Name of disconnect tool
I bought mine at harbor freight for less than 10 bucks
After watching a dozen of other videos without seeing how to install the quick connect tool, this one actually shows it being done. THANK YOU for a great video.
Awesome. Glad this video helped out brother
Really ...finally a mechanic who can explains well ......and no jumping camera and nonsense filming. Thanks very helpful
Thank you so much you are the only person who actually showed removing with the disconnect tool, everyone else had removed the quick connect without showing it.
Out of all the videos I watched on this topic!! This was by far the best!!! Clear, clean and understanding what’s needed tone seen
Great job showing how to use the quick connect tool! Most other guys breeze past the "how to" when removing hose and electric connectors, which is usually where a lot of us who don't do this everyday have challenges. Thanks, very very good job!
Thank you so much! Went to harbor freight bought the ratchet and dental pic. Project went perfect. No other video was detailed like yours. You are now my go to guy for vids! Al
Awesome. Glad this video helped out
Very well explained. I liked the way you showed step by step with the camera how to slip the removal tool on the hose to remove the quick connect. Thanks for sharing this info.
A needed video for sure. Everyone who has fought with those tight fittings will agree.
Excellent video, thanks for the very clear and accurate demonstration on how the quick disconnect works.
Great description and great view of the tool actually going. I’ve had a hard time using the tool correctly but I think I can do it now. Thanks again.
Hell yeah. Just broke down on the road and this helped a bunch. I’m a lot calmer now seeing how easy it was. Thanks
Simply the best short video showed. Goat.
Thank you !!! Great camera shot that's what I needed that plastic tool made no sense until I watched.
Thanks again!!!
Im glad this video helped out. and again thanks for watching
Why would we come here to see how something is done and then the idiots dont show you how to do what you want. YOU THE MAN ! THANKS FOR THIS INFORMATIVE BIT OF KNOWLEDGE!
Thanks for watching
Thank you. I wish I'd seen your video sooner because I just bought a new heater hose assembly and got it home. Had no idea how to connect or disconnect this hose because the connector looks foreign and over complicated when most hoses simply require a screwdriver. Then I seen your video. Now I have to go back to the parts store and buy a removal tool to remove it. Hopefully they have one. Thanks again.
Super clutch man i know my shit but damm you truly do learn something everyday! Thank you an props to you for getting a good shot the whole time. Thank you
Great demonstration. Keep up the good work
Added to my The UA-cam Garage playlist... mainly cause you did this for us in the rain. Thanks!
excellent camera work. very informative. Thanks.
Thank you for making this video. I was ready to fight the quick connect off with pliers. I went to go buy the disconnect tool thanks to your video. 👍👍👍👍👍
Sweeeeeeeeet I’m glad this video helped out. Rock on brother
best video shot using hose quick disconnect tool EVER!!
Hubert Manley thank you very much. It means a lot when others like my videos
Great job and getting that shot really hard to do that while you're trying to work on something some people just don't understand that
straight and to the point. Excellent video
Your da man! I was stumped. Unfortunately forgot to buy the tool for a time pressing repair. Thank You!
Thank you . This will save me hours. I bought my releases at harbor freight. Thanks
Finally someone actually shows that it goes in behind and pushes in. Good video and thanks!
Spencer Garten hey thanks for watching. Always makes me feel good to know there's people out there that appreciate my videos
@@OzMechanics Do you remember the size of the tool? Great informative video much appriciated.
Thanks for actually showing how to use the damn tool and not explaining then coming back after you did the work. Not a mechanic by far but this actually helped me
Finally the 6th video actually using the tool in the back crappy area of the job.
Great video! Very helpful. Thank you!
Finally somebody explains it well... I was fighting without the tool.. everyone was saying I didn't need but damn I wasted a hour cussing and fussing.
No sh!t! Big help here! cracked knuckles and lots of cussing now it makes sense.
Thank you for showing step by step AWESOME
Super helpful man thanks so much for the info it helped 100% 🙏🏾
Very helpful video! Thanks bro!

You the man. I was trying to pull from behind the tool!! Got plyers and pulled right off!! Nice camera work!!
Awesome. Glad this video helped out. Cheers
That was a great position for the camera,, finally a look at the male end of the heater core pipe coming through the firewall.
Cheers and much growers love from way down South from pawpawdabs.
Good video straight to the point

Those quick connects can be a pain in the rear end to get off sometimes.Nice video.
jimthecarguy heck yea they can. I just took another pair off yesterday
You the real MVP.
Great Video. 5 Stars.
Sweet. Glad you liked it
Thanks for the tip. People keeping saying you don’t need a tool just pull hard. But that’s a lie I broke the tip and still have to get the tool and pull off the rest
Such a great video awesome Thanks
Awesome video!
