    Elton’s voice is so soft and gentle! You’d expect somebody with that vocal power and range to have a deeper, more raspy voice. And he was so darn cute back in the day!

    It is so bizarre seeing these old interviews. I was a huge Elton John fan as a kid, I was 13 when this interview took place, and have never seen him interviewed. I had no idea he was gay, or even what "gay" was back then. He is about as gay as a gay guy can get and I never associated it with his flamboyant personality. I just thought back then he liked crazy costumes but it is an integral part of his personality. Now after so many decades, I've come to accept gay sexual orientation but would have been horrified back then if someone had told me what it was all about. All that said, what an enourmously talented man. I'm only now beginning to appreciate what I loved so much back then.

    Funny how in later years Elton has been quoted as stating that song could have just as easily been about Jimmy Dean, that neither he nor Bernie were particularly great fans of Monroe.
    Anyhow, little did any of us know how iconic that song was to become.
    A very intelligent, witty, thoughtful and generous man.
    Genius.

    I've been in love with Elton since 1971 when I was nine and he and Bernie were Levon. Until I had a copy of Madman Across the Water (age 13) and read the lyrics, I never knew why "he shot me Levon". Forget about Michael Jackson as "the king of Pop",.... Elton was long before MJ, and always will be.

    • @ReelinInTheYears66
      @ReelinInTheYears66  3 роки тому +7

      Dude seriously? Who cares what his sexuality is? Why do you need to fixate on the fact he’s gay? Have you ever seen “Hamilton” or any other Broadway musical? I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that a few of the actors in those show are most likely part of the LGBTQ community and who they love has no bearing on their work. Just enjoy someone’s art (or don’t) but why you need to put the “I’m not gay” disclaimer before your praise of Elton John is beyond me.

      @@PK-it9yt it's not about whether he "meant something bad" or not, it's that the comment sounded a little (very) stupid clarifying that he wasn't gay just because he was going to praise a person of the same sex who is also gay. and while i understand that may sound a little over the top, there's nothing wrong with someone letting you know that you sound like a jerk.

    I wish I was born a couple of decades earlier in England. It would have been so fantastic to be in his concert when he was young. Well, I'm sure it will be lovely this year too and I really really really hope nothing cancels the concert or prevents me from attending, because I love him and this is the last chance. But still, it was a very different show back when he was young and energetic and in those costumes.
