I say if your gonna be mostly sampling and you have $800 get a 2500 or 2000xl with 8 outs just so you have that classic mpc sound .. but if sound isnt important, or you wanna mess with the synths and other plugins that the new mpcs have than go for that . I have a live 2, op1, 2000xl and 3000. I rotate them. They all get used depending on what sound i want or if im gonna be in the woods or on a plane making music
I’ve had most of the MPCs too and agree with many of your conclusions about how good the Mpc Live is but I always end up drafting out tracks with it and then sampling the chops into my Mpc 3000 or Sp1200 to make the final track. You touched on it but no matter what I try the Lives sequencer and timing just doesn’t give me a feel that the 3000 or 1200 does, and it’s really difficult to describe. I use the Live now as my sketch pad and place to just sample everything into, create ideas on the go. When I sample everything I have in an idea on the live into the 3000 or sp1200 it always feels so much better than fighting with the Lives timing, even when I’m micro nudging and going in surgical on the Lives grid editor, or doing stuff with quantise off, utilising the list editor, half timing the bpm to decrease the ppq or trying to multiple swing settings, it’s hard to explain, it just never sequences like I want it. Like you said! Maybe I’m missing something! Big love to you over in Canada man. PeAce.
The 60 is special. For me it's too bad that there are no filters and slow as molasses file management. That said, in the right hands it is an absolute beast. Turns out I wasn't the right hands!
I'm happy with the three MPCs that I have. They do what I need. I've tried to hype myself up to get one of the new ones but in all honesty I can do what I need with the MPCs that I have and their limitations don't bother me one bit. My 2000XL, 3000 and 500 cover me for what I need. I have other drum samplers like Maschine, the SP555 and the Zoom Sampletrak, plus samplers like Boss RC505 and EMU 2000 ESI but my old MPCs are my go to sampler workstations to use to create with. At the end of the day whatever works for you is what's the best to use. It's good to have options if you can but it's better to be a master of what you use regularly
@@vintagestereos Some are better than others, depending on what you want to do. For tracking out individual outputs my 2000XL and 3000 give me what I want as I have the eight outputs on both. With the 500 I level inside the MPC and use the two effects before adding the mastering effects and exporting what I've done. For proper separation on the mix I use the 3000 the most nowadays. For lofi kind of vibes I use the 500 alongside the Zoom Sampletrak. I like having the options to be creative with. I just don't see the new MPCs as tools that I need. I would use a DAW to do what they do and get the same results basically. Maschine has shown me that so if I want that sound I use Maschine
Another one awesome!! This video is definitely for me! Thanks for another one! You’re definitely right!! Floppy to flash drive is great! Then getting it all into the computer if need be is way easier. Ok ok ok you’re getting me to lean towards the newer!!!🤣😆😂
@@vintagestereos you’re welcome. And yes you’re right. A lot of people don’t care about the file management. They just want to their hands on the machine.
I like the mpc one cause it’s the cheapest and has a better layout then the live and live 2 less shortcuts and more physical buttons. Also I wouldn’t save your sounds to internal drive, yes agreed I love hype synth
Awesome video, I want that Live retro. I have the X and it's all I need. Problem is I can't use it lol. I have some type of screen sensitivity now and watching anything can trigger a seizure. Sucks 😞
With My MPK mini mk3 I don't really see the benefits I would get from having a actual MPC as dope as they are, I'd still use it with a PC and there DAW.
I love it. You still have the pads which is one of the most important elements to me. As much as I love my DAW, having pads to bang on helps me create differently than I might with a mouse. Maybe that's where I'll end up, with a setup like yours. Thanks for commenting.
@@vintagestereos I had two choices 1 sell My MPK49 and buy the MPK249 or 2 Keep the MPK49 and get a MPK mini. The only real difference with the MPK49 and 249 is the pads. I now have the benefit of new pads and portability.
You're falling victim to ease of use and completely missing the two prime values of the great mpc's: tone & swing, neither of which is possessed by this pseudo mpc.
Which MPC would you recommend to someone looking at buying one?

Ya the best of both! New and old. Sounds like you have some serious gear.

Yea I had my XL for like 12yrs Also, this one is very compelling and for the price
The XL is a hell of a machine, and it's perfect for many people. They like the way it is and can make it sing. Thanks for watching and commenting.
love the 60II and 2000 !!

My MPCX since 2017❤❤❤. I'm on it daily

I've got a MPC One and an MPC 1000 but I kind of like that live 2 battery pack and speakers
Batteries are awesome. I love how portable the Live is. Maybe they will make a Live mini.

Oh shit. That's terrible. The X seems like the real deal. I want the new X.
Nice studio
Thanks.

Making beats on DAWs are boring. I just use DAWs to mix my beats and record vocals
Mpc 1000
Fair.
60 and a 2000
all the way
Ok. I hear that. I see 2000s have come down in price drastically. I don't miss mine at all but they're great machines.
Beginners should get the current gen MPCs
Agreed. And work back from there if they must.

Maybe.
When old mpc broke, you can buy new part and repare it. When this broke, it become a trash.
