Skeet shooting Is probably one of the most difficult and skillful sport on earth. I've never done it before, only seen it many times on sports channels and documentaries. Heck, I've never even held a gun in my hand before (except a toy guy ofcourse) by even I can tell how skillful and talented these guys are.
I do a fair amount of skeet shooting. It can be a challenge, but just about anybody can learn to break a few targets. Recreational shooting is a bit different, at least in the U.S., than what you see in the Olympics. The two greatest differences are that Olympic targets fly faster and there can be a delay between the shooter's call for the target and the release of the target. In recreational shooting, the shots that present at stations #1 and #7 (particularly #7) are hittable for most novices. In my experience, some new shooters seem to take to the sport more quickly than others, but mostly it is just a matter of getting comfort in the environment and with the gun. Like anything though, getting to be an expert takes a whole lot of practice (and for shooting sports, money).
Now I understand what people mean, when they say I talk passionate about archery. You can really tell when some one is passionate about something, her eyes shine while she speaks :)

At that total weight there would be about 300 pellets of size 7&1/2. The International Shooting Sport Federation (the governing body for Olympic shooting events) mandates the use of lead shot.
They don't hit all of them. And I guess as soon as all athletes became so good that all of them always hit all targets, ISSF would change the rules and make the targets faster or something like that.

That whole shoot from the hip business sounds way more like cowboys drawing from holsters. I'll have to do some research, or ask some folks who might know, but on the surface of it the mechanics of the stock of a rifle being at the hip doesn't sound too practical or smooth.

You can use any shotgun in Skeet Shooting as long as it isn’t Self Loading or Automatic. In the Olympics, they usually use an Under-Over 12 Gauge (ideally produced by Berretta, a lot of people would agree with me when I say they’re the best shotgun producers) I suppose you could also use a Double-Barrel Shotgun but I’ve never seen that before, it is the cheaper alternative though.

No, because you would have to pump the shotgun in between every shot, and the clays are moving at roughly 80KM/H, not to mention break action shotguns are one of the most reliable shotgun types, since there’s much less moving parts when compared to a pump action shotgun or a semi automatic shotgun.

I've watched at least part of a shotgunning type match where the contestants didn't always hit every one.
Maybe there are details of technique that don't disqualify you but you can be judged on

They must have changed the rules in International Skeet. In the past, the stock had to be on your hip, not up under your armpit.
I'm not a gun guy, but that just sounds strange? Holding a rifle that low? Don't people usually shoulder rifles?

A very expensive Beretta or Perazzi, these can cost up to 10k
