- I’m half-Filipino so my kids are a quarter-Filipino. In today’s episode of the Part Filipino Podcast, I’m interviewing my oldest daughter, Lucy, about her experience growing up ¼ Filipino.
We also discuss an Americanized version of the Filipino debut party we threw for her 18th birthday!

Thank you!
Our 16 year old granddaughter is very proud of her Filipino heritage. She has lots of Irish genes from both me and our daughter in law. That gives her milk-white skin and bright red hair. She complains that no one believes she is Asian.😂 when she was younger and out with her Lola everyone thought Mrs. Rick was her nanny. Or that she was kidnapped 😂❤

Hello Kabayan, I enjoyed your lovely chat podcast with your daughter. I laughed at the part where she met 2 filipino couple. I can understand why they think your daughter isn't one, simply because her features really look more of a caucasian ancerstry. 1 sub from England. The ginataang tapioca that was mentioned is a traditional dessert which we call it Bilo-bilo in Luzon, other big islands call it by other name. Usually served in fiestas, specially on all souls day in November.
Thanks so much!
What ever the color we have black or white it doesnt matter as long as we spread love, share love, and to love one another!
Well said!
Watching your video makes me proud as pinoy. The way your pretty daughter interact with you shows how you raise her as respectful & good pinoy daughter.
Hoping you & your family will visit the Philippines & meet your roots here as well as enjoy what our culture can offer you.

Filipino isn't a race it's a nationality! The race of majority of Filipinos is Austronesian, some with European descent. In fact the Zobel de Ayala's, Aboitiz etc aren't of Austronesian descent BUT they're Filipinos! FYI
if you share "Filipino Values", you'd be accepted as full Filipino. We all are united in Values. One of the nicest people on earth.
Thank you!
Mabuhay po kayo, watching from Quezon City
I was born in Quezon City!
Being a Filipino is a choice more than anything else.
You proud being pilipino..
*PADAYON LANG*
She mentions Coco Samoa sounds like she is exposed to the Polynesian culture.
Polynesian culture is good to be around. Similar values .
But it's great that you both acknowledge your heritage.
Yes, my parents met at school in Hawaii, so we had a mix of US, Filipino, and Polynesian cultural connections in my household growing up.
Your daughter is so pretty and i like her personality. She's very outspoken and appreciative even though you guys don't know much about the culture. You guys didn't had to but still try to dig deeper through history.
Thank you! And we’re working on it!
I'm also 1/4 Filipino. Nice to meet another member of the club.
Hey bro, just hearing your daughter’s acknowledgment of her Filipino heritage and being proud of it is really heartwarming. Kudos to you and your wife for raising them in their bicultural lineage. Hoping you can visit your homeland soon. You are always welcome here.🙏❤️🇵🇭
We will are visiting in 2025!
@@PartFilipinoPodcast great to hear that!❤️🙏🇵🇭
To know best about being filipino. First, you must read the novel of rizal. Noli me tangere and El Filibusterismo.
I added it to my list of books.
Her being "part-Filipino" is more like being "half-Filipino" because she acknowledges them more than other "Real Pinoys" who were born in the US and some other parts of the continent. It's a big claim, but I have met a few of them. Good content. Thanks.
We are proud of our Filipino heritage over here!
You can clearly see the differences between pilipino’s and Japanese

No doubt, there's a Filipino blood in her like Mahinhin( modest, soft and chaste )attitude of an ordinary Filipina cute lady
Are you a former actor or celebrity here in the Philippines?
No, but a few people have commented that I look like a singer from there.
The thing about being Filipino is that it's never about blood. You don't need to have parents who are Filipino to consider yourself as Filipino. If you choose to be Filipino, then you ARE Filipino. Never about the blood, it's about YOU making the decision. The popular phrase is "Pusong Pinoy" not "Dugong Pinoy".
Thank you. I like that message.
You look like a famous singer here in Ph, he's name is "Mitoy Yonting" keep on vlogging 😎

Hello, Kabayanihan.
I can easily evaluate the Pilipino roots of your daughter through her facial feature, antics, mannerism and smiles, even if I may see her anywhere else.
Be exceedingly glad, you belong to the holy people of the Living God...

