He seems to be very authentic, very much himself. With several years of sobriety and a new marriage at that time, how wonderful he seems at ease. And he has the greatest laugh.
Reminded me of when I saw him in concert at Madison Square Garden in the early 1970s. He truly is a talented performer. Writes music/lyrics, pianist/singer, showman/artist.
Thank you, Rosie!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Thank you, Elton!!! I’m the teacher from Sturgeon Bay, WI whose students wrote letters to the show so I could meet EJ!! And I did, and I was NUMB for the next 20 years!!! I love you, Elton!!!
Omgosh, you got to meet Sir Elton John! How lucky are you... can I ask what you talked about? I'm not 60, but I think my 13yo self would take over, and I might just clam, giggle, and cry a bit😂 Forgot to add, I also live in Wisconsin, Southwest.
I really miss Rosie's old show. She was a wonderful host and had such a great connection with all of her guests. She has a really brilliant intellect, which helps a lot.
Hes like no body, but when he already turns his way to sit down infront the grand piano, and touches keys with gusto... i was like , man, elton john truly is a legend.
My friend from the late 90s, she loved Elton as do I, but, she was NEXT FUCKING LEVEL. LIKE followed him around like he was the grateful dead... flew to shows etc...She went to this show and saw him at the end outside. He approaches and laughs" don't you think others deserve a chance?" And she's like oh shit what does he remember...and he says "you jumped on front of My car at Madison Square Garden last year". He remembered her!
What's sad is that he can comment that others deserve a chance, but the next person could be even more aggressive and never give anyone else a chance to see him closer. Unfortunately he has many fans on social media who are rude and mean. They keep what they know about Elton's travels and all that personal stuff to themselves and have nasty replies if someone like myself posts a question. If I had the money to be an "Elton Head" and follow him, I would have done it in a heartbeat. I'm 60 so I wouldn't have been able to get up on any cars😅😂
I just saw Elton John perform a few weeks ago at the Outside Lands Festival in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. He was was awesome. I did a little online research and I was surprised to learn that Elton John has given over 3,000 concerts since 1970. If you average the songs per concert, that's almost 70,000 songs. I've seen him perform twice. The Outside Lands Festival and at the Civic Center Auditorium on June 17, 1982. He doesn't play in San Francisco very often.
I guess that songs of his like "Durban deep" (I really love it), "16th century man" or "I just cannot wait to be king" (among others) do not count amongst those 70,000 songs, since as far as I know he never sung those songs live, and if that's true, I inevitably wonder why... I saw him live just once, about three or four years ago, the only time he paid a visit to Gijón (Asturias, Spain).
ldchappell1 I’ve seen him twice, the first time in the late 80s and then 2013. I’ve been to countless concerts and his 80s concert is my favorite of all time. It was perfect. In 2013 it was great but didn’t live up, he’s getting old.❤️
I wish I was in San Francisco on June 17th, 1982. Instead I was 18 and waiting at home for my Marine Corp boyfriend to return from boot camp. We got married June 28th😭. If I was at the Elton John concert, lol!
Amazing! I still watch this from time to time. I love everything about it. The banter! I too had to get Tantrums & Tiaras dubbed. My grandfather helped me get it done. The new single at that time, You Can Make History Young Again, is actually one of my favorites and I think could be used to describe his enduring career and our love as fans for him. Although, as I said in the fan magazine East End Lights, I still think the bridge doesn't work well lol. You can see why fans stay with him through the decades when you see a performance of Levon like this one. I have seen him live over a dozen times and it never gets old. I was there for the last show in Dodger's stadium last Fall. I'll always be there for him. "When you going down there, darlin'?" - all the loonies get married in Australia lol
Or rather, he hadn’t set up his AIDS foundation then. All the proceeds from that went to AIDS charities. It was the beginning of him turning his life around.
Clare Sherman Well, that’s not very nice either way. You have a bit more reading to do I’m afraid. He went to the RAM for Piano Lessons, not to ‘study’. Lots of kids will have had piano lessons at the RAM.
Elton makes me laugh hes got a wonderful sense of humor you don't see that often a genius with humor. and an amazing artist
Legend.. acting so down to earth and cool.. nothing but respect for Elton..
That's not an act...

Don't forget the 2 beautiful boys!
That live vocal performance on Levon was impressive. He really put his back into it. He definitely did NOT just go through the motions.
