Taking a Look at Filipino things in My House
I’m half-Filipino and was raised mostly American. I thought it might be interesting to show you what Filipino stuff I have in my household. But then I also thought it would be interesting to see what people online think is stuff that you might find in a Filipino household.
So I'm taking a look at what you might find in other Filipino household and showing you what Filipino stuff I have in mine.
What good stuff am I missing?

I've seen a wide range of comments on what makes a person a "Filipino." Some say it is citizenship along with knowing the culture and language. Others say it is the "one-drop rule" as long as you have at least one drop of Filipino blood, you are Filipino. Others say it is something in between. In my view, part of the disparity in these types of comments comes from the difficulty associated with...

I once Googled "Do I count as Filipino?" (well, actually I had a typo and Googled "Do I count as Filipion"). I was surprised to find that many people were asking this same type of question, but without the typo. So in this episode of the Part Filipino Podcast, I am looking at some of these questions from Reddit and the responses. #filipino #filipinoamerican #filam #philippines #mixedrace #filip...

Ancestry is generally more accurate when it comes to dna testing
Filipino-American from Honolulu, Hawaii USA. There's a BYU campus in Laiea, Hawaii(Oahu)😊👍

She’s more like Hailee Steinfeld. She’s also proud part Filipino.
HONESTLY, U DONT ADD ALL. WUT EVER THE HIGHEST % THAT SHOULD BE THE RESULT. CUS UR NOT LOOKSLIKE FILIPINO AND JUST SMALL % AS I SAID 25%. IM RIGHT CLOSE TO 23%.
REAL TALK... 25 FIL.
Here in the Philippines, for the most part, it doesn't matter if you are half, full or part, you are Filipino. That is why we embrace Bruno Mars, Olivia Rodrigo and other artists who have some Filipino blood. That half-Filipino or part Filipino I think more of a thing in America. That is just my opinion.
Haller 1/4 Kabayan, your content is very interesting and I enjoyed the fun story about your daughter on the Pinoy culture...your new 100% Filipino in Toronto.
the truth is people around the world has filipino origin. if you know adam and eve from the holy scripture, well both of them are filipinos
My Addition was 54 % = 23 T 13 T 8
I love that your family are doing this together in that one room. Very Filipino. My son is Full Filipino but on your description, Good Filipino? He is born here in the US but showed him Filipino culture and he is brought up with Filipino values even if he cant speak Tagalog. Also, I suggest watching the 3 episode of “The Filipino Story” here in YT. If you find yourself a bit on those 3 videos, then you may pinpoint in your life the “invisibly Filipino” in you. Cheers
I'm glad to know that your daughter is proud of her Filipino heritage. Hope the whole family visits the Philippines soon and renews ties with Filipino relatives! God bless!
Had to skip and finally not watch due to motion sickness from her swaying back and forth.
One rule of thumb in pronouncing/reading Tagalog or Filipino word is to syllabicate the word. Example- Sam pa look . Prounounce all the syllables. Group the syllables by a combination of consonants and vowels together and there are no long vowels.
Cocoa Samoa???? It's champurado!
At the end of the day your a halo halo all mixed up
That Filipino knife.was really cool
so does anyone know which one has more reliable results????
That’s a good question. I wish I knew the answer…
Great vid! A lot of good points from other people but one thing they do not understand, esp. with "quantifying" is that we did not come out of the womb automatically quantifying ourselves, but rather OTHERS have. People find it a bit more tolerable if they can understand more about your background. And if this means that you are not just Filipino or grew up in that culture, then comes that classification no matter how you define yourself. I know that I am 1/2 Filipino, but the issues of NOT identifying myself as such, is that people will ASSume I speak THEIR language when my paternal grandparents did NOT speak Tagalog NOR did they speak the same language from each other. I DO NOT come from the Philippines. I DO NOT look WHITE features. lol The list goes on! NO matter how we define ourselves or even to the extent of EXPLAINING our heritage (I grew up doing this) people still will have a hard time accepting it, no matter what it is. SOMEONE will not like what we are or choose to identify ourselves.
So with the people of the Cordilleras were not in History Book. what was written about Cordillerans -theywere Barbaric.
I am Myra Grace Sollesta-Golmayo. My grandfather is Martin Sollesta Sr. The First mayor of New Lucena. He is the Borther of Delores Sollesta De Rama. My late dad iwas Martin Sollesta Jr. Your mom and my dad are basically first cousins. 😊
I sent your message to my mom as well. If you'd be interested in connecting, we'd be very interested to connect with you as well! My email is leland@partfilipino.com. I actually think that I have Delores' nose.

