The beeper isn't a keypress beeper, rather it's the internal Geiger counter trying to warn you of the lethal amounts of awfulness radiating from it.

Absolutely. People I talk to about typing on that piece of slightly flexing metal say that it's so weird to switch back that they effectively can't because of how alienated their fingers are.
Personally, I'm going to stick to my fucking box navies. They don't make me want to snap my fingers off just by looking at it. (Both the My First Keyboard and the Apple Butterfly "keyboard")
@@revolver265 I brought my Box Navy keyboard to class once simply to piss off all of the Apple butterfly "keyboard" users. I wish I had an AEK with orange Alps to show them a real Apple keyboard.
Even an AEK2 with cream damped Alps would be a massive improvement. (Honestly, even the rubber-dome boards from the early G3s would be better than the stupid buttfly thing, but...)

The dumbest thing I ever did is I accidentally dropped a whole bottle of Water on an old laptop when I was about 9 or 10, that led to an upgrade and me never drinking water at a laptop ever again.
The only time I got peanut butter on a keyboard was when u was eating a PB@J on it
@@xander1052 I used an actual PC with a CRT when I was 3 and I was just told: "don't put water or food near it" so I didn't because I didn't want to break it because it had dig dug and then I wouldn't be able to play dig dug.

Ah, Tom, you're a saint, the things you do for us. Usually when I watch one of your videos I have at least some interest in obtaining the keyboard in question. Well ok more often than not I MUST HAVE THAT, which explains my small wall of keyboards. I was even mildly interested in the smith corona. But this time....I feel your pain...and feel no desire for one of....those.

It could be daisychained to an actual keyboard; and was made to substitute out via a standard PS/2 port.

The fact that your words per minute typing speed was so high is a remarkable achievement. Wow. What a crock.
You hit the nail on the head about the alphabetical layout. My son had his first computer when he was 4 years old and has used a QWERTY keyboard for 2 years now. He can type on this with superb accuracy and besides, you learn the alphabet really easy through ABC songs etc. It's far superior giving a QWERTY to a child than it would be this.
I haven't even watched the video yet and my first thought was "What an idiotic layout! Way to teach a child something it will have to cumbersomely relearn like a year later..." That's before going into missing keys and so on...
I was gonna comment how that i watched a LGR video about the same keyboard, didn't expect it to be actually the exact same keyboard that LGR had lol.
Color scheme isn't too bad at least. Same as the granite colorway.

This makes the sticky and gunky early to mid 90s Packard Bell keyboard I first used look like a model M!
if I had to type on a keyboard that used that layout, then I would use the onscreen keyboard so I could at least have the ability to write punctuation

Finally, a fitting punishment
When I were a lad, we didn't even have Windows, we had DOS. I learned how to use that when I was three and a half on an x86 PC with an IBM Model M. I couldn't read or write, but I sure as hell knew how to play Commander Keen on my dad's PC. If I had this keyboard, my ability to type would have been permanently crippled.

You forget that WASD came about by remapping the keys on games of the time. (I was actually a fan of ESDF so that my pinky got a few keys.) So yes, it would have been appropriate to remap all the keys for your game. It would also have been interesting to totally remap the keys to a 3-row qwerty layout to test this with your normal typing ability.

Basically this was the precursor to the plank keyboard, ortholinear with around 50 buttons! (and there's even a piezo speaker!) Anyway they managed to have 4 more buttons but still lack all modifiers and punctuations (even shift + number ones!), while making it probably bigger than a TKL! Seriously, the "keys" are a lot bigger and require a lot of force to press, not something that you would expect on a keyboard designed for kids that as far as I know have smaller and weaker hands!
At least now it was easy to see what you were typing in the typing demonstration. :)

Do you plan out your swears beforehand, or are you just so naturally talented at coming up with colourful language on the fly? I suspect the former because of the alliteration in some of them, but if it's the latter, I'm genuinely very impressed.
No, I have to script all my videos in advance, it makes them flow much more naturally. I do like swearing colourfully though :p .

I do feel that I can say it would be saner and quicker to just use an on screen keyboard and just _click_ all the letters into place.
Super safe to say i just use my mouse to use the on-screen keyboard program that comes default on windows then suffer using that..thing.

You could look on the bright side, it makes encoding and decoding messages in ROT13 trivial.
I'll assume this keyboard works like a regular keyboard, where they've moved around the scancodes. So if you use the German layout, the letters would instead end like "U V W X Z Y" due to it being QWERTZ instead, and no access to Ä Ö Ü. - You could also switch to the Dvorak layout and actually get access to ' , . ; for some punctuation, but then you have to stop using W V Z S. - The French layout will make the caps lock work for the number row too, so you can get access to & é " ' ( - è _ ç à but the alphabet will instead go: "Q B C D E ... O P A R S ... U V Z X Y W, and M is replaced with ,

I humbly request that thee do a review of the YMDK Acrylic CNC keyboard with Gateron Yellow switches. I've heard from many different sources that they are one of the best-feeling modern linear switches out there. You can find it on Amazon and I think also ebay.
Also, do it while inhaling Sulfur Hexafluoride for ultimate deep voice sexiness~
