While the real perp was getting away they were wasting time with an innocent man, that was just out on his daily run. I feel like people of color should be careful when trying to exercise, you might get shot by police.
There was a cop who detained and later arresting the jogger, and there was a 2nd cop who (while talking to the victim) relayed the description to the arresting officer. **They BOTH have smart phones.** From the released bodycam video, the description didn't match, "Just a little bit of scruff on his chin" vs "pretty good size beard". Man can't grow a beard in an hour or less. The arresting officer DID suggest the woman and kid be transported by cop car to ID jogger. He actually suggested transport EVEN WITHOUT car-seats for 5yo and 1 yo.
@H Con From the bodycam in the first 26 minutes, glasses were never mentioned, neither was complexion level, just black. However, facial hair description excluded the jogger "Just a little bit of scruff on his chin" vs "pretty good size beard" Jogger had beard.

I'm always amazed when our officials and representatives of law enforcement can never apologize or say "we made a mistake". They just brush it off and move on as if nothing happened.
There's a very simple and pragmatic explanation for this. A cop's bread and butter is getting others to admit to being at fault. Even if they 100% know that they're in the wrong, no officer (or department) is ever going to give a potential prosecution/investigation ammunition that might be used against them.
I guess they would have thrown any black man jogging down the street in that moment. Are they not able to FaceTime? What these cops don’t have iPhones? Nah. Let’s shove him in the car for demanding probable cause to invade his privacy and inconvenience his life. I know there is a long history of racist cops in this country, so why don’t we try and change that, instead of what it seems we are doing which is pretty much nothing.
I AGREE WITH YOU 100% EVEN THOE I AM NOT BLACK I HAVE ALOT OF RESPECT FOR THIS RACE, THERE IS ALOT OF RACIST POLICE OFFICERS IN THIS WORLD, STAY SAFE AND GOD BLESS❤🙏👼
This cop was doing what is called "copsplaing". This is their way of explaining to citizens that the illegal activity they witnessed is not what they saw. This person was under no obligation to ID himself. He had not broken any laws. Cops could have taken a picture with their phones and showed to lady. Instead the beat up this innocent citizen and try to "copsplain" their actions.
The excuse that "we need to take you somewhere to identify you can be done with FaceTime, texting a picture to have the person identify, therr is no excuse to continue to detain innocent people, forcing them to unlawfully identify or using a person's right not to identify as justification to charge them with obstruction or delaying an investigation.
Once they found out that he wasn't the man all they had to do was apologize to the man. And let him go! Instead they file charges against him trap him in a jail for 2 days. What a bunch of scumbags

He told me that he hadn't thought of it like that but it made him feel better about it.
I see a lot of comments calling the recorders SJWs in a derogatory manner and defending the cops.all things considered the cop who approached them was pretty respectful. Mathias Ometu , that's the name of the man they arrested, wrong suspect , btw. The only "crime" he committed was assert his rights to not identify himself. He was detained and forced into the back of the cop car. He was charged with felony assault of a police officer , it's the video that they recorded seriously punches a huge hole in the narrative of the cops's story. The couple who recorded said on news that they felt that cops approached them to get their story straight , and I have to agree with them. They also asked them to show their Facebook account apparently because he was already in cuffs and was not resisting till the cops got violent . If they didn't record, that poor man would have a felony against him of assaulting a police officer. Imagine if this man went to court , it would be the cops word against his . Guess who's going to be believed ? Let's say he gets acquitted ,if there is body cam footgae , who's going to reimburse him for the spent cost and time ? Imagine how many people have charges like these because they pled to charges they didn't commit because they couldn't afford attorneys , or couldn't stay away from work because of monetary restraints? Let's say he isn't even taken to court or indicted , his mugshot could come back to haunt him. All because a cop didn't like his ego bruised. Edit: this is what it means for good cops showing up for bad cops. See the arrest video , they were quite violent with a man who wasn't doing anything.
Now the problem is Cops will not be charged with anything. Even when the complainant said they have the wrong man the cops still charged him w/ secondary charges
Nothing but facts. This has BEEN going on. And for those who can't afford bail, lose their jobs awaiting trial, and, as you said, plead guilty because they can't afford the legal fees it is infuriating.
@Sam. Apparently, you saw a different video. He refused to ID himself. Ok, does that mean it's the end of the investigation and the cops have to let him go? No, this moron chose to take this to another level when they detained him and politely asked him to wait inside the police vehicle. He refused then began fighting with the police and kicking them when they were placing him into the vehicle. He created his own problems in an attempt to win the ghetto lottery. He wasted precious time that the police could've been using to search for the actual suspect. He should've just ID himself. He had no respect for the Black female victim who was beaten, but it's "BLM" right?