SEPHARDI means “SPANISH” or “HISPANIC” derived from SEPHARAD(Hebrew & Tiberian Biblical Location - Spain) IBERIAN PENINSULA - The western most outpost of Phoenician(Mixed Hebrew & Canaanite Descent) Maritime Trade. King Hiram/Haram(Mixed Hebrew & Phoenician/Canaanite Descents) of Tyre, … the official Navy of King Solomon - “son of King David.” Read Book of I King Chapter 5 (KJV),📚✅👀
I think that's better than saying someone you're not. Just like those guys who likes to pretend. Be real to yourself. You can say part filipino or just filipino. Either way it's fine. Filipinos just welcome everyone who's related or have a connection with pinoy stuff. Even those non-filipino guys who loves filipino culture may be treated as filipino (well kinda). They usually called Pusong Pinoy.
Proud to have Filipino blood.❤
This is so American :))
I’m American! 🇺🇸 so I guess that makes sense 😂
There's no issue about being half filipino. What issue might be is if you hate being half filipino.
Yes, I have seen some people are ashamed of it and that’s unfortunate.
Filipinos are so family-oriented and have very strong bayanihan in our culture. It does not matter how many part Filipino blood you are, as long you have a little drop of Filipino in you, you are Filipino! End of the story! Mabuhay kababayan!
Nothing wrong with that you are half Pilipino u have to be proud of it
Sure, if people ask, tell them you're half-pinoy. But if you start running up on everyone to enthusiastically declare your newfound passion, the way vegans do, the men in white coats might come to have a little chat with you. "Yo, relax sir. Everything is a-okay. We just really want to be your friends. Look, we even have this free jacket for you. We just want to talk man..."
😂 well said
Are we going to listen to Bi racial identity until the turn of the Century. Half Human Half Simian is what I want to see.
I'm am a proud italiano. Half ita, half ilocano ! 🇵🇭
(1) Racial profile. With the broader racial spectrum among people (Asian-looking Europeans or European-looking Asians) saying someone being half in the racial point of view will be challenging. (2) Nationality point of view. It could be a clearer paradigm because one could say I am or American or Filipino, or both but not half. (3) Linguistic point of view. One will have a dominant parent culture over the other, depending on the place where you grew up. Language can be the gauge of identity as well. For me I would latch into identity rather than looks.
Nah, its good to tell people youre half and half. When they ask they are usually curious about your DNA because you look different, so its the truth. When youre travelling all over Asia, its important for Asians to know that you are not fully foreign to them. When they hear you are half Asian, even if its not their kind, you will get more social opportunities. AND you will probably get more social opportunities than native born Filipinos. Now, in the Philippines, sure, if you have good manners, sociable, and eat the real food, you will be considered Filipino. Mixed doesnt matter. But on a global scale it very much does. Filipinos have the reputation of not causing problems for other nationalities, being respectful of their customs, and being friendly. If people know that your half you get the graces of a good reputation.
Just say I’m a FilAm
Your Viking blood emerged mixing with Lapu-lapu and Li Ma Hong.
Speaking of origin(race) & nationality. Believe it or not! Do you know Portuguese Navigator Ferdinand Magellan his “Iberian Jew descent(Not Hebrew Origin)?” And most Spanish Military Soldiers came into the Philippines during Colonial Era 15th century, are Iberian Jew(mixed German, Slavic), & Dark Arabs descents?
I need to read more about Magellan-it something on my list
Interesting that you don't have a little Iberian ancestry.
Learn to play "Shatong". 😅 Good warm-up before belting with karaoke. 😅

23:10 That in the picture is a purple yam. Yam is sweet potato. Ube is ube, and ube is not yam.
Yes, others have pointed that out as well. I didn’t know there was a difference!
My kids are half pilipino and they’re very proud to have Filipino blood in them
During pre-colonial, Manila was a Muslim kingdom, Rajah Sulaiman, kin of the Rulers of Brunie separated by Pasig River Tondo which was ruled by Raja Matanda
Pilipinos are every where in this world, some of them are half coz their mother or father or their grandma/grandpa is a Pilipino. They are recognizable by their traits or by Hearts.
