I feel the previous generation 1260 Pikes Peak is sexier, but the new V4 Multistrada absolutely feels more refined, smoother, and a better bike overall, especially for long distance riding. Great video as usual.
Two questions I have…1 how does the suspension compare with the skyhook? Is it different enough concerning the quality of the ride and how the skyhook soaks up the imperfections in the road? 2 concerning ergonomics does the slightly higher position detract from the comfort for someone who might be 6’ tall? 3 Do you think the 19” wheel tames down the handling on the V4S too much? Think I would prefer the 17” as I have on my current MS. Great vid!
The prior model standard multi comes with a 17 inch front, so if you get a used s model you're getting a very similar package. They are all very capable of hardcore sport riding, and unless you are competing you don't need the extras on the pikes peak (though it's no doubt a very cool combination). A multi was the first thing I ever put my knee down on, just a standard S model.

There is no better engine than a 4 cylinder. The smooth perfect balance, and top end scream. And then you do almost 180 horsepower in a V4 configuration, and you have near Hayabusa levels of performance, with similar low end torque. People who have only ridden a V-Twin have no idea what a real engine feels like. A V-twin always feels like it's going to self destruct at higher RPM's, but a 4 cylinder gets smoother the higher you rev it. A 4 cylinder can be lugged really slow without shaking or chain lash, which is another massive benefit for slow speed driving.
Am I right no sky hook suspension on the pikes peak ? I’d rather save a bit of money and get the v4 rally with sky hook suspension & add an after market exhaust 😎
The Pikes Peak departs from normal Multi V4 convention in its use of Öhlins latest Smart 2.0 suspension, which is what they refer to as an “event-based” system. It’s the same stuff used in the Panigale V4 S and Streetfighter V4 S. The other Multis’ Skyhook dampers are constantly measuring suspension stroke and speed, but the Smart 2.0 fork and shock also rely more on the bike’s IMU to know when you’re accelerating hard or braking hard or whatever, to also inform the damping. Ducati says it “automatically adjusts the setting according to the user’s riding style… the more the rider pushes to the limit the suspensions get stiffer.” The Smart system provides 6.7 inches wheel travel, front and rear; the Skyhook on the other Multis gives 6.7/7.1 in.