In the original body cam video released by SAPD, at about 5:30 into the video, the officer talking to the jogger notices another jogger with same outfit on jogging on the other side of the street. The officer mentions that this jogger is going down the street, but none of the other officers take notice, nor do they stop this person for questioning.
I mean in the end it wasnt him and he didn't match the description at all so yea it was unlawful but that's something that white ppl dont really seem to understand untill it happens to them which it never really does
Matched the exact description - my foot...the clearer it became that he DIDN'T match the description, at all...the more they wanted to pin something on him to punish him for making them look foolish. And that's exactly what they did.
Why is it every dark shin toned person always matches the description of one cops are looking for? Then most times, they actually do NOT....I'm tired of seeing this abuse....how about police treat other's as they want their family treated!!
And let's say the jogger was just a jogger and had nothing to do with information the police were going on.... There is no way for the police to know that. You need to work with the police through the situation. If the police were all knowledgeable they would never get it wrong and if they did then they would be bad. They are not all knowledgeable and have to figure it out in real time as they go.

@@Chihuahua-chica yep
@@Chihuahua-chica note how the cop successfully drew the camera to him rather it staying on the arrest. Mission accomplished, sadly.
Distracted the camera from the arrest. He did his job.
They arrested the wrong !!! Great Job !! And put False Charges on him.. That makes even Better for the Law suit.. Next time get a better description ...
...and if he didn't do THIS crime, he probably did another crime, so he should still be arrested! ...thinks the white police.
Lol, give him more fuel for the lawsuit
Why do you need to id a person if you have the description of the person you’re looking for 🤦🏽♂️ and the person they arrested looked NOTHING like the person they had the description of
Third eye that’s sad and that’s why every time a cop gets killed I smile. I can’t wait for karma to come around and do to them and their families what they’re doing to us 😡

Thank you for recording!!!! Everyone should. The amount of times the police report does not match the video evidence is what is saving people. Glad you were there.
Every single one of those cops had a cell phone...snap a pic and send to someone over at the house boom problem solved. I watched the Facebook video it’s possible the office of elbowed in the eye by this partner and not kicked it doesn’t look like he was kicking in the video. Anyways charges were dropped very quick only mean the DA couldn’t find evidence of the kicking
They can make up anything and we'd never know
I am going to say this again... The cops have cell phones, the girlfriend has a cell phone but no one could text a picture of the suspect or a screen shot of the suspects Facebook photo of him and send it to all the cops via text? We have all of this technology but we have idiots using them! These cops need training on how to use technology and be better investigators so they can avoid situations like this one. The description these cops were passing around, I could have been a suspect. Hell, they described 60% of African Americans in Texas just saying! Come ON now!
Yes sir
This is another option they could have taken to solve this problem in less than a minute. This was a total waste of time for both parties.
**They BOTH have smart phones.**
From the released bodycam video, the description didn't match, "Just a little bit of scruff on his chin" vs "pretty good size beard".
LOL I said the same thing on another page about the same video
Matched exact description 😂 the first cop knew right away it wasn’t him. The citizen hurt his ego so the cop retaliated.
Any time a citizen doesn’t give a cop exactly what they want when they want it, they retaliate.
The wrong guy harassment😤😤
He did not meet the description, but he is black, so ....
He was described as black, green shirt, white shorts. Other details came out later, but when he refused to ID, that’s where the real trouble started.
@@Spyke-lz2hl If the so called Law Enforcement Officers had any knowledge of the Laws they are suppose to be enforcing, then they would have known that they cannot compel someone, who is NOT under arrest, to get in their vehicle and be taken somewhere else.
1. The victim cannot come to the scene.
2. We cannot lawfully take the Detainee to the location of the Victim
3. Lets take a picture of the Detainee, send it to our colleague at the Victim's location, and have her ID him.
Griff Mustard Yeah that would’ve been the easiest way. So if that’s the law, how does anyone ever get identified. Are you saying they would’ve just had to let him go without identifying him? How do they solve any crimes?
Tee Gee No he wasn’t, but look what happened because he didn’t. He has that right, but that doesn’t mean they’re just going to let him go.
@@Spyke-lz2hl The burden is on the Cops to prove that the man is who they are looking for. The man does not have to assist the Cops to incriminate him. Hence the 5th Amendment (which addresses Self Incrimination). Matching a description doesn't mean a person is guilty. It means the Police now have to do investigative work, BUT with in the confines of the law. The problem is, because of QUALIFIED IMMUNITY, Cops have become Lazy, Ignorant, Stupid and Dumb. (QA) means a Cop no longer has to think (use his brain). (QA) means a Cop only has to Act or Re-Act, because no matter the outcome of his actions, there will be very little to no consequences. Take away (QA) and Cops will have to start thinking Rationally. Imagine if your DOCTOR had (QA), would you trust him to do a good job?
And to address your response to (TEE GEE), the Cops broke the Law. They should be charged with ARMED Kidnapping. Before they can force the guy into the Car, they needed to place him under arrest first, but they didn't.
Here's a SCENARIO for you: ~( Replace the Cops with some Creepy Guy in a Van, and replace the Black Guy with a cute little White Girl)
CREEPY GUY: Hey Little Girl, you match the description of a little girl that ran way from home. Get in the Van, so I can take you back to your mother.
LITTLE WHITE GIRL: No........I'm not a Runaway, leave me alone !!!
CREEPY GUY: {{{{{ I SAID GET IN THE VAN }}}} Come here, get in the van ~struggle~ ghrrgh - hehhgg, (DOOR SLAM).
Is there a difference here??.............NO !!!! >>>>>>((KIDNAPPING))
I'm always amazed when our officials and representatives of law enforcement can never apologize or say "we made a mistake". They just brush it off and move on as if nothing happened.
they never apologize because they know they have a self serving "internal investigation", Qualified Immunity and a court system just sweep it under
There's a very simple and pragmatic explanation for this.
Exactly!!
😂 your a clown. I love how everyone thinks they’re a lawyer hahaha
I said the exact same thing
wow, I never thought of that, thanks for the tip
I agree 100% and commented the same thing before I read your comment!!
Copsplain... you just making up words trying to be popular 🙄
Its not about vilifying all police but the "good police" are not holding the bad police accountable.
Which, means the 'good' police are not GOOD Police!
Once they found out that he wasn't the man all they had to do was apologize to the man. And let him go! Instead they file charges against him trap him in a jail for 2 days. What a bunch of scumbags

