Hi Fran and Rich. Sorry to see you both not been well ,you need some lemon juice ,honey and hot water first thing in the morning, keeps me going.... We love Chester and the shop's nice and near the canal. Take care .🍷🍷
I recommend carrying on to Audlem, turn there before the locks, marina there if you want to top up batteries, lovely little village, moor before the turning point and walk in, lots of walks there for the dogs. Three pubs and a safe lovely place to be. Llangollen is recommended early season, we are hanging around to do it before following your plan.
Hi Tim, that was our original plan but we can't go that way at the moment as there is another closure and we don't want to wait around so it will have to be another time. We think we may save llangollen for the Autumn now.
If going to Buxton, the Opera house is a must to look around. Same designer ,Frank Matchum, who designed the Palladium . Coliseum and so many more Theatres in the West End. Its a gem.
Those Pakoras/fritters are wonderful, I tried them and served them with mango chutney; perhaps one of the tastiest things I've eaten recently along with my version of your coconut curry!
While Fran was cooking her vegetable pancake fritter blobs I was able to see the nice tile job you did. I must say it came out rather well, even if you say you are not handy.
make an double batch of those cooked veggies and put them inside a grilled cheese sandwich, and you can add Worcestershire sauce if you like. I enjoy your videos
With regard to your Welsh Dresser with the gap down the back - can I make a suggestion. Remove the back of the dresser and then fit filler side pieces to cover the gap on both sides. You can then extend the shelves to the back which will give you more shelf space. You can cover the sides of the dresser with some ply to hide the join and paint either the same color as the walls or the same color as the dresser. I think it will look a lot neater and is not a difficult DIY job. Just a suggestion - take it or leave it. Hope this makes sense. This message comes from Heidelberg, Western Cape, South Africa.
Belated happy birthday Fran. -32C at my grandchildren’s the other day, they are in their glory outdoors ice skating and ice fishing. Lot of work for Grandpa to cut an 8ft wide hole 30ft long in the ice to get the boat in, ice is 18 inches thick. 🤣🌊

I love your bob haircut! Dallas TX. How difficult is laundry on narrow boat. I understand one would have to narrow ones closet to practically nothing, but still, there’s always laundry. I guess what I’m trying to ask is when you fill the boat with water, how long before you have to refill, given showers, dishes, laundry etc.
We tend to do laundry as the tank is filling up which can take up to an hour, then we don't use our stored water. We fill up when ever we get a chance but can last nearly a week if we are careful.
My home city. I bought a narrowboat a few weeks ago and I'm currently heading back to Chester now. Just sitting the weather out outside the Harecastle tunnel until passage through on Wed. :)
Hi Fran & Rich, going to try your pancake mix after today as I have your no knead bread in the oven this morning. I know you don't want to be a cooking blog but up to now they have been very good, so just throw 1 in now & again Fran. Loving your journey.
So good to know your both safe and sound after the awful storms and flooding we had been thinking of you both. Fritters look good Fran, Will have a go today and add a little grated Parmesan on top. Good deal with the broadband btw :-) keep warm and plenty of fruit for those colds. Warmest regards to you both, William
Sorry the weather has marred your visit to the area to a degree (I know you make the best of it anyway), nice up Buxton, used to ride there years ago, nice in the pavilion and gardens, the fritters look good although not cooked proper!, no singing or black bits anywhere (how else do you know when stuff's cooked?), good times ahead the Daffodils are nearly ready to show us a sea of yellow, then all the other wonders of nature will be lining up to show us a vista of colour, moments of just sitting and gorping with glazed eyes (no not from the whiskey!!) but from Gods gift to us all, you can almost just feel that sun on your face if you let your mind wonder then wishing for a cool breeze to come along and ruffle your hair, (wish I could add music now, "Maid with the flaxen hair" would be nice to set the mood. Farewell dear friends farewell.xx
We were not worried about the weather Albert,at least we were in a lovely place. We're heading back your way again, so we will keep our eyes out for a flash of yellow on the towpath x

It's very rare a canal will flood. There are so many weirs that run into rivers should the water levels rise. We fill our water tank usually once a week and see ep.12 for washing. We also visit laundromats for large items. Thanks for watching.

Hi guys. Top power saving tip: Turn off your inverter. Run everything off 12 volts. Also, buy a battery load tester off Fleabay for about a tenner. Now I'm off to cook keema curry for tea. I may even throw together some onion bhajis. All the best.

I look forward to trying the pancakes. I have chick pea flour home - I use it for an Ethiopian dish.
You can't just drop that in without a recipe Justine. I'm intrigued x
@@FloatingOurBoat I make Shiro Wat with the chick pea flour - and my own injera with teff flour. www.thegourmetgourmand.com/ethiopian-shiro-wat/ and www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchen/injera-ethiopian-flatbread-3364733
Fantastic vlog as usual. Glad you all are ok.
Hi guys.
Top power saving tip: Turn off your inverter. Run everything off 12 volts. Also, buy a battery load tester off Fleabay for about a tenner.
Now I'm off to cook keema curry for tea. I may even throw together some onion bhajis.
All the best.
SarkyBugger Yes, some papadem with prata on top of that would be good.
Glad to see you survived the storms. Great vlog
Good to see you are both on the mend. Going to cook Fran's super food soon. Happy cruising the cut. :) XX
They will make a great starter before one of your curries. Miss you two x
Enjoy your travels
Thank you both, pleased you did not suffer too much in the storms. Looking forward to seeing your trip to the Peak Forest. Take care

Saw signs of spring 💐 in your video. Those fritters resemble the recipe for what we call hush puppies in the Southern US. They are made with corn meal flour though. Often veggies are added in. I bet they are 😋. I’ll be glad to see Peak Forest again it IS beautiful
Hi Debbie. Spring is definitely knocking at the door now. I love the name hush puppy. We may adopt that for ours.
Wow did I see right daffodils out already in the village of Christleton or are my eyes playing tricks
Hi Anthony, the daffodils are just about coming out all around here, you are not seeing things x
Thanks for including the flower videos! Are the little white ones on the ground "snow drops?"
Hi Jo, yes, they are snowdrops, one of our favourite spring flowers.
we are going stir crazy in Nantwich. Can't wait for winter stoppages to end
Only a couple of weeks to go. Hold tight and spring is on its way xx
Hi stir crazy very nice blog what time of the year? You should be having bad weather at present floods snow high winds or have you found a sheltered spot?
Hi Roger. This video is very current. I think we were just lucky and avoided the worst of the weather. We filmed in between the stormy days.
