I'm not too surprised that Gaijin made the 2000-5F more of an amalgamation of different export models. They did the same with the US's F-5E, F-5A/C, and a few other planes
I guess the "upgrade path for export customers" meant modifications to support more air-to-ground ordnances, and Gaijin put 2 and 2 together amd said "okay, just send it"
AS-30L really was a slept on weapon, I always used them in my jaguar and they never failed to accurately guide to a target. Sometimes in air rb I would shoot them at slow moving targets who assumed they were IR missiles and didn’t attempt to maneuver for an easy kill.
You didn't talk about the fact this plane will get the same treatment as the J8F. 2000-5F was made irl to give France Fox3 in waiting of the Rafale, so the plane IRL could use 4 MICA ER (Fox3) et 2 MICA IR (Fox2). But as they are a bit too OP for the game rn, Gaijin gived it a "fake" loadout of 530D + Magics2 (by fake, i mean it was never used this way IRL as the 2000C would get the old weaponry and this upgrade would only fly with upgraded weaponry (MICA)).
Be aware that if you are trying to launch an air to air missile with a radar lock with the targeting pod actively tracking a target, the missile will slave to the targeting pod instead of the radar, which will trash your missile shot. Until gaijin fixes this bug, have a button bound to "deactivate target point" or go into your targeting pod view and disable its tracking and turn off the laser.
Wow that radar display position is good enough to motivate me to grind for it even though it doesn't have MICA missiles. the -S5's is too low, I lose juuuuuuust enough situational awareness when I look down to check IFF. Not as good as the MiG-29 having it straight on the HUD, but it's something

Customers have their variant of the -5 upgrade like the Mirage 2000EGM for greece that has no air to ground weapon but stand off SCALP cruise missile, the upgraded 2000H for india that can carry laser guided bombs, a targeting pod as well as man in the loop weapons with the datalink pod, or the ROCAF Mirage 2000EI that only has air to air weapons. The -9 is the ultimate upgrade of the Mirage 2000. It s the one we have in game minus the super 530. The PGM is the UAE unique weapons qnd the guidance system is either laser guided or man in the loop but I can understand Gaijin s choice of not including that one, opting of a TV compromise. I should add a small correction from what I hear in almost all english speaking channels, but the plane is called the Mirage 2000 tiret 5. (Mirage 2000 dash 5) and not mirage 2000 5 or 2000 9.
Hey Tim, could you do an updated review of the F1 series of Mirage's? I got one recently and was afraid because of the terrible reviews, but I was quite surprised it is actually doable and not bad to fly. Of course outperformed by its constant up tier, still not as bad as I thought.
I took enjoy it it's a very easy plane to fly but what it has to go up against in terms of 12.0 outclasses pretty hard definitely still possible to spank them back though
7:07 this is incorrect. The motor burns for quite a long time. Far longer than the maverick or hellfire for example. The trade-off is the power of the motor. It is much less powerful than the other mentioned missiles. You are correct that it is slow, but its range comes from that fact. The PGM walks a long distance, whereas the AGM-65 sprints a short distance.
I hate it when Gaijin does this chimera vehicles, I understand the tech tree needs something right now and everything else its not being developed or too advanced, but still they could've added the Mirage 2000-5 multirole ver instead of this frankenstein 5F/9 export vers.
Vieux charles is such an iconic paint job. If we could have 4 radar missiles like the yak 141or 4 magic 2 and 2 radar this would be an insane plateform. Anyways awesome review.
To my knowledge the Mirage 2000-5F is the first major upgrade over the Mirage 2000C. Replaces most cockpit displays with several large multi-function displays, and upgrading the stores-to-aircraft interface for the use of targeting pods and a wide variety of guided air-to-ground weapons, as well as a radar upgrade to provide guidance information for MICA missiles. please take this with a grain of salt.
you can drop the glid bomb on the pantsir at 20km so in sqb they cant hit u. Also the all aspect new dopler radar mod allow you to shoot the R530D from behind and gide it rlly well.
When will the f-111 come to the game its prime time for it to come maybe the FB NOT F 111 could be under the bomber tree not at top tier but maybe like the (oh im gonna botch this) Marinefleiger
I wonder if we'll get the -9 in a separate line (maybe after the f100?) when they give the 5F the MICAs. Though i think we'll likely get Radar MICAs only until more advanced IR missiles come to the game, atleast the R73 and aim9m
Meamwhile the 530D remains slower than it is supposed to be, despite all the pending reports.. the slowness of this missile is the only thing dragging this plane back in a bvr fight
Is anyone else really glad we got drop tanks, just because they make planes look cooler? I don't know why, but some jets just don't look right without them, or look way better with them. Really hope the F-104 series gets them too.
I have seen a picture where a Mirage 2000 can carry six air-to-air missiles. In this picture, it is two Magics and four MICAs. The arrangement placed two MICAs on the same pylon as the Damocles Targeting Pod, one to either wing. The other pair was behind the first, roughly in line with the Magics. Is this possible with R530Ds? They are larger than the MICAs.
@@marcusschriever4518 MICA are dropped before firing their motors, but Magics and S530D fire off their rails, so with that fact only the 2 center pylons could be usable to fire magics and 530s, but 530 are too heavy imo. Mirage 2000s with MICAs use the pylons used by the super 530 for fuel pods. but with custom loadouts i don't see why we can't add the 4 center MICAs with the current ingame loadout 2 Magics/MICA on outer wing pylons and 2 S530D on inner wing pylons (maybe weight but i doubt that).... and i would love the idea of having 8 missiles on a plane in the french tree
I took a year of French back in grade school, and the #1 thing I learned was that I have absolutely zero aptitude for the French language, and can't pronounce it correctly to save my life 😅

Don't use the PGMs they are complete trash. Just use the AS-30L and GBU 12s. Players that fly 20 miles away to not have reliable kills are throwing the games for your team.

It's the MICA EM, and funfact, the fuselage hardpoints are compatible with the IR version, so it can carry 6 fox 2's.

the mirage 2000 5-f is an upraded version made to carry the MICA missile.
It may not be anything crazy new for now but I still think it’s a nice addition and maybe they’ll upgrade the weapons system in the future

That and the amount of missiles it can carry. If this is the variant that carried MICA missiles, it could carry 11 missiles total (at least 2 Magics).