Mane this video is 🔥
Bro, you're true boss!
So many videos out there, and yours is the only one that actually shows the tool in action. Thank You!! (So where did you buy that little tool?)
Pedros Salsa hey well thanks for watching. I’m really glad this video helped out.
Amazon has it
Nice video - super clear view of the heater core inlet & outlet. I have a 2009 Cadillac CTS with I THINK a clogged heater core. Looks like my hose connections are with standard hose clamps. So I paid a shop over $400 in November of 2017 to flush my heater core and radiator and refill with Valvoline Zerex coolant when I lost heat on the driver’s side. No more Dexcool. Good or bad??? So now, only 4 months later, I have very little passenger heat and no driver heat again. Seems like all blend doors are functioning properly. So, do you suppose this just needs another flush? Original mechanic wanted to pull out my dashboard and replace the heater core for like $1,200! I know how to flush & fill the core - looks like a bit of a hassle, but I think I can do it for $50 +/-. I think I can save most of the coolant that is less than 6 months old if I just flush the core and pinch off the hoses to the radiator/water pump. Any input/insight/thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
This saved my ass. Thanks man
Thank u so much bro i was goona go crazy lol
Great video,thx for the demo.
No problem Darrell hope this video helped out. Thanks for stopping by
I salute your dexterity! That was pretty impressive to be able to "one hand" the application of the tool, all the while holding the phone/camera in just the right spot... aimed the right direction.
Kudos
Thank you I have a 2003 tahoe and 2009 Silverado, and when i fixed the Tahoe lots of cussing thanks for the video working on my truck one in 5 minutes,
Cool good to hear this video helped
Haha you make it look easy. I can’t get the tool to fit in there. At least I know what size for sure it is now. Thank you sir
Christopher no problem. Let me know if it works
good lord it took a hour and a half till I shot some wd40 in there. that was the problem. my tool wouldn't fit more than half way.. taking the heater core out and that was the hardest part lol go figure. P.S. I used my 8 year old daughter to get the screws of the fire wall! you wouldn't believe how good of a mechanic kids could be! haha thanks for your help!
hi , I want to ask , how you disconnected the hose with that aluminum connection from the heater core, before to change inside the thing! Thanks!
things I use the heater core and I used the the core removal and the new heater core failed on me so I'm just going to have to put them together it's leaking really bad but thank you I appreciate the information and that's what I'm going to do I'm just going to connect Bose hoses together
For the 128 dislike, man you guys are just made, cause it took you all day to get the hose off.
Thank you sir!
Thank you
Thank you, been looking for ways to remove it without damage the connector.
Glad this video helped out
Thank you!
Great vid on the matter, and that rig up,OH NO! 👍🍻
So which side is the inlet and which is the outlet would like to know trying to do a heater core flush?
Very nice thank you easy way simble littel speak but usefull
Wish I had seen this first. I had to use a steak knife to saw through the plastic then a flat head screw driver to pry it carefully away not to damage the metal heater tube.
99 Silverado. In the process of replacing all hoses. I lifted the heater hose a bit to look for numbers and the end of the hose literally breaks away without any force. Glad I was not on the road somewhere.
Great Job Oz...cause they are extremely hard to access especially on a 2001 f150....ever replaced a heater core on this truck? Also how about videos on classic vehicles like timing ...total and base ....tune ups service you know general repairs on our classics. ..
Thanks. It’s not obvious on those trucks. Sometimes it helps to push the hose in while trying to engage the tool. They certainly don’t give you much room at the firewall on their design.
Thank you! Lol easy and to the point! A+
Hey thank you for watching. Does make me feel good knowing my videos help out others
Oz Mechanics yeah it helps a lot lol I'm like why isn't this coming off -_- well better go to UA-cam lol
Oz Mechanics do not get the AutoZone fuel and ac line disconnecting plastic tools. They're tooooo short lol wound up getting a plastic lid from a spray paint can and cut it to size and popped the old ones off in no time lol the AC/fuel line plastic "tool" were the only ones and that's what they gave me lol -_- 9.99 down the drain. But at least I got spares for something else lol
So how did connect the new quick connector to the old hose with metal fitting?? How does it stay in place? Does it snap in hose? OR did you cut it off and connect hose with hose clamp??? Or use a different connector on hose that connect to quick connect? Please clarify. Thank great video!
How do you remove the Y joint? I have a hole in it and cant seem to remove the plastic caps on each side of the hoses
Easy and simple
Hopefully this video helped
Great video! Stay dry.
SUPER!!
