MX5Things ND RF Roof Controller Installation

- The RF top is gorgeous and easy, but the functionality could be better. Of course, what works for one person may not be great for the next, so ideally it could be customized to what each person wants. Fortunately, this RF roof controller from MX5things solves those problems and more! Join Kyle Tigar as he shows the step by step installation of the RF roof control module in a 2019 ND.
MX5Things ND RF Roof Controller:

Features:
• One-touch top - raise or lower your top with a single button push, no more holding the button down until it's done.
• Invert switch logic - does it seem like the controls are backward from what they should be? Same here. Another easy fix with this module.
• Raise or lower the top while driving - no more 6 mph (10 kph) limit, it can now be up to 30 mph (50 kph).
• Reverse override - move the top while in reverse.
• Valet mode - turn the module off with an easy key sequence.

The algorithm is working for you my friend. I don't own a Miata, I don't know someone who owns one. I don't think someone even owns a Mazda vehicle in my city. And yet we're here. Cheers.
Thanks for visiting and commenting! Let us know if you happen to get a Miata in the future :)
If I ever get one I will know how to fix it thx to you guys :)
I bought it!!! Only a question: can i use the usb camble coming up from the roof controller for giving power to a cabin ledx light or for charging my phone?
Hmm. Good question! As long as you're not overdrawing the circuit, I don't know what it would hurt. However, we've never tried it either.
After install is there a way to pause the raising or lowering of the roof? Say to inspect and clean the rain gutters once a year? Or do you have to remove it to revert to OEM function.
Yes, you'll still be able to pause the movement like stock!
Type in the description " RF Roog Controller". pretty sure it's not a roog...... ;-)
Wait is that all it does? I was hoping for a remote operation
Remote operation is possible with this controller AND our ACC/IG controller (flyinmiata.com/products/mx5things-acc-ig-power-controller?_pos=1&_psq=acc%2Fig&_ss=e&_v=1.0) installed.
Great video I have installed the acc and roof controller today the only thing I have an issue with is when using the fob to put the roof up the windows don’t go back up the 1-2inch they drop this is normal ?
Thanks for the help
@samanthajohnson-doel5194 It will be easier for us to assist you with this if you can contact our Support Team directly - you can email them at support@flyinmiata.com, or call in at 970 464 5600. We look forward to hearing from you!
Is it possible to convert between ST and RF for bad winter climates? Are all parts bolt on? Could this controller be added to a ST car to control a factory RF top?
Not that we are aware of. The RF roof and components are very extensive, with many body panels and interior components that don't swap between the two. If you want an RF, we suggest buying the RF or buying an aftermarket hard top for the soft top ND.
@@FlyinMiataVideo Thanks for the quick reply, really appreciate it. Just trying to plan for the rainy season in Oregon.
@@FlyinMiataVideo Greetings, how can I look for a hard top? I have searched on the internet but I don't see that they sell for ISport ND 2017-2018 models. Maybe I am not doing the search correctly, my native language is Spanish.
just got this kit in for my '17 ND RF and when I press Connect in the programming step, it says "Could not find COM port connection with device" just right of the drop down. tried multiple USB ports, restarting the PC, and every time I get the same thing. A red light also appears on the device when I plug it in and I could not tell in this video if that's supposed to happen. any help you could provide would be appreciated. thanks!
Sorry to hear that! Please send an email to our CS team (support@flyinmiata.com), and we'll try to provide an in-depth answer.
Hello. What about the Miata 2024 ? Am looking for roof controller for 2024. Help!!
Thanks for sharing this information. Regards
The roof controller will almost definitely work with the 2024, but we have not had the chance to test it yet.
Do you send it to Italy ?
I have a 2020 RF GT. My harness just came, and after installation, it doesn't respond to the three clicks. HELP, please??? when i plug in the module to the i do not see com 8, com 3 was the only option i have available.
So sorry for the hassles. These can be a little finicky at times. Please reach out to our customer support team directly, they'll be more than happy to help you trouble shoot the issue.
So on a RHD car (from the UK) all the panels will be on the other side - i.e. always behind the drivers seat? Thanks
We don't have access to any RHD cars to compare.
Thanks. I will try and and report back!
Did you ever install the roof controller? If so what seat was it behind on a RHD car?
Passenger side for uk
Mine says rf roof malfunction why????????
If you did not follow the installation instructions and set-up specifically, you can get malfunction codes. If you are still having issues, give us a call. Our customer support team can be of some help.

@@FlyinMiataVideo do you send it to Italy too?
All this stuff for not having to keep one finger on the switch...I admit that is way more ergonomic but I guess there is a reason why the Japanese engineers have done it in that way.
I wouldn't change it but why not in the end...
This was an installation video only, so we didn't go into the features and benefits of why someone might want to install these in their car. Check the links to view the product pages on our site for full details about how you can use these to change the behavior and program the functionality of the car. :)
@@FlyinMiataVideoI was just thinking the benefit of doing all this VS the risk of damaging plastics when installing the system. It looks pretty simple but still something may happen. Thanks for your reply and keep making nice videos. I have a Miata NA 1992 and always eager to see new stuff. Greetings from Belgium!
This modification allows you to control the top wirelessly from the key fob, too (if you have the ACC/ON harness under the steering wheel).
