Tommy Emmanuel plays Struttin' on my guitar!

  • I was lucky enough to meet Tommy before his gig in the Helix, Dublin. It was surreal seeing the guy you've watched 100's of times on youtube up close. He shook everyones hand, got in for photos then signed some guitars. I asked him about a Jerry Reed song called 'Struttin' and he just picked up my guitar and blasted into it. In my opinion - 'The Best Guitarist Ever' and a hell of a nice guy to boot!

    Totally agree. my favourite guitarist, (and in my opinion the best) and has written some of the most haunting and beautiful modern acoustic guitar songs out there. Gives away and shares his knowledge with the world, is not up himself and just loves music. What a great role model and truly gifted man!

    I have been fortunate enough to meet Tommy twice - before concerts - the first time I brought an OLD OLD 1960's (Sears and Roebuck) guitar, and he was gracious enough to sign it... however, he didn't play it -- he told me he would need a tetnus shot to play it! :-) The second time I met him in Nashville, TN, I got both TE and Dr. John Knowles to sign my NEW guitar (Taylor 314CE). Tommy said, "Nice guitar..." and that just made my day. Tommy IS music. Watch closely when he plays... :-D

      @@midnightaustin9287 get a good setup and get the neck as straight as possible (almost no relief), it shouldn't be too hard. The song is tricky, but the barring shouldn't be too difficult.

  • @bigdood
    @bigdood 13 років тому

    LOL... the song "Struttin'" was a signature piece of the fourth c.g.p. (Certified Guitar Player), Jerry Reed. The three c.g.p.'s still "Struttin" are Tommy, Dr. John Knowles, and Steve Wariner. I am trying hard to find Steve to sign my guitar so I will have all three living c.g.p. signatures on my Taylor. Then I will keep it forever. TE inspires me to do one of two things -- to practice, practice practice -- or to just give up and burn the damned thing. So far, I'm practicing. :-)
