I am so envious of the quality and variety of cool Toyota trucks you folks get outside the US. I know that's not a cheap truck but I'd rather pay the money for that than the Tundra or posh Tacoma trucks we get here.
Brilliant. I love your channel up here at the equator. I have so many questions. Could you explain your reasoning for picking this vehicle? What does it bring over what you had before? What other options you considered? I have so many questions? I think you could have exploded each chapter (even perhaps into an episode). For instance the suspension choice you made, you mention load considerations, what are they? What is the target load you are working towards that then informs suspension choices? Are you going to upgrade your brakes? Well done and congratulations on this new chapter in your overlanding experiences. Thankyou for sharing with us.
That’s awesome man congrats! As Ive recently gone from my blue 2 door wrangler to my 76 series I’m excited to see what you do to yours and what I can learn .

Petrol is actually a good option for international overlanding especially in developing countries where fuel quality is poor. A petrol vehicle is also usually cheaper overall but usually lacks the range and low-down torque of (some) turbo diesels. It is also difficult to get hold of petrol in some parts of the world and diesels usually have better range. I prefer a diesel personally (but I always install a diesel pre-filter)
Enjoyed that. Certainly not my field, but it was interesting to watch how you start with a basic vehicle and turn it into something to overland in. Can't wait to see the rest asit progresses.
Exciting times! Whatever the purchase... as long as the vehicle doesn't have too many electronics (or overbearing sensors) and is not trying to squeeze 500ķw from 2.8L engine, it should be just fine. I look forward to the Big Reveal.
Great build Christoff!!! Congrats mate, we look forward to seeing the build progress. I have just changed my tough dog set up after 12 years of punishment in Aus, you will love the quality mate👍
Epic. Love it! Fantastic choice. One day, when I'm big, I'll own a 79. Can you give us a breakdown of the cost of upgrades/accessories/modifications, etc?
@@GetOutGO That's great. I was confused because I discovered your channel first, stopped watching for some time, then I saw your fortuner on a thumbnail on "overlanding escape" channel and just assumed it was the same channel. But then I couldn't help but notice there was a different protagonist😁 and you were the side character 😅. Y'all make great content tho, I'm subbed
I had a Troopy before (for about a year). The problem is you only get it in the 4.2 1HZ locally and it is dog slow! If they had it in the V8 locally I would’ve considered it. There are loads of 79’s with the Lightforce Genesis and I haven’t seen any complaints.
congratulation Uncle Chris. awesome machine. thats a vehicle that will be around long after world comes to end it might even get you out of anywhere and to anywhere
@@GetOutGO Phew! That's a relief! Waiting here with baited breath... Toyota would be classic and predictable, any other Japanese manufacturer would win for cool factor alone!

You should add the costing on each item you add/replace ok the car. That way we can manage our expectations. Love the show!!

Love the gone in 60 seconds intro, congrats on the new Land cruiser. Was happy to see you on expedition overland. Keep it up!

Thanks for watching! More episodes coming where I’ll talk about why I chose this vehicle plus still quite a few mods to come…
Looking forward to a more detailed car selection process maybe your top 5 list and why the 79.
Congrats! 👍 Looking fwd to follow the build and future adventures. 🤠
Thank you Renier!
nice one Chris hope you enjoy it with the pack. Can't wait to see you guys with Ed and Ryan. See you on the next episode. Cheers mate🤙🤘

Gone in 60 seconds music.
Awesome! Cant wait to see the rest of the build. Congrats! Hi from Kanada
Workmanship is on point.Great team....great video.
Great video! It would be good if you went through why you chose the 79 Series compared to what else was on the market…
Coming soon 👍

Congratulations Christoff! Glad to see the Fortuner made a suttle appearance in the video!
She is in good hands
Thanks Raymond!
Aren't spots technically illegal in Namibia??
No, 2 x lights below bonnet level is fine, more lights than 2 and lights above the bonnet (like light-bars) are though
The music is so fitting.......

