I think you are forgetting that this is for noobs... Hobbit and LOTRO is not for noobs into the fantasy world. Unless you wanna kick them out. Its a rough series, very detailed, and is HIGH Fantasy. Its a great series, but not if you are just entering the world of fantasy. You wanna start with something easy, and work up to Hobbit...

Harry Potter doesn't encourage witchcraft in a satanic way. Its simply children who were born with the power to use a wand and do awesome stuff with it when they say big, hard-to-pronounce words XD The lessons that are taught throughout the series about friendship and love make it worth the read. There is nothing satanic about the series at all (except for Voldemort and the Deatheaters, but they're the bad guys, so, duh). Maybe your mom could read the synopsis on the back of the book or on Wikipedia??? I hope this helped a little! :)

I loved this video! So funny and well done as usual! I was just slightly disappointed that you did not recommend any adult fantasy or real "high" or "epic" fantasy. I mean the Hobbit: a huge classic turned into a movie and originally a children's book, how was it not even mentionned? And things like "The Lies of Locke Lamora" by Scott Lynch or "Elantris"/"Warbreaker"/"The Mistborn trilogy" by Brandon Sanderson are incredibly easy to get into even for Fantasy Noobs! I mean I absolutely love all the books you talked about in this video, don't get me wrong, but they're just the same book that are talked about on booktube over and over again and it would've been nice to see a little more diversity in my opinion. Love you though Christine!

Also: Patrick Rothfuss is amazing (if you don't mind waiting yeeeaaaaarssss for a book...).

For me it was really easy to get into Daughter of Smoke and Bone, it had me hooked immediately. I still need to read second and third book, I'm very excited!
I am stuck in the middle of City of Ashes and I really don't know if I'm going to finish the series. So far I haven't been blown away. Apparently you really need some time to get into it. But I would very much like to read The Infernal Devices, because I like the world of TMI, but I'm not that fascinated with the story. Also the time period of TID is much more intriguing to me.
I like this recommendation videos very much, I hope to see more!

    You're so right
At first I was really bored reading City of bones and I started it about 2-3 times, but now I'm obsessed. I really love the characters and the story. The sad thing was that I started and finished first The Mortal Instruments series and at the end of COHF I was really confused who Jem And Tessa were. But now I have also read The Infernal Devices and it's my favourite series ever. I'm planning to read COHF again now that I've read TID - I'm really excited about enjoying it to the fullest. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have even known about TID so a huge THANK YOU.

My number one recommendation for getting into fantasy is a series you Americans only have the first three books of and the American covers are horrible and will put you off the books but goddamnit if Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy isn't the most epic, hilarious, and heartbreaking series of all time. It's really easy to get into and its got crime, mystery and horror aspects. It's about a girl called Stephanie who's uncle Gordon was a fantasy writer who recently died and she learns about this whole underground (as in hidden) magical world. It's a fascinating series and its main theme is moral ambiguity and people doing bad stuff for good reasons (well, except the evil people who are just evil). It's not black and white, Stephanie isn't always a good person and Skulduggery is, in the words of Melancholia St. Clair "a dark, dark man."
It's epic, the comedy is hilarious, the horror can get insanely creepy/messed up (Jitter Girls anyone who's read it?) and the characters are wonderful. I assure you, it is well worth extra money to have it imported from Britain. I mean, Derek wants to re-release it in America after the movie but it's been a year since the movie was announced and there's still no news so I wouldn't wait.

I want to read Sarah J. Maas, but the silliest thing puts me off, the first cover - looks a little dull - and then the second, looks a little ...I don't know how to phrase it, it just doesn't look like my kind of book even though I love fantasy. I need to give them a try, I just do ...I need to get a grip!
I MASSIVELY want to read the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy, but our UK covers are SO dull in comparison to these beauties, so I'm gonna see if I can get my hands on those covers instead :)

I'm so fussy, because I don't like either. The first one looks way too girly, and non fantasy. And the second one looks like some...ps3 game or something? Im so weird haha. But yeah. I'll read them eventually.
Just realised I have Daughter of Smoke and Bone on my kindle and it's been there a year?! Haha. I'll read it on that, and then if i like it (which, im sure I will!!) Ill buy the three in PRETTY physical book form haha.