THANK U SO SO SO MUCH BLESS UR SOUL
Hey thank you for watching
Ty
Great video. I have to show this to my cousin who doesn't know s@!t about fixing anything. I'm sure this will definitely help him out!!!
Awesome Anthony I’m glad you enjoyed this video m. Hope this helps out your cousin
Does this also work with PCV quick connectors?
appreciate this explaination. why didn't they just design a hose clamp on the damn thing?
The heater core connection the hoses attach to is soft aluminum a hose clamp would crush it or leak, the dealership is hoping you're not wanting to fool with it and take it to them, mine failed when my truck was 2 years old, the dealer wanted $60, not mentioning names but a local Irish parts shop had a pair them for $14. My replacement failed today after 15 years.
Another reason that plastic connectors are cheap and assembly time is not.
because they want you to take it to a dealer and pay through the nose for a simple job.
Many thanks!
What if the metal part on top came off with the hose not the coupler? Can you just break it off
hey Oz ........... no hagas eso, apagar tu cigarro en la mano. eres un buen tipo
@UCIdDHXjhnNn5oslVLM4tQsA what can you do if the connector is broken? ive tried looking for the part number.
What size is the tool ?
im having (engine hot AC off) 2009 4.8 silverado i changed the thermostat and tuned the car Changed the sensor as well and still have the issue anyone with more info would be appreciated
the one on a 1997 chevy tahoe has a goose neck. mine has broken 2 times from corrosion in 180,000 miles. I think dexcool causes corrosion. I stopped using it.
Drews Quick Fixes Ideas And Hacks yea I’m not a big fan of dexcool i stay away from that coolant
Thanks Great video! My 97 GMC Suburban is leaking from the rear heater core connector. But the connector looks different than then front. Is there a tool to remove the rear connectors? Can you provide a link? Thanks again.
Im in the same boat. those connectors are slightly different, from what I recall I just had to twist them but now I can't get them back on
@@plance1 Go to the help section at your local auto parts store. You will find plastic ones. You will have to cut the hoses and use clamps to secure it. My leak was in the back so I just by passed it. No heat fo the back now. But I will return to it and fix it for next winter.
What that name to make order
oh em gee thank you for this up close video ive been going nuts trying to get that hose off and it isnt budging the otehr omne comes off easy but this one wont move so ill giv eit another shot later or tomorrow and see what happens..i just want to flush my heater core i get no heat out the driver side vents..this is close upa nd i see exactyl where to push and what one to use this guy must be canadian for those clips and his video
well he said yall so probably soemwhere in the south USA but this is a good detailed explanation
Did you have a problem getting the left hose off?
I always start off removing the right one first to give me space to get to the left
Would this cause it to leak inside the truck? I was driving one morning and got a lot of coolant thru the vents, so I immediately pulled over to bypass the core. When I touched the first hose the quick connect broke off. It was spring, so I just bypassed it. I'm thinking maybe the connector was leaking and somehow water got inside the truck from that
Eduardo Santacruz maybe you have a bad heater core
@@OzMechanics maybe. I will try to reconnect it with new quick connects and see if it leaks inside
I took my Quick Connect off and put a brass fitting in. No problem.
Good job... I needed that. I'm doing it now. But i dropped the damn 3/4 connector tool putting it on and now I can't find it🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬... it's somewhere on top of transmission
Darn. Yea some get really hard to take off
What’s the name of that tool or part #??
I damaged the heater core. The first 3/4" quick disconnect tool i bought was not deep enough to release the connector.I bought a deeper one and it came right off.But now with the damage, even though it is slight,i cannot get the new connector on.So now it is sell the truck time i guess.
youre going to be ok. just take off the old quick connect and get you a clamp and go straight in with the hose
Thanks.I was going to try that.Glad to hear that someone else has done it and it works!I am sure a lot of people have done this the more i think about it.
Ron Anthony yea I've done it a couple of times. And customers vehicle is still kickin
Thanks so much!Good to hear that.Would you recommend the stock clamp?Or a hose clamp?Or another type for the best seal?
Ron Anthony I've used hose clamps with no issues. Hope this works for you
Can I just close the hoses permenetly
Orie Jones If you mean. Not using the heater core anymore. Yes
Yes if you never ever need heat or hot defrost go for it. Oh and never plan to sell the car.
Do you have to drain anything to do this? i.e. do you have to drain the coolant?
Mark Huber just a bit
So, drain it from the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator or just let it out when I remove the hose? A mechanic I'm not...LOL! Thanks for the video and responding to the question!
Mark Huber I am getting ready to do mine today. I don't think you need to bother with draining any coolant, I figure it will take care if that by itself when I remove the hose. Probably only about a quart or so.
