Not strict at all I’m pretty sure it’s a scam by companies to buy more dairy aside

So your advice is to open expired or damaged cans, dump the food out, wash the cans, and then boil the cans for half an hour? I think that could expose people to the dangerous bacteria in the cans, contaminate their cookware and kitchen or even the air. Also, that means the person has to pay for the cost of the water, the soap, gas or electricity to boil something for half an hour, and also use quite a bit of their personal time. How about a collection bin just for expired food cans that takes them to a special facility to be opened perhaps by a machine, that then recycles the cans and composts the food? That would be a better idea than everyone spending their time and money and risking getting sick doing it themselves.

Acidic foods such as tomatoes and pineapple will sometimes eat through the can, so keep an eye on them.

I ate "C" rations in Vietnam for a year I was there. Most of the cans were from the Korean war. The food was edible, nobody in our company got sick, but it was not the best tasting. Go figure.

I was in jr high (in the 70's) when I went to open a can of dog food and I thought, "WOW, this can is extra full! He'll love it!" WRONG MOVE! When I barely touched the opener to the lid that thing exploded like Vesuvius and I spent at least an hour cleaning the kitchen of all that nastiness - floor, walls, cabinets, CEILING! I'm much more cautious now. LOLOLOLOLOlolol

Oh no, I do not give my cats dented cans of food for that reason. It is also why I would not recommend following the advice in this video that says to open, dump, and wash the cans before boiling them for half an hour. Most people don't have the time to do that, and it would potentially expose people to the bacteria inside the can.

I consumed a can of tuna fish with a Best Buy of 2010. The can was totally fine no rust or bulge. The tuna was a little mushier than usual but tasted fine. Made a nice tuna salad and not even indigestion. As long as your can is intact no smell or strange color you should be fine.

by far the hardest part of fasting is the boredom. If you've never done a multiday fast, you have no idea the enormous amount of your daily time is spent thinking about, preparing, or eating food. Depending on your lifestyle, it can be really hard to fill all that extra free time. If you want a fast to be easy, start it when you are very busy.

Im hoping someone can answer this question for me as I cant find information about it anywhere.
Why does canned food expire/become unsafe to eat if the can is still closed?
If the cans are air tight, and there is no bacteria alive in the can because it was boiled during production, then shouldn't the worst thing that could happen be that the food gets mushy/soggy?
I see no reason why you cant cook and eat mushy soggy food other than just not liking the texture.
I don't see any reason why the food would become toxic to eat. Shouldn't it last forever?
The only thing that should cause it to decay at that point is literally just the radioactive decay of the atoms themselves which would take hundreds of thousands to millions of years.
If you know the answer I'd love to know.

I've eaten canned food as old as 2018. Tasted fine no loss of flavor
Use common sense store in pantry or anywhere with moderate temps not garage. Tomato product and things like pineapple juice do not last as long. As long as tomato product in
can is not bulging you should be fine.

Working class to poor people don't have time for all that disposal processing. Wealthy entitled people should have to do this more often or pay people to do it. Because right now they are the ones that waste the most and do the least to conserve.
