Long term biofuels are not the the answer for short term protection from competition in South America. Row crop farming (corn and soybeans) reminds me of the dairy industry 30 years ago. Blindly moving forward and not confronting the obvious disaster they are headed for in the future, if they refuse to change course. The obvious answer is to push for new technology that makes biofuels price competitive, more efficient, and able to not just compete with oil but be one step ahead. That is the problem with government subsidies . Industries lose their entrepreneurial drive, and just sit around waiting for hand outs. I'm a Ohio farmer by the way.
@@ttanne7838what about the fertilizer to grow these crops? Very dependant upon the oil and gas industries. Makes me wonder if these biofuels are truly any better for the environment than regular oil and natural gas production and use.
@@chadtosh6831 Yes oil and gas is used in farming. No one said it didn't. But corn and beans are energy. Have you ever seen a grain fire? Lots of energy. You get way more energy back then you put into it. Otherwise you would be correct. Corn and beans are at its very basics, energy. A whole lot of energy. Think for a second. If oil and gas cost to much to grow a crop that farmer would stop growing that crop. He would have to stop.
@@ttanne7838 I didn't even bring up that ethanol is an inferior product. It is hard on small and large engines, and less efficient. RE: higher repair bills for customers. After receiving rains the past two weeks in the southern plains HRW Wheat areas conditions have “improved” to be the 2nd worst.. according to your chart.. in the last 11 years. Oklahoma was so dry that they are up to 79% planted now vs 90% last year and 93% normal. Some areas got upwards of 6” and probably “not much” will get done this week.. delaying sowing and emergence further.. will it get in and emerge this year??? We still have NOT recovered from the historic drought.. as streamflow is minimal and reservoir recovery is slow. Moisture has been passing through the root zone.. as pulled by dryer zones underneath. We had a 2” rain in early September here.. “should be good to go..”. Continued with fall harvest.. then started the wheat drills.. NOPE.. MOISTURE WAS GONE.., it’s THAT DAMN DRY.. Yes 4” over the past two weeks has again been helpful.. but will probably be gone by warm up next spring. ITS GOING TO TAKE CONTINUED MUCH ABOVE MOISTURE EVENTS to refill the dry zones.. restart streamflows.. and recharge reservoirs and aquifers. Rains to date have been a start.. NOT a fulfillment of what’s needed. Keep them coming..

What they stated was just simply facts. The fact of the matter is is that Donald Trump has set farming economics back in every possible way that he could. The tariffs resulted in more expansion of agricultural acres in South America than originally planned. He has less desire to promote renewable energy and more desire to promote the oil industry. He already depleted the relationship we had with China and if he follows through on his tariff plans he will be doing the same with, our #1 buyer of corn, Mexico.
@ ag in the US is broken. Have you paid attention to the prices the last few years? Trumps 4 years isn’t causing this mess. Incompetence in control now and over production with no market is to blame. The whole ag sector in the us needs an overhaul. But let’s clear out another fence line plant more corn and beans and whine when prices go even lower.
@@Ligmajohnson1989The over production is coming from the South American market. Cerrado expanded tremendously when they had the forest fires back 4-5 years ago. We are just now seeing those acres the past 2 years coming into production. That is in very large fact due to Trumps tariffs on China. What about these past 4 years has Biden implemented any actions to bring the commodity prices down?? The first 2 years he was in office we got the highest prices we’ve ever seen.

Just how much subsidies does ethanol get? Not that much. Remember oil has several toxic chemicals. So corn and soy has a place in the conversation.

Rain is falling again in WC Iowa. Love getting some but the timing could be better. Good report. Thanks!
What is plasma nitrogen for corn and wheat?
Biofuels are bad for the American Farmer. Lower grain prices will lower the High Inflation rate.
Must have the comment filter on today.

Wheat sucks. It does rain and wheat chops along. It rains and wheat dives. Yesterday corn was more at the elevator than wheat.