Please what?
They already knew what was going on when they saved and uploaded the video. The situation had already happened. So yes, deliberate race bait in the title.
Why did he find the need to explain their action to a regular civilian?
My thoughts also
This reminds me of the Tillman’s case...all the witness has to do is Misidentify this man(if he’s innocent) and off he goes for five years with a felony charge attached.
When an officer lies he quickly spreads the word to other officers so they can back him up with a matching lie. It is very hard to support the police when this is happening way to often.
He meets the description! Of what? someone on the Maury show?
Lol.
It’s good they even cared i would say
Omg look at the line of police cars for 1 person definitely over staffed with nothing better to do
I counted 8 cops in one frame with others walking back and forth. Must have been at least ten of them.
A Karen called and then we know the rest of the story. It seems that you can just call 911 and then the person will be arrested for doing normal things
No, she wasn't a Karen. According to the call, she was choke unconscious by a known assailant. If you are going to gripe and complain, at least have a clue.

My brother moved to Arizona. He tells me that cops are always following him. Usually for quite awhile before turning off.
I said I thought that was terrific. He asked me why I thought it was terrific.
I told him that since all of the upheaval in the country and him being over 65 and alone, I didn't think that he could have hired better body guards. He told me that he hadn't thought of it like that but it made him feel better about it.
Nice
lol they arent there to protect him - you better get some life insurance on him, no telling when the will pounce
How true Sam Jones, How true.
Now the problem is
Cops will not be charged with anything.
Even when the complainant said they have the wrong man the cops still charged him w/ secondary charges
Sam you explained exactly how the system works. Dirty stuff. Welcome to Germany 1939
Prime example of people who have no clue or idea of what is going on
A gf called the cops about her bf abusing her. All they had to work off is that. If this guy didnt do anything wrong then why make a fuss. Just understand why they are stopping you and do what they say. I mean if you did nothing wrong why cause a scene.
@C and J im white and i was sitting in front of my friends house waiting for him to get home so we could go for a bike ride. Some person called the cops and said i was jumping people fences into their backyards. 3 cops cars roll up on me, hands on their guns, put cuffs on me, They did their thing and we all got thru it with no one being killed and we all got to go home. Ya i was mad at whoever called the cops and lied. But i do not blame the cops at all. So shut your damn mouth with your BS.
John Zabik that’s why it’s important t to have witnesses and find out what’s going on. White people generally do t experiences these kind of encounters with the police so you will never understand. You just don’t get it.
Okk Dude your experience doesn’t mean anything. The fact that Black skin can change the direction of an encounter because the police perceive Blacks to be more dangerous and untrustworthy they are quicker to feel threatened and their egos get bruised when they are questioned. It’s about power and you will never understand because you don’t live your life as a Black person. Nor would you ever want to. So stfu.

Attacked and assaulted by police. Nobody can help. He spent two days in jail even though he was NOT the guy they were looking for. This is disgraceful.
So they just assumed he got pulled over for being black? How stupid
That man had no obligation to assist them in their investigation. Common sense would have been to find a photo of the suspect, ask the girlfriend for one, or find him on social media. I know picking up random black men on the street is a bit easier and might shake lose some extra arrests due to warrants, but it's not effective police work.
I live here. Happens just about every day in San Antonio and it doesn't matter what your skin color is white, Black Or brown, you're always treated unfairly and always guilty. Your rights are almost always violated with any kind of encounter with SAPD. Sad but very true.
