Crashing Sucks // Deer John to John Deer // Mt. Seymour, BC

- John Deer is one of the most popular trails on Mt. Seymour, and for good reason. It's constantly being refined by the builders, Martin Newman and Penny Deck, and offers a mix of fast, flowy singletrack, small jumps and a few optional stunts. I planned on doing two quick laps as a study break, but my second lap didn't go as planned. I carved too tight on a corner, lost the front wheel and went sliding a rock. While that sucked, the riding that preceded it was pretty fun.

The skinny gods demanded a sacrifice after there was no tech in this video. Still a great vid, healing vibes 🙌
Seems like there's almost always people blocking the trail.
This was pre-COVID too :p It's the most popular trail on the mountain and you just have to be prepared for lots of other riders out there enjoying themselves too.
@@ddangerousddave As long as everyone's vibing with each other it's fine!
Oooof, that was a rough looking crash. Good laps though! Also, holy hell that was a busy day on John Deer, I don't think I've ever seen it so bad.
And this was pre-covid...
The breathing on the timelapsed peddaling section was the funniest thing ive seen all day
Sounds like i need an ebike 😛
That was a killer run! bummed those people couldn't figure out how to get off the trail. I blame them for the crash...hope you are feeling 100% soon
I wish I could share the blame, but I was 100% at fault due to poor line choice and too much lean. It's a very popular trail that caters to a lot of riders so you just expect to see lots of people out for a ride too. That's why I usually stick to tech trails where you hardly see anyone :p
@@ddangerousddave You are a more humble man than I. Our camera angle we cannot see how you are leaning and feel the trail like you of course. Fun run to watch tho
These noobs can’t even comprehend when a dangerous Dave might appear
lol
Siiiiiick vid bro... shame about the crash, totally understandable given the distractions on trail but you were MOVIN MANNNNN 🤘🤘🤘
Dave u absolute psycho. AWESOME! Vid. Quality is amazing. Riding over the top. Your a way more patient person than me with all those people in the trail. Hope your all good after the crash. Can't wait for the next vid.
As much as I enjoy laying down a clean top-to-bottom run, it's a trail, not a race track so I don't get too fussed.
Did the same thing and spent 4 days in the hospital, 4 weeks for the ripped knee would to heal over, and torn ligaments and tendons and lots of rehab ahead - SO glad you were able to walk ok after a week! Can't wait to get back out there! Keep your videos coming as they keep me going! 😊👍
I’ve just discovered your channel and i got to say I’m in awe. I love the fact that your show your crashes just as a remainder that even a talented pro like you’re self can crash, so noops like is us are inspired to continue. Thank you and I’ll continue to watch all your vids
Dude you in “owe”?
Coulda swore it was “awe”...
@@fantom07ds.31 maybe. Haha. Sorry. English is my second language.
@@jurisx85 ohh. I just assumed it was a typo...sorry man
Ouch - that was some velocity... glad you're ok!
Glad your ok Dave. Get better soon.
Oh no dan you ok I screamed in my room. When it happened. And come on people don't stand in middle of trail. Praying for a fast recovery for you.
I'm all good, thanks! This was from 2019 and luckily I wasn't out too long.
Oof, glad you're not too badly injured. Btw you are VERY polite to those riders stopped in the middle of the trail just around blind corners, are you running Saints? ;) #saintly
Yeah they are just fat chilling in the trail🤦🏿♂️ and even when he pulls up behind them they still don't see a problem being in the middle of the trail🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
I give people the benefit of the doubt and assume they're new to the sport or the trail. The ones in the middle of the trail may have crashed or walked that section and were just getting back on their bikes for all I know. The trails are for all levels and if the worst thing that happens to me is having to slow down for a few seconds then such is life. Plus you never know when you're gonna crash so might as well be polite to those that may come upon your body strewn across the trail.
And no to Saints :p While I LOVE the ergonomics of Shimano brake levers, I prefer the overall feel and modulation of Codes.
I respect these thoughts Dave. I’m new myself and stop lots on the - for me - more difficult trails. That said, I do my best to move to the side. But you are right, you never know the circumstances (but if I were you, I’d probably still curse under my breath).
No fun there. But after all you are ddangerous ddave... Get well soon!
I like how that one chick was just standing in the middle of the trail and said go ahead but didn't move a muscle😂🤦♂️
Damn man. Sorry to hear you messed your knee up. Hope recovery goes quick. That was a rough impact at that speed.
I'm just happy I didn't hit my head too hard!
I only just started watching you, and when I saw the title I was like what the, Dangerous Dave crashed! but it's nice to know that pro's crash as well, not just beginners like me.
Ride safe bud enjoying all your videos🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Glad to hear, thanks!
What are the chances that my UA-cam feed has the Loam Wolf reviewing knee pads right above your video?
Ha ... Glad you came out alright.
Thanks for the great content!
Social media is just a ploy to get you to buy more stuff :p
Glad you are ok
Thanks Stan!
I get that this is probably not an appropriate question to ask, but does anybody know what his worst injury was since starting this sport?
I know this is a fairly old video, but how do you deal with lost confidence when crashing? I find that, even if I'm minimally/non-injured by a crash, it takes me a good while to build up the confidence to actually push on the bike again. I know that I have the ability to ride harder, but lack the confidence to actually do so.
Hope alls good man
I was back on the bike after 2 weeks or so with no lasting effects!
Never ridden Seymour b4 and just wondering how u got to that trail? Which parking lot do u park at? What climbing trail did u take for ur first and second lap? Any advice u have would be much appreciated
I love the trail but it is turning into the bobsled of Seymour. I am almost always catching up to people.
You can never gap the rollers or the doubles because there is always people stopped in the middle of the trail! At least we still have boogie nights
@@hazza788 Yea but I have had hikers with dogs I almost ran over coming off the step down on boogie nights and all the people walking there bike up back up the trail.
That rider parked in the middle of the trail seemed annoyed that you were in their way. How rude!
Yeah crashing sucks! I just got back from a shoulder injury 😢 from now on I will be gearing for the crash not for the ride 🤣😂
No more yellow bike crew this year ?!?!
Just clearing this Range footage out from 2019 😛. Yellow Sight Club will live on for 2021.
@6:32 How did that guy get passed you and when?! He was the same guy at the top...
Did you mean to put another time? 6:32 is just me moaning in pain at the end lol.
@@ddangerousddave lolz oops... @2:16 it's the same guy from the start of lower JD.
Looks like a lot of Covid refugees out on the trail that day... Sunday was it?
This was 2019! Can only imagine what it's like these days lol.