I love the message from this channel.. i subscribed just now. Btw, The ube picture shown is not really ube. It is Okinawan purple potato. Outside of the Philippines, some sellers call the purple potato as purple yam.. not correct as both of these rootcrops are totally different.. yam is simply not a potato
I did not know the distinction on ube. Good to know!

Wow 😳 your tinikling is good I'm a pure blood Filipino and sometimes I can't even cross the bamboo when I'm trying to dance that 😢😢😢
You guys have a roots that you can be proud of..Lahing Kayumanggi in tagalog...proud customs, traditions and values
There's no such thing as "part Filipino", let me explain. If it's in your heart that you are Filipino and you uphold our culture and our values, then you are a Filipino... PERIOD. My adopted sister is literally white with no Filipino blood. But she speaks Tagalog, she eats Filipino food like no other (especially sinigang and kare kare), she knows how to bless and respect her elders. Honestly, she is more Filipino than some Filipinos I know.
Once again, kung nasa puso at ugali mo ang pagiging isang Pilipino, walang "part Filipino" sayo. Filipino ka!
Have you seen the PANDANGGO SA ILAW it is also a cultural Filipino dance.
What a beautiful family you guys, just be Proud of your Filipino Heritage..Come and visit The Philippines to experience the beauty of Our Country
He's half Filipino-American
I guess my wife and I are Bad Filipinos and our kid is unaware Bad Filipino? But when I’m at family gatherings, I’m full Pinoy!
Stop quantifying yourself, if you’re proud of your heritage then just say you’re Filipino. Be proud to be pinay if that’s what you want
You guys should encourage more Filipino heritage (if you have any) screw the stereotypes. Only time Filipino's kindda went out of the woodwork is when Manny Pacquiao became a world famous Champion.
I really didn't identify as anything until I went to the Philippines and lived there for a few years and learned some of the languages and was immersed in the culture. I came to understand my mother much more. I'm proud to tell people I'm half now even if my Caucasian side is pretty strong presenting. But I love to surprise filipinos by speaking fluent Tagalog or Ilocano because it blows their mind. Mabuhay ang Filipino, saan man tayo dapat ipagmalaki ang lahi at kultura natin!
You should try learning the language too. It will be amusing to see the surprise from your Filipino friends faces if you talk in Tagalog.😊🇵🇭
Part pinoy 1/4 man your PINOY ALREADY anyway cocoa samoa is a Hawaiian term for CHAMPORADO oooh your a return missionary child that’s cool

there are filipinos who don't look like filipino because there are actually filipinos that have european features. the spaniards mentioned it that a lot of natives in manila would pass as europeans. it was america that made the narrative that filipinos were black and that we wanted to be white. we were taught that our diversity comes from the colonizers but it is not true.
Im filipino I leave here in Louisiana

Thank you for watching!
That's cool she's part Filipino, that's great 👍😃😊,i love Americans, but I'm not sure im cool, because im still humble 😊
Humble is cool!
I don't buy the idea of being part Filipino because as far as legal is concerned you are filipino; thus, your daughter is a filipino as well, that is what the constitution say, and I assumed you were born under the 1973 constitution. Nonetheless, being Filipino is more than being politically belong to a community; it is the culture that defines who really you are. In the Philippines, there are a lot of Koreans who were born, or came here at very young age who studied and grew up here, and you get amazed for seeing them Filipinos by culture; they speak filipino and other regional language, and they talk and behave like us expression-wise. The Filipino culture of being hospitable, welcoming, and kind is the highest kind of human culture in this planet. I'm also a malay, spanish, american by blood, but being born and grew up in this part of this planet, I'm more of Flipino by culture. Anyway, I tip my hat off to your daughter for being open minded person; she has two countries that share same political and religious values to claim. There are a lot of Americans and other foreign who love staying here; it's a testament to the greatness of Filipino culture.
I 100% agree that the Filipino culture has so many great qualities!
I quarter filipino, quarter korean, Irish and Norwegian.. Ive definitely had many a identity crisis at times lol
The mixed life! 😂
IMO is that Pinoys posseses the unique attitudes that can blend with other cultures around the world for us being respectful to other beliefs, cultures and opinions and we strongly beleives respect begets respect regardless of race, color and creed.
