Typically I am annoyed by repair video creators who show anything but the actual task at hand. But stopping in the middle for lunch and the bus made this very relatable. It made me smile instead of annoyed. Great job on the repair too. From one dad to another, nice job.
Congrats being a dad bro she is adorable. Ahh quality times with her while u fix da car n send her to school . Way cool . Am nit a dad but a very proud uncle of 4 girls by my two sisters. So cool
Thank you sir. Out of the dozens of videos I watched you're the only one who showed the gap between the seal and the base of the cv axle. I just did mine and tighten everything just to wonder after the fact that I might not have pushed it all the way in. But I see that yours is the same way. I even can see the lip of the cv axle base. Again thank you.
Me too! I sniped my ABS line when changing brakes. Also damaged the cone ring where I could not reinstall it. I ain't paying $27.00 for another one. Oh well. I am if the age that predates ABS brakes. I don't need 'em.
This is about as real as it gets! A) DIY solutions that may or may not work, B) broken bolts and C) invariably, the day is filled with expletives during the process. THAT IS ME!
Ha! When that bolt broke up we swore at the same time. I like your video style, it's nice to watch without having to listen to someone yapping the entire video about every single thing they do.
This was great! Even though it wasn't all about fixing, it was still great with the extra footage of your precious daughter! Ah, I wish I didn't live in the rust belt, so much rust to deal with when working on anything older than 8 years. At least there's some consolation with the motorcycles I work on as they tend to be very rust free, hahaha! Thank you so much for your time and efforts to make great videos!
Honest mechanic, great father and overall great person. I've been watching your videos non stop since I found your channel yesterday bro. Love the videos
I'm a 23yr technician. enjoyed watching this. makes me relax to watch someone other than me doing this. Impact broke the bolt and u say(shit) I know all those words haha.
I learned lots skills from u videos. 3 things that I love to watch u videos are no bullshxt talking , fast speed forward, and add u adorable daughter ( cause I have a daughter myself ). I appreciate what u did for audiences.
That was a nice trick with the ABS bolt using the RTV adhesive to make the sensor stay put. I'm going to use that. When those little 10mm bolts are frozen in the ABS sensor. Best way to avoid the bolt snapping on you is to follow the wire and disconnected it from the other end and just pull it of the car with the knuckle.
Great informative video, I have a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 and need to change my CV axle and seals which I had changed early last but axles and wheel hub bearing are making noise. Definitely not paying someone else to screw my SUV up again. Great video and you and your family stay blessed and safe.
Australia. The rust is crazy. knowing that if work to be done I'd be spraying two cans on all bolts and letting it soak before I started. Easy to drill out 10mm censor bolt. Good job 👍
I just purchased the same vehicle SL all-wheel-drive today I am getting package of side axle replaced glad I seen that you had to buy a seal I guess it wouldn’t be wise to use the same seal that goes into the CVT thank you for this video my friend love all of your videos
I’m from New England and you can’t remove the abs sensor from the spindle 99% of the time. I usually just unplug it. If I do break that 6mm fastener I put some silicone on the shaft portion not the tiny flange. Usually the plastic is so swollen it fits tight in the spindle anyways.
Just got done putting in a NAPA reman drivers side CV axle in a 2000 V6 Camry. I just removed the the two big bolts from the strut to knuckle/hub and swung it out of the way.
@@BillSW I believe so I’m replacing both inner boots tearing at the same spot by the small boot clamp and the OEM only lasted 42,000miles so I’m going to try aftermarket
Just a small peice of advise for anyone watching anytime you beat the threaded end of the bolt to get it out , or a tie rod, thread the nut back on, and that will protect the threads from getting damaged.
You know, generally that's true, but those axle nuts are made of a softer material than the axle, and I've beat on them in the past and it actually ruins the axle nut. I think it's best to use the punch like Angel did.
@@JoBianco I was not being specific to the axle nut. I just remember seeing him hit on bolts or ball joints etc. If you're talking about the end of an axle shaft then yea, a few little taps is usually all it takes to help it out of the hub and you also have a rather large surface area. To be even more detailed, when you do thread a nut back onto a bolt, threaded rod, etc. You need to run it up flush with the end of the bolt. In other words one FULL nut up the threads. This way you don't damage the threads, OR the nut. Like you said it's a generally speaking thing. I have worked on a variety of heavy equipment and they usually require a lot more beating of parts compared to automotive and this trick will save a lot of threads being damaged.
Yes they removed the ball joint and the bolt was damaged 🙄 but on this video it says you dont need to remove it 😒🙄 but I have a different vehicle nissan sentra?
When I replaced the transmission in my dad's acura tl I replaced the CV axles anyway so I just pried them out with a flat head and a hammer worked minty
My technique I learned from experienced mechanics is to put transmission in neutral and twist the CV axle back and forth gently and use a special adjustable pry bar to loosen the inner axle. Replacement of axle you wiggle gently twisting clockwise and counter clockwise and it slips in the hole. There's other ingenious ways I've seen on UA-cam. Whatever works best. Don't get frustrated and damage the transmission by banging it with a hammer.
Only thing is you don't want to be prying and twisting the axle while in park. Watched a AA1 video where the lady mech mentioned putting a pry bar between stud bolts and ground while tightening the spindle nut with the car in Neutral. Takes strain off of transmission, which was new to me.
I remember when I use to rebuild this things, watching this, could not think or remember it took this long to take it out or that i had to remove all this bolt and even the breaker, I don't know maybe I was taught different, but take them off , rebuild them and put them back was done very quick, I really don't remember taking all this things out but its been a while🙈
In my book, you're a bada$$. We're raising our granddaughter and your little one reminds me of my little one. Noodles, hotdogs and her hair "chongos" (those rubber band things to make ponytails). All we are waiting for is that bus. Not really looking forward to that. Keep on rocking Sir!

Ничего себе у него инструментов много, а еще новые запчасти, у нас бы пыльник поменяли и катайся дальше, но вот сорваный болт это косяк, нужно сверлить и заменить
In rust belt area, we don't remove the ABS sensor. Just undo the wire and connector. Even if you were able to remove the bolt, chances are the sensor will be stuck from rust in the hole and might break the sensor trying to remove.
I'm not trying to tell you how to do your job but, if you put just a little lubricant on the end of the shaft, it will go in easier. Awesome video. Thanks a lot.

To be honest a easy out would of got that out. Not trying to discredit this man but as a professional that's uncalled for. I can see a weekend Warrior try something like THAT but not a professional. He should of At least tried a easy out being in the south with no rust it shouldn't of been a issue. Up here in the north yes you might of had to use a timesert or coil of some kind. Worst case over drill the whole and retap next size. the sad part is you would also have to drill the sensor.
Hey so i replaced my axles on my 2000 Odyssey because when I’m at a complete stop n start to turn left it would clack but when I’m driving the noise isn’t that bad. Yeah that sucks haha. I try not to use impact tools if the nut is small. A good sized wrench and a pipe are the right tools for those little bastards.
Don't mess with rust bolt unless you need too just umplug the sensor and leave it

All in the video was good but the best part I liked was inspite of the work schedule, you took care of your daughter. Hats off to you. God Bless You.

Raman noodles and a hot dog. Gourmet meal for a child. I remember those days. They grow up so fast. Enjoy them while you can.
The most satisfying part of this video is watching that Ramen cook to absolute perfection. 👍
do you know if both sides are same? inner transfer case and gear.
