- This is a walk around video of the future Las Vegas Athletics Stadium site located at the recently closed Tropicana hotel site. The Tropicana Las Vegas was closed down on April 2, 2024. The property is owned by Bally's Corp who is going to tear down the Tropicana to make way for the new Las Vegas A's baseball stadium as well as a new Bally's hotel and casino. Construction of the new A's Stadium is supposed to start about a year from now in the spring of 2025 on 9 acres of the 36 acre property. I start the walk around on the south west corner at Las Vegas Blvd and Reno. You can see they are starting to install wooden posts to get the fencing up around the site. I make my way to the north end of the property where you are still able to walk around on site. You can see demolition has started on the old motel room area. They are tearing out the sliders on the balcony's and gutting the rooms. A lot of the trees and landscaping has been torn out in the parking lot areas. As I make my way around the south east side I was finally approached by security that I wasn't allowed in this area. I make my way back up Reno Ave to Las Vegas Blvd. I'm expecting the demolition to ramp up once they get all of the fencing installed. I'm still waiting to hear if the towers will be imploded or just torn down. No need to drop the Trop ,when there's a lot of empty properties from the Trop. All the way until the Pinball place.
85% confident a ballpark never gets built there and it remains a fenced vacant lot for the better part of the next decade: between Bally's financial incompetence and Fisher's managerial incompetence.
Nahh.. It'll get built. The A's is moving and money already spent to make it happen. Just odd place to build the stadium.
@@Darkk6969 Vegas will ultimately get an MLB team, but I'm quite confident it won't be on that site. I think it's more likely to either go on part of the 23 acres of land adjacent to the Rio, or maybe the old Wild Wild West site.
😂This Ain't Oakland... the stadium going up just like the Raiders/UNLV Stadium.. What else can you use a baseball stadium for when not being used as a ballpark 😂
I used to work in the area near near the Tropicana Hotel and Casino many years ago. It's ashamed to see the place being demolished and in it's current state of disrepair. I knew a few people who worked there many years as well. I knew the former Bell Captain and Head Engineer very well. The biggest issue for not selling it sooner was the major expenditures the hotel could not discharge. It's still sad to see the last landmark on the Las Vegas Strip demonlished. I've been to the majority of the hotel implosions. I will miss not being there to see this property imploded.

Looking forward to watching this season of Duntov, man around town. While I encouraged lots of freinds to watch the Allegiant Stadium series, this next few years of Tropicana tear down and insert new mlb stadium is going to be even more epic. The whole drone footage thing is going to be challenging to say the least, but just file for an exemption or whatever it is and maybe you'll get lucky. It isn't impossible. I recently had a conversation with a FAM about the restrictions around major airports and come to find out there are exemptions. Anyways, keep up the good work Duntov.

@@auntim19 The Tropicana is hardly a shrine. Maybe it was hip 35 years ago. Everyone in Las Vegas would much rather have MLB there than that old Trop that nobody goes to anymore. It’s not like they’re imploding the Mandalay Bay.

Still kind of sad about this. I got to see mj live at the trop back in October. It was a great show. I'm glad i went before this was announced.
You should find the general contractor/project manager and promote your idea of documenting the build of the new stadium. Share with them your excellent job you did with the raiders videos and see if they will allow you some access inside the fence with an employee of the company for filming and inside information. Buy a hard hat and reflector vest and steel tip boots, put them on then go and sell yourself just like a salesperson would with a product. You can do it!!!

I was thinking about it. I drove by this morning and saw they put a tent up for tomorrow's groundbreaking. I'm just not sure if it is open to the public.

One thing should have pointed out the "motel" area are the original rooms when the place first opened up. Just a shame to see this place disappear in history.

I haven't heard anything about it for a few weeks. Last I heard was it was going to be heard by the Nevada Supreme Court.

How you feel having two of our Oakland teams there dude?
I feel sorry for the sports fans of Oakland. What do you think is the problem? From an outsider it seems like the city is struggling with crime and decay. Businesses are moving out. Even if they sold the team it would still be in that city. Just curious your thoughts.
The politicians in Oakland had three legendary teams. They ran all three off.
Apart from politics, crime etc etc. the Oakland Colosseum is just wayyyy too old. It’s not really structure properly to host a NFL team or baseball team. Bathrooms get clogged, seating not as comfortable etc etc. I always hated when others bashed my Raiders when it came to the season and seeing the dirt cuz of the MLB season. I don’t care where our teams go. If it gives us a new state of the art home. I’m all for it.

@@Victor-cr5rr No. There never was any story about the owner selling off any piece because he needed it for the stadium. Not only does he have billions but Nevada is kicking in. Not near as much as they did for the Raiders but quite a bit.

@@theoriginalsurferbob and yes the raiders got 750 million and the A's wanting 350,but the raiders got insane prices for NAMING RIGHTS,PSL,LUXARY SUITES AND ADVERTISEMENTS, way more then in Oakland. That's why A's are leaving there banking on getting the crazy prices in Vegas that raiders got.there team value and revenues have skyrocketed
