Beautiful advice 💖 Glass is the first medium I've been able to really sit down and work on consistently to make one large piece over weeks and it is such a satisfying feeling to step back from some of the instant gratification it's so easy to be hooked on and actually make something I'm proud of.

I have boxes of soda bottles from when my Dad died that I’ve not been able to approach until this year. Thank you for this video. Now I have the encouragement I need dig in and find something to do with them. Something that will represent who saved them. ❤

Thank you Derek! Thank you for reminding us to keep going. I am also of an age where I remember life before social media. In my glass art, I am grateful for that connection because I've been able to learn and grow my craft with your classes, tips and tricks. I have learned from many great artists but hands down, I've learned the most from you. THANK YOU!

Thank you for your inspirational words! ❤ I grew up in the digital world. Social media is indeed a part of out life on a daily basis. I also have visited galleries and museums a lot when I was a student. And I see the difference, I see mostly older people in the galleries because youth explores the world online. And you are so right in developing own personal style first and then your audience will find you and will follow you. If there is our love and passion in our work it will find it's admirers.

Thank you for the encouragement Derek! I'm so excited to started making stained glass works again. I've only made a couple of pieces so far, but I had to completely stop for a year. Now I'm finally able to get back to it (I received my grinder two days ago!) and turn the tens of patterns I drew up in the meantime, into reality :)

Thanks for the encouraging words. I started in stained glass in 1976 with the intention of making it a career, but it did not work out. I got a real job that paid the bills but didn't leave time for my art. Now that I am older, I have fifty years of pent-up creativity in me screaming to get out. I hope you are feeling well. I am a cancer survivor.

It's interesting how different people are drawn to different facets of stained glass. My favorite thing is restoration, especially when there's painting to be done, rather than all-new work. I'm frankly not that creative and I know it. I'm an engineer by temperament, training, and trade - at least until I retired some years ago. So I'm all about figuring out how to fix things. If only there were more people needing such skills in the area where I live!

You’re right ofcourse, everyone is different and each brings different skills to the table. Conservation definitely uses a different part of my brain - more problem solving than creativity for sure !🙂