Those bull bars is also nice in traffic. You can get in full frontal crashes and the bull bar will protect the bakkie nicely
Awesome and congratulations!
Many happy miles.
Would love to hear why you choose the V8 over the 2.8...?
Thank you! Will do a specific video about that 👍
Congratulations Christoff. It is an awesome vehicle!!
Fell in love with mine a year ago!
Enjoy the build!
Thank you, much appreciated!
Definitely 300 series. The prado is a lot smaller than that. 🤞
Nice one! They don't get much tougher than a 79. 😉Looking forward to seeing the build completed.🥂
Thank you!
Congratulations cris. You deserve it. Enjoy the build. Looking forward to your new adventures.
Ps. You'll definitely miss the fortuner😢

Thanks 👍
Congratulations - great build so far. Excited to hear the Tough Dog Ralph review, 53mm is a serious shock.
Thanks! So far I really like them, will do a video specifically on suspension later
Awesome choice. Congratulations. Looking forward to future episodes.
Thanks! 🙏🏻
I’m jealous christoff ❤
Just got the same new V8 in single cab for work trips. For private use I've had a double cab since 2017
I’m already enjoying it thoroughly!
You look super proud. Hope it’s safe unfortunately they are popular on the shopping 🛒 list 😢
Thanks! Not so much actually, anything with a GD-6 / D4D on the other hand…
Thanks Christoff. I am planning some upgrades to my 76 Series. This is a timely video series and highly informative. Thank you.
Thanks Michael!
Many safe overlanding trips in your grand new wheels Chris. We’ll be watching in anticipation. 🙌🏼
Thank you!
Lekke Christoff enjoy the epic legend, Cruiser when this build is done this will be a beast of an overlanding vehicle.

Congratulations I told you on you on your test review the perfect truck for you.
Mooi man

Congrats Chris, you choose right. I like the space at the back. It would look great with the tray canopy

Ons het dit al probeer, die probleem is dit is net te hoog so al wat n tak is vang en hy breek uiteindelik.
Awesome stuff Chris hy begin nou bymekaar kom kan nie wag vir die volgende produkte nie🔥
Dankie Boet!
🎉🎉🎉Get Out, Go congratulations on the new rig. To more many happy miles 🍻
Thank you 🙏🏻
We gonna miss the Fortuner we got so used to seeing. Congratz on the new truck. Looking forward to see how you kit this out.
Thanks 👍 Missing the Fortuner as well but I am enjoying this one 😉
I cant wait to see a complete modified machine
Super excited for the new series🔥
@getoutgo I love the Gone in 60 Seconds intro!
Different V8 but I love that movie 😉
Congrats on the new rig. Wish you many, many awesome trips with it.

300 series or 70 series.
Truck for days ❤
300 series for sure..

2.8 70 series? New Defender? Nonsense... It's a G-Wagon or a Subaru Forrester... Tell me I'm wrong!
😂🎉
Definitely not the new Defender! 😂

2.8 is literally throwing money at 80s tech! Nice simple and reliable 100% but there's zero justification for that price
The milking continues 😂
@@pauljansen6650100% surely a 2.8 should be cheaper than a 4.5, right?
Hopefully we see some BF Goodrich KOs on this

200 series
Awesome buddy

Loved the opening sequence, well done!

Question, why did you go for petrol and not diesel?
It is a diesel, the 1VD-FTV 4.5 V8. The petrol is a V6. I prefer this diesel for its low-down torque
Sorry I got that wrong😊 Great choice!
Ineos
At R1,5m (for the base model), it's definitely not one of those... I really like the concept but their pricing is nuts.
@@GetOutGO Yea they are too expensive here in the States for me as well!
My bet is on a 300 series land cruiser

The bull bar is the worst possible place to fit your antennas 👍
I’ve had it on the roof rack and just behind the bonnet. In my experience on the bullbar is the best compromise
Can you support your statement with good reasoning ….. I’m looking at a similar concept. 😮
