Hearing you say that you're gonna use hot soapy. Water on the stock was the worst thing. I've ever heard anybody say why you do not use water on a Woodstock. Now I'll tell you why you will raise the grains of the wood and result in a lot more. Having to Sam the wood and on some of these German rifles, the mousers, particularly, they did an excellent job. Of fit and finish, and you don't have much room for sanding. Especially? On some of the curves where it meets the metal. It's already flush so if you end up having to send it a bunch to get out the damage you created by raising the grains of the wood. Now you will have a bad fit. Because the metal will be too high. The wood will be too low. So the best way to clean a stock like that is using mineral spirits in a tub. Let it soak for a while. And then clean it real thoroughly using a paintbrush. Then pull it out wiper down several times with fresh clean rags. You will have a nice clean stock. All the oils will be basically saturated out of it from the mineral spirits. And you won't damage the grain of the wood. Years ago I restored a rifle that nobody would dare touch even when I took it to a professional gun. Smith and had him look at it. He said I was a lunatic that that was unrestorable. Well, this lunatic not only restored it but it is in shooting condition. I actually shoot the gun and it is 1871 84 mauser. 11 mm and unfortunately, I have to make all my own ammunition for it is nobody makes it anymore, but that was the ultimate restoration and it's one of my best hunting rifles.

Glad to see a positive experience with Harrington Products. I have a couple of old CZ’s (models 50 and 52) that they make upgrade parts for but I wasn’t sure if Harrington was any good or not.

The sights are pretty crude and cheap. Too light for its own good. It bruises your shoulder even after 50 shots. The bolt can get pretty type after a couple of reloads. And despite all that, it's a nice collector piece and toughens soldiers for the more pleasant CETME rifle.

Don't shoot that surplus ammo in an Astra pistol. It's dirty and gums up the action. I found out the hard way.

It also shoots 38 ACP
