It's said that seeing is believing - at long last we finally get to visit this most legendary Iraqi Bakery in Hounslow, where the "Master Naan Bread Maker" has honed and perfected his technique to such an extent that from the moment he takes the dough bread in his hand to the moment that he slaps the fully formed nan into the tandoor oven; takes literally a matter of seconds......yes, that's right within seconds!!!

The way you see how they make the naan bread is exactly the same way they would make it back in Iraq.
It was great to see these guys in action because they truly reminded us of India. Really great to see the freshly made Kulcha naan breads being made on a rotating Tawa (instead of a tandoori oven).
Watching the naan being made you can see that it's a very similar technique & method to the way Indian Tandoor Naan bread is made (they call it a Tendur in Kurdish).

Making them not difficult just need a bit practice even you can make them in your oven tray.

That Naan is very common here in Kurdistan region in Iraq, like on the corner of every street. They sell it here 8 Naans for less than a $1 US dollar.

Naan originate in Mesopotamia in modern day Iraq and was popular throughout middle east and was bought to India by Delhi sultanate and spread throughout India
Something similar to naan is made in indus valley and harappan (modern day Pakistan and some NW of india)
These are honest prices. Just imagine how bad the corporations are ripping us off. That's how they can afford so much waste.

Ahhh this gives me such beautiful memories of my time in oman! They would make these in almost every locality, you'd get 10 of these for half a pound. And we got a cheese(just one) one which goes for half a pound as well. Lovely cuisine!! ❤️

Once had an Iraqi kebab in either Ashdod or Ashkelon in Israel. Best kebab I've ever had, with freshly made bread too. Those breads look absolutely amazing.

The last time I ventured out, I enjoyed a falafel wrap as a starter for £1.50 ... walked to the next joint and had chicken biryani and rice for £3 followed by dessert which consisted for a beautiful Polish Ice Cream which I could not finish..... Three course meal for about £6 🤣🤣🙌🏽🙌🏽

This guy is a Kurd, you will find such bakers on every street corner in Kurdistan. We have a Kurdish saying: leave the bread for the baker and the butcher his meat.

It's not too cheap. If that was the case he'd be out of business. His costs are about right and he's making a healthy profit.

@@t8506 the heavy gas use, rent, business rates, VAT etc, tbh I actually charge 10 times more for a plain naan in a restaurant. It sucks to make 30 naans to make only £10 gross when you factor in the time too. I hope for their sake they make ends meet

They can't make that much profit on these in London? Rent, taxes, gas, flour. I applaud them.
You'd be surprised by how cheap making a huge bulk of dough is. Hell they might not even make the dough themselfs. Then the company who makes it makes thousands of pounds at a time. Making it extremely cheap.

It’s part of the restaurant next door. Good business model, they already make the bread so why not open up the kitchen and add extra income.

@@4ickyy but he sells at as low as 33p, and this doesn't cover equipment, utilities, packaging and labour cost. He is running a tight operation. Kudos 👍
