And the Amish are a tight knit community and you best believe when they come together for ANYTHING whether it be building a barn or something like this they are going to show up in numbers 👍I love my Amish neighbors, they are good people.

Southern Pennsylvania has been my home away from home for 30 years since my sister moved there with her family. It is God's country. I dined in a restaurant with a group of 10 Amish at a table next to me, when their bill came they seemed to struggle with it, I had the waitress bring me their bill and I paid it, they didn’t thank me but they thanked God for providing me with the ability to be generous, worked for me, plus the bill wasn’t bad without beer or wine on it.
That’s so sweet that they were struggling to pay… I don’t know why but I find that so adorable ❤ 🥰🥰 The Amish seem so simple and innocent, it’s beautiful 😊

I sincerely wish we had Amish communities here in Florida - but farming here is not easy because of the year round hot weather. I moved here 5 yrs ago from the PA/MD border and the one thing I truly miss is Amish Markets - especially the Amish butcher shops where you could purchase great meats from wonderful people.

I'm in Portage. There's a large Amish community near Montello, WI. Google Mishler's Country store in Dalton, WI. It's huge. A very pretty and peaceful drive. 💚🌲💚

They have a little country store near where I live and also a really great greenhouse garden center, both of which my family supports. I feel like here in Wisconsin there's little communities scattered all over. I know in southwest Wisconsin there's a larger community in the.... Viroqua area. I've lived in several different places in Wisconsin and there was always some sort of community of Amish nearby. Actually to be more specific, Amish and Mennonite. I believe the Viroqua area is the real Amish.

If you tell me you are hungry and cannot pay we will give it to you for free. He paid. I was impressed with that generosity!
Enjoyed my trip to Amish country many years ago. They are very true to their religion and values and are very respectable people. An Amish farmer with an 8th grade education knows far more about agriculture than some Starbucks drinking, North Face wearing paper pushing bureaucrat the Department of Agriculture who has never set foot on a farm or a ranch yet makes real regulations that threatens the livelihoods of rural families.

We went to Hershey Park Pennsylvania and drove up to an Amish farm Stand. It was so wonderful! They had delicious jarred foods in glass. They invited us into their walk in cooler where every dairy product one finds at the supermarket was there. Milk, eggs, butter,etc. it was a great memory I shall cherish. They are living a better life than many others. The live independently and love God. I could live that life. Thank you all for being the remnant that helped us win! Many cultures are very “self preserving”! Amish will not marry outside the race OR religion ! It has preserved their beliefs and their culture.
I live in Pennsylvania and shop at the farmers' market run by two Amish families. One day a customer asked if he had to pay (he was joking) the farmer said, well if you can please do. If you tell me you are hungry and cannot pay we will give it to you for free. He paid. I was impressed with that generosity!

Enjoyed my trip to Amish country many years ago. They are very true to their religion and values and are very respectable people. An Amish farmer with an 8th grade education knows far more about agriculture than some Starbucks drinking, North Face wearing paper pushing bureaucrat the Department of Agriculture who has never set foot on a farm or a ranch yet makes real regulations that threatens the livelihoods of rural families.

We went to Hershey Park Pennsylvania and drove up to an Amish farm Stand. It was so wonderful! They had delicious jarred foods in glass. They invited us into their walk in cooler where every dairy product one finds at the supermarket was there. Milk, eggs, butter,etc. it was a great memory I shall cherish. They are living a better life than many others. The live independently and love God. I could live that life. Thank you all for being the remnant that helped us win! I want to take a ride there again and stock up on your delicious canned foods.May your way of life live on forever.😊

Thank you for these critical insights. We really need detailed knowledge like this instead of blindly labeling people as sexist, racist, homophobic. It makes total sense that the Amish just wanted their way of life protected and voted for that reason. I had no idea they were being harassed so much these years.

A primary reason they are harassed is that the soil in the Lancaster County area is among the most fertile in the country. Corporate farming interests lobby PA politicians to attack the Amish way of life in hopes they leave that land and sell it off.
