to have one. Waiting on its delivery. I am thinking of the Admiral Stab RX. We shall see. Great Review as always. Maybe in '22 ZHOD will attempt a VTOL? Seems to be about the only style they are yet to offer.
I really want to try this model out, as I'm a huge fan of Zohd....but I am also building a Dart XL Extreme for long-range an I don't think this would be a good candidate at all, as EDF, though fun, fast, an terrific-sounding...are inefficient AF. Still, this would be fun to play with. I didn't quite like the Alpha Strike so much.
Are these 50mm EDF motors (2611 4000KV) efficient for cruising? Wondering how would it fit to AR wing PRO. Maybe even two of them for better yaw control.
@@Painless360 Thanks, i was probably wrong when i thought lower kV motor, less blades and larger housing/prop diameter would be spot on for efficient cruiser.
Thanks for the video. For me, this particular model just misses all the marks for use as an FPV plane. Having the pan servo where it is, the lack of internal space for flight controller and even worse the poor access into the area where one might put a flight controller, even a small one like the F411-WSE. Being EDF is the last straw if I'm honest, I guess it could be fun and there will be lots of people who'll be happy to fly an FPV EDF, but flight time will be short in comparison to a regular motor/prop combo. I noticed also, the servo wires just go straight through the internal air ducts, from ZOHD who've been great at designing their planes in the past, I would have expected the servo wires to at least loop over or under the air ducts.
I hope that once ZOHD are happy they have filled this gap in their line-up they go back and improve some of the older classics too... Still waiting for a Dart V3 that can support modern electronics easily for example..
I was wondering if it would be possible to use in this model the zohd flight controller? I have a spare from my Orbit Neon. Have you tried this model with a flight controller? Thanks!
@@Painless360 , care to expand on the issues you've found? I have a spare ZOHD stabilizer from my Orbit Neon, do you think that stabilizer could work on this plane? Last question; Have you maiden your Delta Strike and are you planning on making a video? Thanks again Lee for all of your reviews/videos!!
Hello, I’m thinking about buying one of these but I can’t find the details/differences between the pnp and fpv versions. Any chance you could help me out?
@@Painless360 Sorry, yes! Looking at the site for the plane, the radio is not included. I saw a 4 channel radio at Amazon and maybe it would work with the plane.
A radio is an investment in the hobby so check out my Kit Picks video from last summer (new one one the way fro this year but the radio piece is the same)..
I don’t think you need an iNav FC and GPS in something like this with short flight durations. You can’t go very far and get back home! Radio dual rates should enable good control. Maybe a small simple stabilizer would be enough and would fit.
I hope they go back to the stuff they used to be really good at: well designed, easy to fly models that are fun, easy to fly and designed for modern electronics that also look cool.
Fantastic review, Lee! 😃 I don't know if they read some of my comments asking for an EDF version, but thanks a lot, ZOHD! 😃 But yeah... The lack of space for a flight controller is a real bummer... 😕 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I fit a gps in under a removable panel in front.of the tail fin and a Sparky 2.0 flight controller all the way at the end of the battery bay. 3/4 of the sparky 2.0 is way back on the foam. It is an ugly aircraft. The model must fly beautifully and be reliable to overcome the appearance. Drones are better for video capture? It is a matter of taste. Appearance is the whole enchilada for many modelers. Respect, Bradford

that would be good paired with the new ELRS PWM reciever. No Flight Controller needed

It would be safer for wildlife with no exposed blades - the EDF noise would help too ;)

A modern version of the old Skyangel Screamer?
What are your flight times (with which battery)?
Have you designed a camera mount? And are you gonna upload a flight video of it?
