all timber is certified plantation timber no wild forest timber is used , all sourced from plantations on Java. Apart from that don't know any other details of the business side

i personally think this is not good for environment, you should think about sustaining Bali's wood, all djembe made from big solid block of wood, and only take small part of it to make the djembe.
Wondering if there's expatriate's investment behind this? hopefully not.

Not Quality drums... . If you saw them on racks... notice the hole for sound to come out is small despite fairly big bowl. Aiso machine turned does not give best result.- nice smooth surface on both sides is good for furniture- not for drums. Quality African drums... rough on inside brcause it reduces the ringing and should have a nice wide throat,

+jane rudden I can certainly appreciate the quality of a fully hand carved Djembe, but I also don't understand why people can't also respect the drums featured in this video. Yes, they are often of inferior quality to those hand carved in Africa, but that doesn't make them poor drums. Some drums in the video had small throats, but many appeared to have perfectly fine proportions. Also, I don't mind lathe carving if it lowers the cost so that more people can afford such instruments (yes, a smooth inner shell of a goblet drum is not preferable to one with spiral grooves, but a smooth one won't sound terrible either). So again, I certainly like and prefer those drums that are truly hand carved and use traditional methods and materials, but that shouldn't be the only way to make a Djembe! That would be like saying one HAS to purchase a Stradivarius from Italy to have a real violin :)
