Let this victory serve as inspiration for complainers everywhere.
This year UA-cam decided to wish me a happy Halloween by completely demolishing my latest video with no specific explanation. I didn't realize fictional horror movies were an issue on this site until now. In a vacuum it sort of makes sense; R-rated movies are somewhat equivalent to an age-restricted UA-cam video, but given the dozens of other reviews of The Thing which already subsist on the platform without issue, I assumed that I would be in the clear. When I posted it, the video was initially approved for all ads with no copyright violations. I just wish UA-cam's systems were more consistent. The platform's seeming unwillingness to be transparent with its reasoning and enforcement has created a culture of fear and paranoia for any channel who wants to upload anything more complex than preschool playtime for babies.

As someone who has studied history this statement couldn't be more true. One nation beats up another that was crippled cuz some guy was backstabbed only to have it happen to them. People rarely take a step back and look at it from a logical standpoint. For example, having UA-cam Kids but still limiting the adult version. Just use the other platform and don't ruin this one. I mean money wise you're gonna make more if your platform has everything from nursery rhymes to pornography. Just make some stuff require accounts. For larger content creators employ some bozos to review shit to judge it instead of a bot or improve the bots.

I uploaded an unlisted 20 second clip of me putting a cassette into my tape deck for my friends on discord. The clip a year later was then hit as 18+, and after the appeal they still kept the 18+ restriction.

I like how nobody is talking about Emp uploading to Storyfire. almost all of the content creators and viewers are already exclusively on youtube, i would much rather youtube become somewhat competent then switching to a niche competitor with 0.1% of the userbase. besides, while a competitor may appear be more stable with having actually competent content policies, it's much less stable financially because it isn't backed by a massive corporation. even if a competitor gained traction, it's really just trading one problem for another i feel.

Returning to the earlier point about false positives, the FBI terrorism watchlist and similar government terrorism lists are a fucking joke. The FBI are themselves basically federal cops, which necessarily makes them potential political enemies of a movement like BLM and motivated to use any tools at their disposal to artificially discredit, criminalize, and demonize that movement.
This is why the FBI would want to cast a wide net to scare white and politically conservative people to turn them against ultimately just causes like the movement for Black lives and other people's movements. Such lists also provide pretext to monitor and surveil even the tamest political groups outside the liberal political mainstream, including completely nonviolent liberals for daring to question the bad behavior of even a few bad apples among the police. This is transparently a divide-and-conquer tactic to turn otherwise potentially sympathetic people who might have a common cause on other issues (especially economic issues!) against anyone using the BLM slogan.

The same thing happened to me aswell Emp. UA-cam is REALLY cranking down on their "violence" policy. And they said so in emails that it would start September 22th of this year. However since i'm the little guy I can't appeal anything.

In plain english they're using another scan bot that'll take down any "violence" they see in videos. I really found “Horror in Isolation” to be informative, thematic, and insightful. There’s a lot one can take away from the video. It’s so frustrating UA-cam rejects content like this, without rhyme or reason.

Hey Emp, software engineer here. From a developer's business/legal standpoint, it doesn't make sense to add a creator to a whitelist after being manually reviewed, especially if they upload a different video later. From a data analysis standpoint, a re-edited copy of the same video might as well be a completely different video, so if you upload an edited version of a manually reviewed video the algorithm has to re-evaluate it from scratch.
I agree that the blacklist is ridiculous, but just wanted to share the technical reason this happened to you.
I've heard that there are third party services which can scan your video, beforehand and give you a percentage chance of it being safe for YT upload. Its the equivalent of submitting an assignment in UNI and getting a free Plagiarism scan, before submitting it and tripping alarm bells.

@@pickyphysicsstudent201 Sounds like an expensive process if it's automated - processing still images is fairly fast, but processing video to find things that would violate the TOS is much more intense for computers.

I think you misunderstood what he said. Correct me if I'm wrong but what he really seemed to mean was that he was surprised the video he filed the appeal for wasn't added to some whitelist, which would make a whole lot more sense, as that sort of thing could just be metadata stored with each video on UA-cam's end.
If the bot flags something that it thinks is infringing in the video, then finds out later on that it's not, then it should keep a note internally that this particular thing is not a problem. The fact that it flags multiple videos by the exact same creator for the exact same thing, even after being told it's not infringing on anything, is pretty silly.
I love that i spend the days browsing my subscription tab and I still miss all the videos I'd actually like to see...

At times like this UA-cam's algorithms really do feel like their actions are just dictated by a random number generator. I cannot come up with any other explanation for how they can be *this* inconsistent.
We have an in Space D&D, or D&D in general. We have a good deal of roles made with advantage, and a few with disadvantage. There is a highly disproportionate amount of times that the roles are a nat 1 and a nat 20. Consistently inconsistent.
To quote Thanos, "Balanced as all things must [was it "should" instead?] be."
Except I guess in this case, it's more like double nat 1s, which has also happened a number of times.
UA-cam should either go all in on the "We just review things based on what we think on a case by case basis" and not even try to appear fair, or go all in on the "We use bots and very specific rules that detail exactly what you can and can't post". The current rules of "we just determine what the rules mean on a case by case basis" doesn't work on any level

When you showed AIDS being one of the words that could result in an auto take down UA-cam had a pop up show up that said “This information may not be supported” and I had to press Ok to get it to go away. I’ve literally never seen that before.
It is so frustrating seeing creators I like, like yourself, shackled by this ancient dinosaur of a platform stumbling around destroying everything it touches like a Godzilla on a three day bender. What's worse is when people worse in the Copyright Metagame get off scot-free, while UA-camrs who are being actually transformative with materials get punished. I've seen alot of channels which are just flat out reactions to content and showing full on clips of the, in question, original material, get a pass and in some cases, applauded by UA-cam, for their works.
