@@greggorman5537honestly i think dude just likes his eels, needed a big enough area and decided to send em to the pit if i could i’d 100% have a fish pit
i still cant get over how curious your sturgeons are, like just casually checking out your arm. or immediately coming over if you make any waves. just funny to me seeing them not being afraid of you
sturgeon are such an interesting fish, i think it be cool if you gave like a short 5min video talking about them, cool facts, that sort of thing. Id definitely love to watch
@@kentuckyfriedpepespeaks1550 possibly but this species usually maxes out at 4-5ft in captivity at that size I’d be alright. Either way it’ll take them 10-20 years before I would need to worry about it.
Would be great to section off a quarter or so of the pit for with a fine mesh or close together sticks, to make a safe section for small fish to breed and live. They definitely looked brilliant, and made it feel way more natural and interesting.
Man that eel pit is awesome, you're some lucky to have that man! Thanks for sharing your videos and love for the animals! Cheers! ps the skinfade a few vids ago looked dope!
This just absolutely is the coolest thing and when I first started watching you I was like this guy is crazy but now I’m sitting around wishing that my house built in 1962 had a cistern!! I would be down there with a hammock chilling during the summer months not spending a lot of energy on air conditioning. And since I’m under 5 feet tall I don’t have to worry about hitting my head
@@Thomas_____ you can test for it. I know my basement is fine. I can’t live without a basement because we have tornadoes here then I wondered about getting in a cistern during a tornado how weird would that be with my luck The house would fall down land on the opening to the cistern and then I’d be sitting in the dark in the with the eels. That might creep me out
As some one who's been there and experienced this first hand (not as an eel pit owner, as a fish, once I was reincarnated as a catfish) I would be perfectly happy living in that pit. Clean, warm, plenty of food, lots of company a 24/7 party. Liked and subbed.
Hands down one of the best UA-cam channels. Relaxifying to the max. Crazy how I didn't know that visions of an eel pit would enhance my life so dramatically. I totally fantasize about snorkeling down there too. Just a really great idea💡 kudos for real
maybe when it gets fuller, you could put a small kayak down there? rather than an island of cinder blocks? It'd allow you to explore without hitting your head and buying a bunch more blocks
to deal with the walking height- you could place blocks to walk on then a water tight wall around them with blocks so you dont walk any higher and can still raise the water level
Doesn't necessarily have to be water tight (if you can bear wet feet or using boots). The important thing is isolating the walk way from the animals. "Animal tight" walls will suffice.
Man i absolutely love what you have done im moving inti a house next month with a systern and hioe the owner lets me open it for this type of use please bring us more material i love your names for the gars and eels!!!
It seems like that corner with the old island was a good spot for the smaller fish or ones that didn't want to be out in the open to hide. Any plans to put something else there as a replacement?
Curious what depth it is at now and where the depth goal is. Apologies if I missed that part. I'm just curious how deep you want to go so I can give suggestions on species Keep up the great work! Super cool
Love your videos Update on the crayfish? Any signs on the one that disappeared? Would you be able to add some sort of live shrimps or the water is too cold?
Afaik he said in one of the earlier videos that plants are not really a thing in the cold water biotopes where his fish live. ANd they would cause a build-up of gasses so he avoids plants.
at first i thought this dude was nuts with an underground eel pit. turns out to be a super relaxing channel.
Especially the way he starts every video with the "hi everybody "
I just am just trying to find out what and why he wants an eel pit
Is he trying to be an evil boss
shouldn't really judge a book by its cover.

That's what happens when you raise animals in an environment with no predators I guess...
@@crosshairs007 also what happens when you raise fish ❤they can recognize certain people as a non threat❤
he is one with the eel pit
I am a sturgeon doctor han….
Sturgeon are really friendly, especially in captivity. They literally have sturgeon pet pools as some aquariums.
The sturgeon poking its head out of the water at you was adorable.
The eel pit is probably the coolest fish tank I’ve ever seen in my entire life. And I’m 36, with a father who was a fish enthusiast
Great update. Always love seeing the pit in proper wide-screen glory.
ikr he should do more long form factor content
i feel like a horseshoe crab or two would only do this place justice
god never before did i think i needed an underground dungeon in my home for my lil fishes so bad
Your sturgeon always look so much happier and healthier than those I’ve seen at any bass pro shop. Great job!
The thunder in the background is the perfect soundtrack for RAISING THE EEL PIT
Been hoping you would do this, next step is making eel pool 😂

Thanks for the idea!
@@CowTurtle how deep is the eel pit now?
And I’d love to see them feeding, they’re super cool fish
Those sturgeons are going to get huge though, at some point they will have to be moved to a bigger home

This man is the nicest Bond villain you'll ever meet.
I love the eel pit. Please upload more eel pit.
i love the eel pit. i watch every single update fr.
Hi, Cow Turtle.
Can’t get enough of the eel pit. I noticed the schooling shiners right away and thought they actually added a cool element…

YES
Problem is that most of the time it would be dark.
@@wyattb20 night vision cam?
@@wyattb20 maybe you know…. i asked this in reg comments but don’t these creatures need some sort of natural light?
This dude did exactly what i would do with a clear clean pit of water, im jealous
Instead of a pathway, use a clear kayak. It will stop you from being too close to the ceiling and allow for deeper water.
That'd be very cool, he could just dive too haha.
@@orestesbastos yeah, but you don't want to have to dive each time you want to see your fishy friends... At least I wouldn't
