Everyone of those I've ever seen had excess headspace from bolt lug setback of the receiver locking lugs. Not really a 7.62 NATO, was designed for the 7.62 CETME.
The CETME round was a 125grain bullet. A diet of standard NATO round will propel the bolt lugs into the receiver with such force it stretches the receiver. I had one scrapped because of this.
I bought some real nice Leather handled M1 carbine bayonets,and Leather handled M3 trench knives for about $40. Bucks each. Real nice ,but they each took about a month to get.🏆
The sights are pretty crude and cheap. Too light for its own good. It bruises your shoulder even after 50 shots. The bolt can get pretty type after a couple of reloads. And despite all that, it's a nice collector piece and toughens soldiers for the more pleasant CETME rifle.
7.62 NATO can be higher pressure than commercial, the fr-7 and fr-8 were designed to be shot with 7.62 CETME ammo, about like 308 savage pressures. It takes time but a steady diet of hp loads can cause bolt setback in those guns. When that happens it becomes hard to open the bolt I know this from first hand experience about 20+ years ago. But if you shoot don’t shoot it much should be ok.
Good video Rusty! I just started watching your videos! Ive got the FR8 and want the FR7. How much was it from hunters Lodge and how long did you have to wait to get it I'm trying to call him multiple times with a phone and I can't get a hold to anybody. I'd appreciate your help Thanks man
Bobby Ya there hard to get a hold of.. When i call i call in the afternoon and JAMES will answerer .MAYBE. Now the best thing to do is Email them and ask how much for the rifle and how much shipping.. no tax when ordering from them. they will email you back and give you a $number. also tell them you want a hand select Its like $20 more and hope for the best. you know maybe say can you pick one out that has a sling, or nice wood ect. I think mine was $400 and it had some pitting on the front of the barrel but the rest was nice/ OK. I just ordered a CZ 27 pistol from them and it was 3 weeks ago, they are slow there. Do you have a C&R ? if not you need to put your FFL address in the return with a check.. i use a postal money order.. its a bit faster. also they never give a tracking number.. so tell your FFL to call you when it shows up Put your phone number in you order and they put it on the box so the FFL can call you. I will say i have got some good deal from them and the price is right. If you do talk to JAMES always write on your order ATT. JAMES that helps a little bit. Midwestern howdy.. It was about 6 weeks. I had to call them a few times to get the TRACKING #. Cant be in a hurry with them all three rifles i have got from them.. i got the TRACKING # the day it showed up at my FFL. There shipping is from the USPS witch costs a lot more than FEDX. Hi b9b That FR-7 was $450.00 and the sling was $14.00 and the bayonet was $40.00 then $30.00 transfer and then they really stick ya for shipping $55.00.. $584.00 total. You know Hunters Lodge uses the USPS for there shipping witch is really expensive, and the package gets beat to hell as you can see in the first part of the video. All and all i am happy with that FR-7 it is a great shooter and its a carbine. THANKS for watching and i subed ya too.
Nice video, I've been wondering about these rifles. Thinking of getting one of their Model 1950 Brazilian Mausers in 30-06. PB Blaster may work on that screw.

@@RUSTYSURPLUS so I called and spoke with James, he said they had M1950s, M954s, and a Colombian Federal Police I think, I requested a M1950 marked one on accout of the M954s being re-barreled conversions in Brazil. Additionally the M1950 ones are supposed to be made by FN in the 30-06 configuration from the factory. He said he picked me out a really nice one, order was dropped in the mail yesterday, he said since I was so close he'd try to expedite it, we'll see what I get.

Put all your info Email your FFL your phone number. You have the phone # try that in the afternoon. As far as the shipping goes i would add about $45 per rifle and no tax. They ship via the USPS. From what i understand there upgrading every thing over there. When i order from them i am not in a hurry.. i think it takes at lest 3 weeks. Also tell your FFL to call you when a box marked Hunters Lodge arrives. I have talked to JAMES over there and he is short handed and no one wants to work any more. There in TN. It will happen for you.. just seems like it takes some time. What are you gonna get ? If you do get James on the phone he is a good guy.

I have an FR8 and a Mosin Nagant M44. They both have some kick to them. I bought them thirty years ago, and I love ‘em. Thanks for showing.

Not really. The gun was actually designed for a CETME round. Much lower pressure.

Don’t recommend shooting commercial 308, as it is a small ring Mauser. Low power reloads work well.

The metallurgy on he FR7’s are considered weaker than the FR8’s. Be careful on the ammo you use!
