I’m very excited to watch Heer’s race! His race philosophy for his first VG - safe, reliable, and finish the race - reminds me of a mountaineer’s first attempt on a peak…get to the top and back safely. Next time, I can try a crazy route. Best of luck, sir!
I would have to hear the boat underway, but I have the impression this boat has great ergonomics. They didn’t show the galley, but in general it appears to be well setup to function at a high level while minimizing the beating the skipper receives. It has a pleasant atmosphere. He almost said that being on the course was going to be a relief.
Ollie, best luck! I hope you added jacklines and wear a harness out there. Southern Ocean cares not if you keep one hand for yourself. Manage the risk where your experience, undercut by fatigue or injury, matters less than relentless conditions trying to tear you off the foredeck.
That man is on a mission! Talk about focused. Best of luck my friend.
nice to see these kinds of competitors. not just the top dogs. in many way the older boats and smaller teams do a lot more with a lot less.

Very impressive.. Good luck man!
holy shit, Sailing that far without electricity is absurdly impressive!
This guy’s a monster.
He certainly has guts, and just a bit of madness.
What a cool guy. Seems to have a great insight and perspective. I like him. I wish him well!

viel glück, guten wind und sichere rückkehr oliver!
You are a sailor bro, good luck !!!!
Behind you all the way Oli!
Best wishes for a safe race
I have to say that guys like Ollie here are in many ways more interesting to follow than the leaders !!!
Agreed! I'm watching the Vendee to try lower stress coming from what those leaders are doing!
You had to work harder than most to get to the start line Ollie. Hoping you have a really good race. Respect.

Hand Steering 18 hrs a day, that kind of resolve is what it takes.
Hey Herr Herr! Mach's gut!
Whose voice is that asking the questions?
Everyone that surrounded Alex Thompson turns out to be quite interesting in their own right ❤️
