    Thank you for voicing the concern about software being run al the time. I have no objection to software stuff in general but it's not something I'd be running 100% of the time. After all, sometimes I want to have a very old and slow lappy (it will die if new software was to be installed there) and I would still love to have this thing to work with it too.

      Thanks so much for checking it out Ducky. Yeah for many people they may not care about the software, but if you lose a lot of function with the software closed, that’s a con for me.

    I didn't expect such a huge diff in the mids between BAE and Heritage but it's there. The Heritage has more upper mid harmonics (that I actually don't like) whereas BAE is more saturated in the low mid, making it sound thicker.

    • @hyprz
      @hyprz 2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah I agree The Heritage sounds wimpy compared to the BAE. Your comment made me no longer want the Heritage for postcast like stuff.

    • @Screaming-Trees
      @Screaming-Trees 2 місяці тому

      @@hyprz I think BAE is kind of a little different from the vintage Neve stuff. A little more smiley curve or darker if you will. The top end sounds very similar though. I think both Heritage and BAE nail the top end and the bottom end. Heritage gets a little closer to nailing the midrange as well. Well the full fat 8000 series rack unit that I heard anyway. I don't know about the pres in this interface. But you need the EQ really. Without that it's not exactly like a 1073. More like a 1272.

  • @nobirdsnomasters

    I think the interface is cool. One point that needs to be brought up are the two HUGE transformers (green boxes you see). This isn't emulated pre's or something. It's a legit 1073 style pre with transformers. I'm not sure if there is an input AND output transformer though, although I know their rack units do have input and output transformers.
    I used the dual pre/eq rack unit for about 3 years from Heritage and I found the sound a little too modern, bright, and clean compared to a Neve or a BAE. If you like the 1073 but want a little less vibe/color and something that is maybe a bit more friendly, the Heritage is great.
    I don't love mixer software and I really don't like mixer software that always has to be open.
    Heritage also needs to include ADAT on all of its interfaces for outboard gear, recording more tracks, and mixing purposes.

    • @rodneyplatinummix7798
      @rodneyplatinummix7798 2 місяці тому

      Why aren't people talking about the new motu 828, with that money one can get that. Interfaces can never outboard gears like compressors and eqs no matter how hard they try, 10 to 20 years time, computer softwares and engineering will force them out of time, while outboard gears like eqs and compressors remain, unless they have a way those mic pres can be bypassed without the use of the Interface. If I have the money, I'll buy outboard gears and go for a good interface just for conversion and not the excellent pres.

    • @The-Skyking
      @The-Skyking 2 місяці тому

      @@rodneyplatinummix7798 I love Motu. I use the 16a for running outboard when I mix or multitracking. Great for summing. Heritage should add adat to all their interfaces for 8 more tracks. You can sync with a 8 mic pre rack unit, patch bay, something like a Ferrofish converter. All sorts of options with those 8 tracks.

    At $1,000 all switches, pots, and connectors should be chassis mounted metal-bushing parts. A PCB mounted rotary switch is a recipe for early failure & practically screams ‘cash grab.’ Shame. There’s no excuse at this price.

  • @andrewpolzin8489
    @andrewpolzin8489 2 місяці тому

    It sounds congested compared to the outboard. Better to buy an interface with a quality line input that bypasses mic pres and get a quality outboard pre. Then you are not stuck with one distinct pre flavour. Thanks for excellent review.

    I'm curious to know if HA addresses the fact that the mixer needs to be open at all times for monitoring. This sort of a deal breaker for me. The unit seems fantastic otherwise. • @eranddroory9987

    Honestly for the money it's a big fail. If they really wanted to create a hit interface, they'd make the possibility to run your daw tracks through the preamps for analog mojo. 90 percent of producers would welcome that feature and actually buy the unit for that reason, so that leaves them with singer songwriters with a mic and a guitar. So for a 1000$ dollars I'd get the Neve one where it's actually possible, and it's actually a real Neve! But it's typical when a company think the engineers know what we want instead of researching a bit first.

For me, I simply don’t have space for more rack stuff so I don’t keep up with it and a cursory glance at it,that device doesn’t really fit my needs. I would prefer to have a minimum of 4 mic preamps on a rack interface because I will many times have 3-4 mics connected and I want the same pre. For those who run primarily outboard gear, the fact it has so many line inputs would be very helpful though.
