Who are your heroes? Do they stand up for what is right? Do they set an example of honesty and humanity and kindness? Or, are they only after power for powers sake?
Sam Harris, Coleman Hughes, Alex O‘Connnor are some of mine. I admire them for their ability to think and express themselves clearly. Also they place great value on virtues like honesty and kindness
It is bizarre seeing you recognize the basic value of Foucault and yet to fall for the common vilification of him. If you think there is objective justice and goodness, wouldn't analyzing power relations be useful to discern false notions of justice and goodness, those that have been imposed? If you believe in a specific idea of justice and goodness, wouldn't understanding power relations be useful to understand how to maintain an advantage over other competing conceptions of justice and goodness? Foucault doesn't offer an alternative to the phenomena he analyses and that is one angle from which a criticism of him can come, but it seems like quite a stretch to take possible criticism or disagreement that might arise here and to take it to the conclusion that Foucault is evil. And if he is evil for going beyond good and evil (so to say) then he is only a student of Nietzsche and that is the figure that deserves more attention. Yet people are more willing to look for value in Nietzsche than they are in Foucault.
i think power and goodness both r important with too much kindness, u become the exploitable 'nice' person u should conceal ur kindness power is important too it prevents ppl from exploiting ur kindness it helps u to fight against evil u cant put down a narcissistic machiavellian dictator just by speaking soft words u have to rebel aginst him real goodness doesnt mean simply being kind real goodness means to not go full machiavellian mode even if u have the ability to do so and instead do good stuff
I had the same thought, Michel Foucault and Thomas Riddle are very alike.
